Speedy deletion nomination of VISFL
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on VISFL requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Praxidicae (talk) 11:55, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
Richmond Christian School VA moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Richmond Christian School VA, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.visaa.org/about-us/history/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
- Also, I see that you've been creating new pages, but that they have been moved to draftspace. I recommend looking over WP:RELIABLE to learn more about reliable sources on Wikipedia -- it seems your first few pages did not have enough reliable sources backing up the content that was written. Bkissin (talk) 17:05, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Jetersville, VA
[edit]Curious about the source of the statement in the article on Jetersville, Virginia, that it is "the largest populated community in Amelia County". Which set of figures and what boundaries were used to determine that? I'm not disputing the numbers, but even if they are accurate and current, they are misleading. Second-largest, maybe, but the town nowadays is barely a crossroads that has its own PO, so it's not clear why its population should be greater than that of Amelia Court House, the county seat, whose town center covers several city blocks. If the figures are correct, then the article needs some sort of qualification like [please help me with the wording] "Jetersville's so-and-so boundaries give it a greater population than that of the county seat, Amelia Court House, although the latter is larger in..." Full disclosure: I have roots and well-visited relatives in the area. :-) --2603:6081:8004:DD5:497E:E054:AD55:9B4E (talk) 01:17, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
To be honest, I don’t even remember. BUT I do have a question for you. I was informed by the Amelia Historical Society through a private message that the Maplewood Depot is the only surviving train station in Amelia. Do you happen to have any info about the station? XtraVanze (talk) 20:09, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- So sorry I didn't reply earlier to your question, @XtraVanze!!! Not sure how I missed it. (It's still me; my ISP has changed my IP address in the interim.) The only thing I can tell you about the Maplewood station is that on our way to/from visiting some of the relatives, we used to drive by a small, apparently abandoned building, right next to the RR crossing, that my mom would tell me was the old depot. Don't know anything else about it, except that it is/was on the W side of Buckskin Creek Rd just off Maplewood Rd. The Google Streetviewmobile hasn't gotten around to those roads yet [they will if someone builds a Starbucks next to the landfill ;-) ], but you can see aerial photos of the building if you go to Maplewood, Virginia, click on the map coordinates in the upper right, and then pick a map site from the list provided. Saddened to hear that it's the only depot left in the county. I'm glad to see someone else on Wikipedia who wants to help keep the history of this area alive. – 2603:6081:8040:E92C:803C:919E:6926:78A3 (talk) 06:53, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
