Helpme

[edit]

I've made a whole article from ground zero, but when I search for it with Wikipedia searching engine, my article is not listed as one of the results. Can anyone help me please?

Well, wikipedia takes time to re-index its search, sometimes even weeks. I say, just give it time. GeorgeMoney (talk) 07:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure there wasn't an article in place for that already? That may be the problem... Michael 08:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brazilian?

[edit]

Do you think it wise to put gnocchi under Brazilian cuisine? How popular is gnocchi in Brazil? I could understand Argentina, due to the large Italian population, but Brazil? I see how the article mentions that Italian dishes are popular in Brazil and other countries, but on the same note, it is also eaten in the U.S. The question remains as to how popular it actually is in Brazil. Michael 08:23, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, it seems quite peculiar that gnocchi would be the only Italian dish that is then categorized in the Brazilian cuisine category. Michael 00:09, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Searches

[edit]

Hi Yardena. In order to have an article show up in search, you need to note the capitalization. I think you're talking about List of Brazilian dishes. See how the capitalization isn't uniform? That makes it so you can't search for it - so you have to add a redirect. I just did that by creating List Of Brazilian Dishes and putting the text #REDIRECT [[List of Brazilian dishes]] in it. Now you can search for your article and it will come up. Sort of annoying, but necessary sometimes. Deleuze 19:06, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked, and I'm pretty sure that is the problem. When I search for "list of italian dishes," the result doesn't come up - that's because nobody made a proper redirect. It's the same situation with your article. See this for more information. Deleuze 05:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to help! Deleuze 05:41, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Italian-Brazilians

[edit]

But polenta is not on the list...And in the U.S., most is said about the large Portuguese populations in Brazil, while Argentina is noted for its very diverse population, which includes a very large amount of Italians. Michael 05:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I saw the list you are talking about; I was talking about the category. Gnocchi is the only Italian dish included in the Brazilian cuisine category (Category:Brazilian cuisine).
No, Argentina is best known in the U.S. for its incredibly diverse ethnic groups and the fact that they outnumber natives by far. Oh, and you need to sign your comments. You do that with four tildes (a tilde is one of these ~). Michael 03:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay. Michael 04:07, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So you know, when you list a category at the bottom of a page, you should try to alphabetize it. Michael 04:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A smile for you...
