Request reason:

this account is constantly and randomly associated with open proxy IPs and it's extremely annoying to have to wait so long just to get assigned to another random IP that is not considered "open proxy". i thought the only way to circumvent the problem is to register an account, which is what I did? so why is it still giving me problems?

Accept reason:

Because, it seems, what you really need is IP block exemption, and I'll take care of that for you right now. — Daniel Case (talk) 16:04, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

IP block exempt[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Daniel Case (talk) 16:04, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you! Your help with this IP block exemption is very appreciated! --Zappyzac (talk) 16:08, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Young Out Here[edit]

I see you are one of the main contributers for this article. Welome to Wikipedia. I hope you are planning to add more to the page. An organization's own web page or blog isn't accepted by Wikipedia as a main source. Are there any news reports about the group? You need something to show that the group is"notable" enough for it's own article. Cloveapple (talk) 20:17, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you, Cloveapple, for your message, and thanks for extending a warm welcome to me. To answer your question, I am unsure of the status of the page currently. Also, due to the nature of the under publicized information regarding these events and groups here in Singapore, I am unable to find adequate online references or news reports regarding the group. The group has survived well in 5 years considering the tenacious nature of LGBT issues in Singapore with it being an Out-of-Bounds topic set by the government, and the available information that I am able to find are all written in the page, with references cited to the best I can, while the rest of the uncited information are from several word of mouth sources with a interview with some of the people involved in the work, of which, all of them requested to stay anonymous. I hope you understand the situation, and if this is not a good practice, please let me know and I would be glad if you could suggest some solutions without resorting to the deletion of the page or information that cannot be found otherwise here. Thank you once again for your interest and for taking time to reply. =] Zappyzac (talk) 16:45, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I can understand why you are unsure of the page's status. Those official looking notices can look scary. Right now nobody has even suggested deleting the article. (That would look like the red bordered notice at the top of this article.) And even if somebody posted a notice saying it was being considered for deletion there's always a discussion first that anybody can comment in. Plus if you can solve the issues its tagged for, then you can take the notices off.
Does the Out-of-Bounds designation mean that it's illegal to discuss LGBT issues in the media? That's horrible. I'm not sure what can be done to make the article fit Wikipedia's guidelines. I'm still fairly new at some of this so there might be some way to solve this that I'm missing. Unfortunately there's a policy that you can't use original research. You might have enough material to write a more general article on LGBT groups in Singapore and then have a couple external links at the end, but I don't think you'll able to keep all the information in this article. You might try looking at what sources other articles are using to see if they give you ideas. I looked at a couple other articles on LGBT stuff in Singapore and I saw there's a book called People Like Us. Does it say anything helpful? Can you use it as a source? Cloveapple (talk) 20:24, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I forgot to add that if you want you can get the article moved to a user page while you work on a draft and then moved back to official article space when you feel it's ready. If you want that I'll ask someone to move it for you. Cloveapple (talk) 06:09, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
I am somehow blocked now apparently because of "04:39, 7 July 2011 DeltaQuad (talk | contribs) blocked Zappyzac (talk | contribs) (account creation blocked) with an expiry time of indefinite ‎ (Abusing multiple accounts: Please see: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Irvine22: GoharShahi)" This is damn annoying and unwarranted because they should be able to check that there is only one account using my email address. It is easy to create a new account with another email address, but I'd rather somebody remove this stupid thing and do something about the person who blocked me! Zappyzac (talk) 04:32, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
I just saw your note about being blocked. Don't make a new account. That would make the situation much worse.
I left a note on the talk page of the editor who made the final comment on the investigation page (investigating whether somebody had used multiple accounts). I'm not 100% sure, but I thnk that two editors were expressing at least a little doubt as to whether you are a "sock puppet." (That's slang for somebody secretly using multiple accounts.) The investigation is archived, but I'm sure there's a way to re-open it. Just wait and people will help sort this out. Cloveapple (talk) 00:59, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that note you left! It really helped unblocking my account! =] --Zappyzac (talk) 14:13, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

I would just like to let you know that you have been unblocked. It appears initially that you were blocked as we found another account, GoharShahi (talk · contribs) that was created, apparently by you. However, I noted that it's possible you decided to change your account name, but weren't aware of the process to do so, so I requested your block to be lifted, and it has. Just for future reference, if you do want to change your name, you can do so at Wikipedia:Rename as opposed to starting a new account. Sorry about the mix-up. Happy editing. My Apologies[edit]

My Apologies, I have taken a closer look, and my block was incorrect. I somehow over looked the evidence, sorry about that and if you need anything, stop by my talkpage with the (t) in my signature. -- DQ (t) (e) 20:45, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2014[edit]

Hi Zappyzac. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 17:55, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

If you come across any LGBT-related articles needing improvement, or if you know of articles that should be created, you may add them here. Perhaps start local. Are there any local (and notable, by Wikipedia standards) LGBT organizations, events or other cultural activities? What about at the national level? Other ways to contribute include uploading pictures, either by taking your own photographs or uploading them from Flickr, if you are familiar with the process. All contributions, small or large, are helpful to Wikipedia! --Another Believer (Talk) 17:30, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride![edit]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!
