Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, VickyMajnl. Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Kotsovolos, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Hello and thank you very much for this talk. We are a group of students, trying to ad information in this page and the greek one. We have collected information about this company from the human resources department of this company based on a research we did from existing company pages in greece and abroad. This all started this summer. we had so many problems in the greek wiki page and now we see that the same problems appear in the english wiki page as well. all we need is to insert all the information properly but there is none that can somehow help us. we want to be compliant and our purpose is not to advertise anyone. unfortunately we see that other greek and international pages are inserting those kind of information, and somehow our effort is problematic. is there anyone that can help us complete our task? we read so many pages with rules and guidance and we edited the texts so many times, in order to keep them encyclopedic. VickyMajnl, thank you for responding. It's not clear to me exactly what "problems" you're trying to fix. And you've now confirmed that this information has come from the company's HR department, which certainly makes it promotional material. It sounds to me like you have a relationship with this company, which Chalk19 identified. Editing articles about organizations with which you have an external relationship, i.e. a conflict of interest, is discouraged. Paid editing without a proper disclosure is not allowed; see WP:PAID. We collected a text from this company and researched its background, checked other companies on order to be compliant and also researched the sources of every information we gathered. How can we correct the information so it can be compliant? How other big and small companies in greece and worldwide got accepted with similar information on their pages? VickyMajnl, the above warnings are primarily about your apparent conflict of interest. I could better help you if you could answer my above question about why you are here. Are you here as part of a school project, or because the company sent you here? Or are you here because of an encyclopedic interest? Tartan357 As part of an assignment, we wanted to contribute by adding info about a company we chose. We are not sharing the account with each other. The research comes from 5 people and I am adding the info into the wiki page. We started as guests and when we tried to upload an image, we created the account. Our initial goal was to contribute on this specific page. I liked the idea of becoming contributor for other wiki pages as well, but I find it very difficult. The situation you're describing sounds fine to me; you've affirmed you're not sharing the account, and you're not externally connected with this business, so you don't have a conflict of interest. I've added a notice to Talk:Kotsovolos that you're working on an educational assignment, which should make other editors more tolerant of any mistakes you make. See WP:5P for information on Wikipedia's fundamental principles. The most important piece of advice I can give you is to stay away from sources connected with the subject, as those are likely to be highly biased. Instead, source your information from reliable, secondary sources. I'll add some more resources for you below. I'm glad to hear you intend to continue editing once your project is over, and I hope you decide to stay. Tartan357 Can I ask you two more things? How can I start contributing in other pages so I practice more? Is there a list of pages that need editing? And other than orthographic mistakes that I like to correct, how should I start? By translating english pages in greek maybe?
