You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Behind The Panels requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 03:45, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Hey, just letting you know why it was deleted. The reason in a nutshell is that it doesn't pass notability guidelines because it doesn't seem to have received enough coverage in reliable sources (WP:RS) to pass WP:NWEB or WP:GNG. The podcast obviously exists, but existing is not notability. (WP:ITEXISTS) Reliable coverage would be something that is independent of the podcast (so not WP:PRIMARY) and in a location we would consider to be reliable per our guidelines. User reviews on locations such as iTunes does not count towards notability. Popularity can sometimes help gain coverage, but it is never a guarantee.

Now as far as Wikipedia having pages about what BtP talks about, notability is not inherited. (WP:NOTINHERITED) No matter what the podcast discusses, it will never gain notability from just discussing notable topics or people. It all boils down to coverage, which doesn't seem to be out there. It's very difficult for podcasts to gain coverage since there are so many of the out there, but they must absolutely have notability prior to posting an article on Wikipedia.

I'm sorry that it doesn't pass notability guidelines. I wish that the podcast's hosts had come on to Wikipedia and asked for some help from people who are more experienced in Wikipedia's guidelines to ensure that the show would pass notability guidelines, as this would have saved you a lot of time. I don't mean that to come across as harsh, just that I really don't think it was entirely fair for them to ask you to write an article when you don't know notability guidelines and they didn't bother to read over them themselves. Since you were asked, I apologize for the show's hosts not properly researching prior to asking you to come add an article for them. Please direct them to our notability guidelines at WP:NWEB and WP:GNG (podcasts are largely lumped together with web notability) if they give you any problems or ask you to re-add the website, or if you think that they might try to re-add it before they pass notability guidelines. • I should also point you towards WP:COI, since you do have a conflict of interest. You have been up front about it so you haven't done anything wrong, but it's important that you read it just to ensure that you're familiar with it. Since the podcast hosts asked you to do it to spread information about them, I would recommend looking over WP:NOTPROMOTION. I think that your intentions are good, but I'll be honest in that I'm a little irritated with the podcast hosts since they essentially sent you out to do promotion for them without bothering to check to ensure that they pass notability guidelines. That means that if something goes wrong, you get the blame... and not them. It might be that they are trying to avoid COI, but it's still COI if they ask someone else to do it for them.
