Creating articles

[edit]

Hello, I have been cleaning up some of the articles you have been creating, see these edits: 1, 2, 3, 4. It is not good practice to create articles consisting solely of an infobox. Could you ensure that all future creations show a little respect for the manual of style for footballers by at least including a brief introduction, and at least one category. It would be much better if you could also include at least one reference from a Reliable source the navbox (a selection here Category:Mexican football squad templates) and all of the appropriate categories (here Category:Footballers in Mexico by club and a selection for other countries here Category:Football (soccer) players by club). I would appreciate it if you went through your previous creations and ensured that they comply with the manual of style, in order that the work does not need to be done by other editors. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on my talkpage. English peasant 10:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense of Regas Tuloki

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Regas Tuloki, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Regas Tuloki provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Regas Tuloki, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Mexican football players

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you have started many articles on Mexican league football players. It is nice to have someone else helping improve Wikipedia's coverage of the Mexican league, but I've noticed that most of the articles you create are missing important sections which make them difficult to understand.

Here are some things I recommend:

  • Add an external link to www.mediotiempo.com for each player. There is a helpful template which works like this: *{{Medio Tiempo|idj=11444}} All you need to do is change the idj number (it is the same one used at the www.mediotiempo.com website (see Adrian Zermeño for an example).
  • Add some text as the lead to the article. At a minimum, please make one sentence which identifies the player's name and date of birth and mentions that he is a professional footballer playing for a club team in Mexico. You may want to copy the Adrian Zermeño article to a text file for easy copying to new articles (and then you can just change the important details for the player).
  • Add at least a few categories. There are some helpful templates that help do the work: {{Lifetime|1984||Lastname, Firstname}} Enter the year of birth after the first | and then add the players last and first names at the end which is how the article will be sorted. This template creates two categories (year of birth and living people). Also, please add a category for the player's nationality such as Category:Mexican footballers. Finally, it is helpful to add the categories for the clubs such as Category:San Luis footballers.

Please let me know if you have questions or need help. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 03:04, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox only articles

[edit]

Stop creating articles that only consist of an infobox as you did with Edwin Santibáñez. Please look at the manuel of style for footballers and ensure that each article you create has the minimum of an introductary paragraph, an external link and some appropriate categories. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Universaljag! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 15 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Oscar Dautt - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Francisco Javier González (Mexican footballer) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
