[edit]How to write a biography about someone
[edit]I would like some help to be able to create a biography about someone, what are the steps I need to take.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:585:8101:1AA7:BD07:8714:79A5:1DD0 (talk) 00:25, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

Nominating for a DYK the second time
[edit]Can a article be nominated for a DYK twice? I can't figure out how I would nominate Go Vacation for a DYK, since when I use the nominating tool thingy here, it just brings me to the page to edit the previous nomination that happened for the article in 2011. Thanks, TheAwesomeHwyh (talk) 01:10, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- WP:DYKRULES 1d states: "Articles that have featured (bold link) previously on DYK, or in a blurb on the main page's In the news, or On this day sections are ineligible." MB 01:40, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, I hadn't seen that page. TheAwesomeHwyh (talk) 01:58, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- DYK is for new articles or those that have been expanded at least five-fold recently. Neither applies here, as far as I can see. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:40, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- This is a new GA, which is another eligibility, but disallowed in this case due to previous DYK as a new article. MB 05:57, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- I stand (or rather sit) corrected. Clarityfiend (talk) 06:05, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

Writing an article
[edit]Hello! I would like to create an article about a notable professor and I didn't understand the full procedure of submitting and publishing an article. I have the content of the article and as I read on academic notability he qualifies, I would like your assistance about how to do it. Thank you, Oak9500 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oak9500 (talk • contribs) 09:16, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oak9500 You may use Articles for Creation to submit your draft, making sure that you have independent reliable sources to support its content. You may also wish to read Your First Article. 331dot (talk) 09:36, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
template has no content but has duplicate template in template/doc
[edit]Does anybody know how to edit this? When I cut top template from doc and paste it into template it causes loop. When I remove that from template there is no template at all but only template doc. Are not templates supposed to have content (regardless of doc) themselves? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Alternative_medicine_sidebar AsocSurv (talk) 11:01, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- @AsocSurv: The template had content, but had been coded not to display itself on its own template page. I've changed this; now there is a default copy of the template above the documentation and another example within the documentation. Is this clearer? -- John of Reading (talk) 11:15, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- @John of Reading: Good now! And maybe that in doc is not needed... AsocSurv (talk) 11:30, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
Help:Cite errors/Cite error references no key
[edit]The article Daniel Dale has this message at the bottom: A list-defined reference has no name (see the help page). I do not know which one this refers to or how to fix it.
Katsheron (talk) 18:49, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- this one; should probably be

Using a location name as an adjective
[edit]In the article "Esselen language", I changed "California language" to "Californian language". Could anyone please tell me if the former was okay? I hate to change somebody else's work like that.--75.110.35.108 (talk) 22:37, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Seems an improvement to me. Don't worry about changing somebody else's work: if somebody disagrees with you they might revert your change, and if you don't accept their reversion, you can initiate a discussion about it: this is how Wikipedia develops. Please see WP:BRD. --ColinFine (talk) 22:59, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. What if the person doesn't bother checking back?--Thylacine24 (talk) 00:52, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- If they don't bother checking back, then your edit (which ColinFine and I both consider an improvement) will stand; at least until someone else edits that sentence. Maproom (talk) 07:06, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Two questions about "Esselen" article
[edit]- Could anyone please tell me if it was okay to add the preposition "with" to the sentence "...they provided de la Cuesta with some language"?
- The same section identifies Isabel Meadows as the last fluent speaker of Esselen, though her own article says she was the last fluent speaker of the Ohlone language. The cited source may or may not differ; I couldn't tell from the text. Could anyone please tell me if this is correct or not?--Thylacine24 (talk) 22:56, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thylacine24, with is fine.
- I read the reference in the Esselen article as saying that bilingualism was common and that Meadows was the last speaker of the languages, i.e. Esselen and Ohlone. So both articles seem to be correct.TSventon (talk) 00:20, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks on both counts.--Thylacine24 (talk) 00:53, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
I have breaking news of Sunday
[edit]Hi, I need help, I have breaking news of Sunday, but on Current Events, the BOT has not yet added the Sunday template, is there any form to place it? --LLcentury (talk) 23:02, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- @LLcentury: Please link the page you refer to. If it's Portal:Current events then it's not edited by a bot. It will automatically display Portal:Current events/2019 June 23 after midnight UTC in 15 minutes. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:45, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
