Thanks for uploading Image:Range Rover Second Generation.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Article 744 P1110042.jpg. The copy called Image:Article 744 P1110042.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. Image tagging for Image:SNATCH Land Rover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SNATCH Land Rover.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image uploading

[edit]

Hi, every image you have uploaded today were copyright violations containing either no licence or an incorrect licence, and as such all these images have been deleted. Can you please read our our image upload policy before uploading any further images. Thanks. Nick 12:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Once again, I've had to delete all the images you have uploaded. Image copyright is a complex issue and your assertion that "I have this image on my computer and it has no copyright, so i decided to add it to wikipedia to try and expand articles." is incorrect. An image, when it is created, either by a camera or by an image package, instantly becomes the full property of the creator, in the case of these photographs, the photographer, which we know wasn't you. In the case of Land Rover press photographs, the photographer will, as part of his contract, assign copyright to Land Rover Ltd, in the case of other photographs, they may be sold or licenced to individual websites with either the photographer retaining ownership or the website purchasing the rights outright.

Commercial companies and photographers are assumed to have retained all the rights to their photographs unless they stipulate otherwise, these rights include permission to use the image, and what type of use is permitted. It is assumed in law and by us, that images may not be reused for any purpose or used in any way without the full written permission of the copyright holder.

We rely on photographers to licence their work under free licences, a licence which gives Wikimedia the right to publish and modify their work for personal or commercial purposes, normally provided any new image or document is licensed in the same way. Photographers and copyright holders, like the United States Federal Government, can also choose to waive all rights to their images by releasing them to the public domain (http://www.defenselink.mil is a good source of totally free Land Rover SNATCH photos, btw).

We can, if a free image cannot be created, in exceptional circumstances, use, under an obscure section of US copyright policy, copyrighted photographs. This is known as fair use, which exempts an individual or company from prosecution for the use of a photograph in totally unavoidable situations. Typically this extends to album covers, movie posters or clips of films and TV shows, where it's impossible, due to copyright, for a photographer to create a free image. Faithful reproduction of a 2D image generates no new copyright and the image becomes licenced under the same copyright as the original 2D image. In the case of a motor vehicle, such as a Land Rover Defender, it's easy for you or any other contributor to Wikipedia with a digital camera to go out and take a photograph, releasing it under a free licence. 3D objects such as a motor vehicle don't generally qualify for copyright as is, and any image does not fall under the same copyright as the vehicle's design, resulting in the ability to create freely licenceable images.

If you do wish to upload images to Wikipedia, you must photograph the subject yourself and release it under a free licence. A list of licences is displayed in the File upload wizard option to the left. You must not upload any image you did not create yourself unless it comes from a source that explicitly releases it under a free licence, that is a licence which permits Sharing, Modification/Derivative Work and Commercial Use at the minimum.

If you have any further concerns or questions about image copyright, please don't hesitate to contact me. Nick 00:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! —Travis C/T\U 14:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Roller Pigeon

[edit]

Message posted on Monday, June 11, 2007

[edit]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Roller Pigeon. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.austinrollers.org/ in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Roller Pigeon with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Roller Pigeon with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Roller Pigeon saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Commercial use of Image:Roller Pig.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Roller Pig.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Roller Pig.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Roller Pig.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:49, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:2007_Land_Rover_Defender_Exterior.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Theft

[edit]

I've noticed you have once again started uploading other peoples photographs to Wikipedia. This is copyright theft and is illegal, with ramifications for YOU and for Wikimedia. You have been provided with many changes and generous, detailed explanations of what you can and cannot upload to Wikipedia. If you fail to comply with our image copyright policies, you may be blocked from editing, or you could find you are prevented from uploading further files to Wikipedia. Image tagging for File:Beau Vallon Sunset.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Beau Vallon Sunset.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Reaper(TV Show).jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Reaper(TV Show).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Samsung sgh-u800.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Samsung sgh-u800.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.38.50 (talk) 04:51, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Samsung SGH-U800 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:MILL cellphone. No sources. Notability not established per WP:PRODUCT.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:GondwanaZebra.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GondwanaZebra.jpg, which you've attributed to Mike Rose Photography[who?]. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy.
