Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, VasiliadouMps, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Varosi (Edessa), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 01:10, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Varosi (Edessa)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Varosi (Edessa). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Varosi. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Varosi. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 01:10, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

both the article Varosi and Varosi Edessa are mine. Two points

[edit]

VasiliadouMps, thank you very much for giving us an article about the Varosi neighbourhood here on English Wikipedia. It's an example of why having editors from all over the world is so important and such an advantage over other English-language encyclopaedias.

But you actually created it with a second account, MarVas83. You need to make clear, on the user pages or the talk pages of both that account and this one, that they are both operated by the same person. Even if you don't intend to use MarVas83 any more. (Policy and suggestions for format)

More importantly, copyright is a very serious matter. Here is a summary with links to policy and explanation pages (taken from one of our welcome templates):

Edits to Wikipedia may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless that text is available under a suitable free license. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

This includes copying machine translations (and in any case, the English Wikipedia community has decided not to accept machine translations, including from the WMF translation tool). I'm concerned that your English may not be good enough to summarise the information from sources in your own words. I see you've started expanding the article, but the wording of the paragraph you've added suggests that you've put together phrases from sources: This historic neighborhood, preserved for over 2500 years, holds the essence of Edessa's rich heritage. With its distinct architecture and storied past, Varosi takes us on a captivating journey through time. Situated advantageously amidst fertile lands and abundant waters, this city held great military, economic, and political importance. Perched atop the ancient walls and the acropolis, known as the "Castle of Vodena," Varosi offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding plains. It's also too emotional in tone. Can you please leave the article to be expanded by others? Yngvadottir (talk) 22:43, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

thank you Yngvadottir. I created by mistake two accounts, thinking that i am creating two drafts. Greek administrators asked me which account i want to keep and i decided to keep the first i created, so MarVas account does not exist anymore. Then they suggested to rename the article to "Varosi Edessa".My English is not good enough indeed.I have done so much work with this article and it worth it. if anyone want to contribute it is ok. I will also do my best. Thank you! 185.44.145.207 (talk) 06:28, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
