Please check before editing[edit]

You replaced with information at 21Z, but there is already information at 00Z. Please check the agencies more times before editing next time. -- Meow 01:13, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2014 Pacific hurricane season[edit]

Hi. Although the Best Track is maintained by the National Hurricane Center and thus may be viewed as official, it is also subject to changes before the official operational advisory. Therefore, please wait until the actual forecast package comes out (at 03z/09z/15z/21z) before changing current storm information. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 13:47, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Cyclone Name Retirements[edit]

Hi there, Until such a time we have a source that clearly states that a name was retired, we can not consider a name retired as it could have been removed for other reasons such as with the names Nute/Odile earlier this month in the Southern Pacific basin.Jason Rees (talk) 14:35, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not allowed to accept or consider a name retired per the rules on original research until i see a source that i can cite stating that it is retired. The PAGASA Naming list and an assumption that all names that cause at least 300 deaths or at least PHP 1 billion is not good enough - since names can be removed for a variety of reasons.Jason Rees (talk) 14:52, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so i see that PAGASA's list of names has now been updated to put: "Note: With * is a replaced name of the decommissioned Tropical Cyclones" However that is still not good enough imo, i need a something like a press release that clearly states the names that have been retired or decommissioned before we can add them in as retired. Even better would be a list of all of the names that have gone over the years that we can cite. Jason Rees (talk) 23:58, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please read, very important[edit]

Re:Reverted edit on 2015 typhoon season[edit]

Hey. I don't think I am the right person for this. I just follow the admins like Keith Edkins, Meow and Hurricanehink since they said it's a cat4 typhoon! I thought of that as well since I also found out that many websites sate it as a cat4 instead of cat3 so I agreed with them. BTW, the best track data for Higos is not next year, it is somewhere between March to April 2015. Typhoon2013 (talk) 06:14, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not involved in this particular case, but you need to cite your sources when adding entire paragraphs. You may have a source, yes, but you need to make sure to include it as a reference. Dustin (talk) 17:32, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but I don't understand what you're saying. I haven't reverted any of your edits except 1 since Jason Rees accepted your information. I only changed the information as in Mekkhala wasn't the strongest during January, it was Typhoon Ophelia somewhere from 1951-56. Typhoon2013 (talk) 03:22, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dissipation of Maysak[edit]

Well yes, Maysak according to "most" agencies, it had dissipated. But JMA is still tracking on it as a weak TD over the South China Sea, so it is still active. You know this from 2 years ago, right? Typhoon2013 (talk) 08:09, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

For the record Wiki takes the dates active from the RSMCs worldwide and no one else unless there is good reason to like a system not being (clearly) monitored by the RSMC. In Maysaks case there is no good reason to go against this policy even though it means us keeping Maysak as active for a couple of days longer than the international community would like.Jason Rees (talk) 08:44, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
