Velma, Illinois

Velma is an unincorporated community in Christian County, Illinois, United States. It lies at 39°30′53″N 89°13′57″W / 39.51472°N 89.23250°W / 39.51472; -89.23250.[1]

A post office was established in 1894. The first postmaster, Hiram Shumway, named the hamlet for his daughter Velma.[2]
