Rzewski children
[edit]Hello, and thanks for your work on the Frederic Rzewski article. Regarding this edit which you labelled "was a typo", I think it is clear from the editor's edit summary here that it was intentional and not a typo. This editor may have personal knowledge and I think we should be cautious and sensitive. Is there a precedent for how Wikipedia deals with cases where a source says one thing and an editor says something different? --188.30.22.23 (talk) 09:40, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi! Everything on Wikipedia must be verifiable. It is the burden of the editor who introduced the claim to support it with an inline citation to a reliable, independent source. Even if the editor is 100% sure something is true, or if they have a personal connection to the subject (which might very well be the case here), it must be verifiable before it can be introduced. In other words, verifiability, not truth. It might very well be the case that the WaPo source is mistaken. But a correction would usually have been submitted by now... Zingarese talk · contribs 20:04, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, yes, that's very much as I thought. I had already reverted the change once, which is why I marked it with the "failed verification" tag the second time for fear of being accused of edit warring. --188.30.22.23 (talk) 20:56, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ah. I see. I didn't check the revision history closely enough. In any case, I think I will tag + write a note on the editor's talk page if they change this information again. Zingarese talk · contribs 19:33, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
