Welsh buzzard

Thanks for giving me the heads up! The Welsh 'hawk' is watching. We say 'buzzard' in Wales. Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 18:48, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

I wonder where I read these words before? -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 12:59, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Now, that just seems very inappropriate to me. What about you? ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 14:16, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
I agree with you. Just what I thought. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 14:20, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
That is a clear case of canvassing, to bring a previously uninvolved editor into the fight. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 14:22, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Exactly. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 14:24, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
He has changed the wording slightly but its always "I'm right and everyone else is wrong = please come help me". A clear case of WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality. It is hilarious that he accuses others of WP:OWN. Cheers to you both and have a great weekend. MarnetteD | Talk 18:37, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, Marnette! I have some good Bavarian beer and I intend to relax, smoke my pipe, and not get drawn deeper into this ultimately-of-no-consequence nonsense. Cheers to you both! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 00:15, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you to both for your good wishes. Having pleasant weather here and enjoying the autumn sunshine. Perhaps, when you return to editing you would be kind enough to look at this for me. The editor is insisting on keeping an article discussion – which he started on my Talk page – off the article's Talk page. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 18:31, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Looking at the page you linked to, I am not sure I understand what the problem is. Can you explain? ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 03:22, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Sure! Sorry it's not clear.
Following my reverting his revert of Ring Cinema's revision yesterday, he posted a message on my Talk page. I copied, cut, and moved it to the article's Talk. He deleted it there and also "un-did" my action on my own Talk page. I re-instated my editing on both pages, and then added a short statement of the relevant events in the film. All of this explained in edit summaries. Then, as a goodwill gesture, copied the complete post onto my Talk. I would prefer to not have it there but he clearly regards the matter just between the two of us. I quote from two of his edit summaries:
(a) "... rem message wrongly moved from individual's talk page." and,
(b) "... this is a personal message. Id have put it on the talk page if iI'd wanted it there."
Curiously, he is not involving Ring Cinema, although he has been reverting him too. Good wishes, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 12:40, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Well, his behavior makes no sense, and is inappropriate. If he continues, let me know, and I will gladly revert him. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 00:46, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Black Comedy?

At http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Welcome_to_the_Dollhouse I have asked for comments about restoring the description "black comedy" to the lede. David F (talk) 21:04, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

After receiving a helpful suggestion from another editor, I inserted the description in the proper section of Welcome to the Dollhouse. David F (talk) 03:39, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I saw that, and intended to drop you a note saying I agreed with and appreciated your decision, then I got distracted and forgot. For that, I apologize, but I do think you made the right choice. Cheers! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 04:13, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism of my Talk Page

You have vandalized my personal Talk Page by deleting a message, which was sent to me by a conscientious individual alerting me to your “vigilante” activities on Wiki. Your hubris would be hilarious if your actions didn’t have the serious ramifications of compromising the integrity of Wikipedia itself. Continuing your chosen pattern of behavior will not serve you well in the long run. Betempte (talk) 19:11, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

If you think I have done wrong, report me to an administrator. But I am not going to be the subject of a personal attack, no matter where it is made. Accusing another editor of "slander" is, without question, a personal attack. If you had any decency or conscience, you would have removed it yourself. Good day, sir, you and I have nothing further to say to one another. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 21:00, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

My mistake on Silence of the Lambs

I had no idea the IP was a sock. Sorry about that, I withdrew(hopefully hat-ing it like I did is the right way to do it) the report I made on the 3RR board. Jonathanfu (talk) 17:21, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

I understand, and I know that you were acting in good faith. No harm done. That particular IP range is used by a Brazilian vandal that several of us in the Filmproject have been tangling with for years. The problem in those situations is that the IP is reverting so quickly, there is no time (or seems to be no time) to explain why I am reverting as well. What I should have done is posted at AN/I so that others could intervene. I had posted at AiV, but there was a long lag time before someone responded. I appreciate your message. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 17:35, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
It's always worth slapping {{Sockpuppetry}} on the sock's user talk, and then other editors will be aware of the situation. Betty Logan (talk) 17:48, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
I put an IPsock tag on his userpage, but not his talk page. Hmmm... ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 18:53, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Scarface and criminal subculture

Hello; I'm the one who created the "Criminal subculture" section on Scarface film article. Although English-language is not my mother tongue and I'm a noob wikipedist I think that my section was interesting and appropiated for the article. I'm wondering if is it possible to maintain my section maybe rewritting it. You said also that an additional drawback was that it had refereces, could you be so kind as to explain why is that a disadvantage?

Thank you for considering — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerarudo (talkcontribs) 10:28, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

I will take another look at it and leave a message on your talk page. Thanks for your message. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 18:27, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Boardwalk Empire

I responded to your thread on the BE talk page regarding the cast infobox. It's been over a month since you made the posting, so I'm not sure if you're still checking the page regularly.--Chimino (talk) 09:42, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! I will respond there. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 16:14, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

John Coltrane discography

Hello. I've removed Coltrane's Sound again, because it does not belong on the discography on his biographical page. Please take a look at the heading qualifiers to that discography, and the explanation on the article's talk page under the heading 'discography.' Certainly, Coltrane's Sound belongs on his discography page, but not on the shorter discography section on his biography page. Thanks. PJtP (talk) 19:28, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. You are correct. I should have looked more closely. Cheers! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 23:41, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

This article...

Ha, ha! I guessed that you would be watching; I had read this post a little while ago and I thought, "This is a project that's right up my street." – I promise to continue with the scathing edit summaries. Cheers! –
 – Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 15:57, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

I had actually forgotten that I had posted on the subject a long time back. I like the edit summaries, keep them coming! Cheers! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 16:51, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
I shall. Thought you ought to read this in particular the paragraph that starts: "Great service from both of you – " It was written just over twelve months ago on the Wikipedia:Help page and is within a précis of two strands copied for future reference  –

Top Critics

Hello, I invite you to weigh in about "Top Critics" scores from Rotten Tomatoes at this discussion. Erik (talk | contribs) 20:59, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Assuming that you are okay with other editors referencing Rotten Tomatoes, can you comment on whether or not to use "Top Critics" scores? I think in general, a case could be made for them if it was not for the regional trickiness that makes such scores ill-defined. If you'd like to discuss the merits of Rotten Tomatoes as a whole, though, there is a wider discussion here. Lexein is making a case against Rotten Tomatoes, and your thoughts are welcome. Erik (talk | contribs) 13:23, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
I will review the discussion and add my opinion later today. Thanks. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 13:58, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Greetings

Thank you! Merry Christmas to you, as well. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 13:06, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Season's Greetings, TheOldJacobite!
At this wonderful time of year, I would like to give season’s greetings to all the fellow Wikipedians I have interacted with in the past! May you have a wonderful holiday season! MarnetteD | Talk 16:49, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Also best wishes for your 2013 and happy editing whenever possible :-) MarnetteD | Talk 16:49, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I wish the same to you, good sir! I am happy to say that I will be leaving town in a couple days, heading south to New Orleans, and will not be back (and back online) 'til about the 5th of January. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 16:52, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Sounds like great fun. Make sure to hit all the music clubs/bars seen in Treme as well as all enjoying all the good food!!!! MarnetteD | Talk 21:04, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh, this is my 6th visit, so I need no encouragement! But, I am really hoping to see Kermit Ruffins playing/barbecuing while I am down there! It's going to be a great time. Cheers! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 01:18, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for keeping tabs on and reverting Special:Contributions/94.169.180.101's edits. He seems to be changing the cast order for no good reason. I've reverted several of his edits today. I'll drop him a note. - Fanthrillers (talk) 15:59, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome. I could not figure out what he was doing, it just seemed random and unhelpful. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 18:14, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

December 2012

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would ask that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not on The Fugitive (1993 film). Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Seems a little WP:BITEY as well; I haven't scrutinized the edit though; feel free to tell me I'm wrong.Hello71 02:54, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Hm, not quite the wording I was expecting. Still, the edit doesn't seem to be blatantly in bad faith as was perhaps implied by your edit summary. ⁓ Hello71 02:56, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

While you are away ...

... I shall keep watching this article
Also I have this article on my radar –

Category "People killed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army"

Hi. I've seen you editing article related to Irish republicanism before, so I thought I'd ask for your insight, as you probably have more knowledge of this area than I do. I've noticed the category "People killed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army" has been added rather imprudently to many articles of people only allegedly killed by the Provisional IRA. If the person was only allegedly killed by the IRA, is it fair to have this category in the article? I have recently removed the category from the article Murder of Joseph Rafferty, as the claim that Rafferty was murdered by the IRA is particularly dubious. I have also started a conversation on the talk page of the article Murder of Robert McCartney asking if it is appropriate to have that category listed there. Your comments on that talk page, as well as on this issue in general, are most welcome. Freikorp (talk) 12:33, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
