"When the Children Cry" is a ballad performed by the rock band White Lion. It is the third single and 10th and final track on their 1987 album Pride. The single peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks[1] and #88 in the UK in early 1989.

The song was also re-recorded in 1999 on the album Remembering White Lion (also released as "Last Roar" in 2004). A live version was released on the album Rocking the USA. The re-recorded and live versions were both released as promo singles and later on iTunes.[2] In 2004, an acoustic version of "When the Children Cry" was included on the "VH1 Classic Metal Mania: Stripped" compilation.

In early 2003, just before the beginning of the Iraq War, it was covered by Christian indie rock group Seventh Day Slumber. In 2008, the song was sampled by Sabac Red on "As Children Cry".
