Your contributed article, NCT (idol group)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, NCT (idol group). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – NCT (band). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at NCT (band). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Meatsgains(talk) 01:29, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Process to become a Korean Idol requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Clearly NOT an encyclopedic topic per WP:NOTHOWTO. G11 may also apply

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Notice

The article Process to become a Korean Idol has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly NOT an encyclopedic topic per WP:NOTHOWTO. G11 may also apply

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. xplicit 05:55, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions[edit]

Hi! I wanted to give you some feedback on the articles.

NCT

This already had an article at NCT (band), so my recommendation is that if you had any information in your draft that wasn't in the existing article, to merge it in. Offhand it looks like this was a copy of the existing article, which if this is what was done, please avoid doing this in the future. If you were trying to create a new redirect, I can help you with this.

Process to become a Korean Idol

There's already a section on the idol process at Korean_idol#Overview, which could use some expansion. However I will note that anything that is added must be backed up with reliable sources. With the prior page, it may serve as a redirect to this section. What say you, John from Idegon, Explicit?

I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:25, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Process to become a Korean Idol, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. New articles generally need at least two (but preferably more) references from reliable sources that are independent of the subject that discuss the subject with significant coverage (trivial mentions do not contribute to notability).(See Rule 42) Information that can't be referenced to reliable sources should be removed from the draft because verifiability is necessary for information added to Wikipedia.
I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of Draft: before the article title) where you can work on the article with minimal disruption from other users while you improve it.
When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready to be published, you can move it back to the article space yourself. However, I recommend that instead of moving it yourself that you follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template that I have added to the page. This submits the article to be reviewed by experienced editors that specialize in helping new editors write their first articles. Vexations (talk) 21:27, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Hi - I'd previously brought this up on your talk page here.

Your article on the process of becoming a Korean idol is up for deletion. It was previously deleted because it was seen as too much of a how to guide. There's also an issue with tone - it's written as more of an essay than an encyclopedic article. It also seemed like it was redundant to a section on this topic on the main article for Korean_idol#Overview and I'd recommended that you look into expanding that section. I don't really know that the process of becoming an idol is something that would truly justify its own article on Wikipedia per se - it's definitely something that should be covered in the main article on Korean idols, where it can be given proper context. There's also an issue with tone - it's written as more of an essay than an encyclopedic article.

My recommendation is to move the content back into your sandbox and work on expanding the section in the main article. I'll also ping your professor (Hkim856) to see if she has any additional feedback. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:33, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yui Kasahara, I am Barkeep49 and I help participate in Wikipedia's new page patrol. Shalor (Wiki Ed) has pointed out many of the problems with your article that I was coming here to say. I would echo his suggestions and points of concern. Because it is for a WikiEd class I have gone ahead and moved it into your userspace for further development at User:Yui Kasahara/The process to become a Korean Idol. I think your best chance of having an article on this would be to focus on K-Pop Trainee System - this is a small part of the larger K-pop article now - there might be enough good sources to let it have its own article. However it will have to move from an essay tone to an encyclopedic tone - which is a normal challenge for students like you participating in a WikiEd class. If I can be of more help please let me know. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 19:44, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Resilient Barnstar
Although your contribution is deleted from the main page, I think you've endeavored to contribute to a bank of K-pop related information. I wish you could have decided on a topic early on and figured out how to develop an existing entry on idols. Hkim856 (talk) 01:17, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Yui Kasahara. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Process to become a Korean Idol".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 08:34, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
