Welcome[edit]
Hi - welcome to Wikipedia. I'm Girth Summit, an administrator here. The welcome template above contains a whole host of policies and guidelines which, while being rather dry and not exactly a fun read, will help you understand what is going on and how things work. Just a couple of comments from me in relation to your recent edits:
- If someone reverts your edits, head to the relevant article's talk page and ask them why they did it. Discuss it with them, and come to an agreement about what the article should say. If you just reinstate your stuff, that's what we call edit warring, which can lead to bad situations.
- Our content has to be sourced. You can't just say that ageism is a cognitive bias - you need a reliable source describing it as such. I can see that ageism is a bias, not problem there, but a cognitive bias, as defined by that list? I'm not sure, that's the kind of thing you need a reliable source for.
- We have a very long, complicated manual of style. I'm not sure whether anybody actually knows all of it, I know I don't, but one thing we don't do is use abbreviations in articles - it's always 'can not' or 'cannot', rather than 'can't'. I realise I'm doing exactly that in this post - but we're in talk space here, not in article space where we need to be formal.
Hope that's helpful - again, welcome and happy editing. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 20:40, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
