Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of United States tornadoes in July 2023, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Willowbrook, Illinois. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NCEI report format

[edit]

Can you please use the model below when doing NCEI refs? We have to go back and fix them when it isn't done like this.

You have been on an absolute tear! You've done a great job of fixing up and adding tornadoes from 2007 and beyond! All I ask is that you use the newest table format. Other than that, you're good! ChessEric 20:09, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do I have to use the new table format for the older years? There's a really annoying bug with the new one when I sort it. I thought it would be okay to do the older years with the old table. Timcigar12 (talk) 03:47, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Y'know, I just wanted to stop by and say that I'm grateful for your hard work on lists of tornadoes – particularly List of United States tornadoes in April 2024! Great work, keep it up! :) ~ Tails Wx (🐾, me!) 02:29, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Piedras Negras-Eagle Pass tornado

[edit]

You found a source that said that these two tornado events were connected. While I don't necessarily doubt that finding, I really need to know where exactly in the article it is. I haven't studied Spanish in a long time, so I don't know where it is. Also, with NCEI report saying that these were two separate tornadoes, we got to figure out which source should be used here. ChessEric 20:38, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

From the source I labeled, I have these areas in the article (with their English translations!):
Page 4, Paragraph 3 - "The participating investigators conducted an extensive tour of the affected areas to identify the path of the tornado in the Piedras Negras area and traveled to the area of Eagle Pass, Texas, to also recognize the affected area of Rosita Valley (Rosita South) in the same Maverick County that was also damaged by the tornado to interview local officials. and collect information on the effects of the passage of the meteor that would be useful to generate some comparative appreciations."
Page 6, Paragraph 1 - "On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 24, 2007, a storm system called a supercell appeared in the north of the country that generated a tornado of multiple vortices that developed a devastating path with a little more than 1 kilometer in diameter through the area of Villa de Fuente in the urban context of Piedras Negras, Coahuila and advanced a little more than 22 kilometers to reach the residential area of Rosita Valley (Rosita South) in Eagle Pass, Texas."
Page 6, Paragraph 3 - "In field interviews, we found descriptions of the formation of the tornado in the Acoros residential colony to the west of the city of Piedras Negras, following a trajectory to the east, causing damage to the Deportivo Fraccionamiento and the most severe damage to Villa de Fuente, then passing through the Ejido Villa de Fuente where it stopped generating destruction in the urban area. Moving forward through unpopulated areas in a southeasterly direction crossing the Rio Grande, to reach inhabited areas again in the aforementioned area of Rosita Valley jurisdiction of Eagle Pass, Maverick County in Texas."
And then Page 24 on the paper has a map of their estimated path of the tornado.
Personally, as much of a used source as the NCEI is, I think this paper is better solely because of the fact it is a research paper and it was published after the NCEI release. It's up to you which you think would be better, I'm fine with any change! Timcigar12 (talk) 22:19, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. Thanks for letting me know. I think a second opinion is needed on this. ChessEric 01:56, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For continually updating the list pages. I was going to add the rest of the June tornadoes tonight, but you beat me to it! Keep up the good work! ChessEric 03:49, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I am sending this alert to all members of the WikiProject Weather and editors who have recently edited in the realm of tornadoes.

There is a large and important discussion ongoing, with the goal to completely overhaul and improve the List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes. The previous improvement attempt back in 2022/2023 gained almost no participation. This alert is being sent out so these discussions hopefully gain a reasonably-sized participation, so the F5/EF5 tornado article, one of the most viewed weather-related articles on Wikipedia, can be improved for all readers!

If you wish to participate, please visit: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Weather/Possible F5/EF5/IF5 tornadoes. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 16:23, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question on whether to use "this tornado" or "a/an tornado" in tornado chart summaries

[edit]

So while editing in the tornado chart summaries, I've been bothered by something. When we put tornadoes in the charts, especially ones that have just been confirmed and don't have a summary, we say "A/An __ tornado..." However, I've come to be bothered by this, because if we are specifically describing that tornado, I believe that "This ___ tornado..." would be better way of putting it. Any thoughts on that? ChessEric 05:13, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the wrongdoings in either way. When adding tornadoes, I try to avoid repetition like having three to four columns in a row of "A tornado..." but unfortunately words kinda seem limited sometimes. I think we can keep doing it as it is, but if you become bothered I won't be upset if you reword / rewrite it! Summaries are not exactly my expertise either haha. Final reports for Tornado outbreak of March 31 – April 1, 2023

[edit]

Can you handle adding the final reports in for Tornado outbreak of March 31 – April 1, 2023? I'm surprised that it hasn't been done yet. ChessEric 23:28, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I can, it will be done by the end of the month. Timcigar12 (talk) 23:32, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It appears that we've had a "changing of the guard" now that TI12 is gone and US man doesn't edit on the tornado pages as much. ChessEric 07:24, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you still doing this? It’s alright if you can’t. ChessEric 00:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey sorry for the delayed response, but I actually have just gotten back from vacation now. I probably won't get it done until after I finish updating the May 2024 stuff. Apologies I didn't get to it, got a little lazy before my vacation as well. Timcigar12 (talk) 19:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
