[edit]Passing (racial identity) and Racial misrepresentation
[edit]The articles, Passing (racial identity) and Racial misrepresentation cover the same ground. I feel they should be merged or at least merging them should be discussed. I don't know how to set about merging them. Proxima Centauri (talk) 11:39, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Proxima Centauri, you could start a conversation at Talk:Passing (racial identity),which has over 100 watchers and post links to relevant wikiprojects. Proceed with caution as racial identity is obviously a controversial topic. TSventon (talk) 14:32, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Racial misrepresentation is a broader topic than Passing (racial identity). However Racial misrepresentation is a severely underdeveloped article. Arguably, Racial misrepresentation should have a sub-section on passing, with a link to the main article on passing. However Racial misrepresentation is so badly underdeveloped that incorporating any content regarding passing threatens to overwhelm the article on Racial misrepresentation. For that reason I do not think a merge is appropriate.~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:00, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Map layout help
[edit]Can you adjust the map layout in the middle in the 2017 Koshe landslide please? And clear the "2017 Koshe landslide (Ethiopia)" in the caption. The Supermind (talk) 15:59, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- The Supermind please can you explain how you want the map layout to be adjusted. TSventon (talk) 16:10, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @The Supermind: I removed the caption (as described in the documentation for
{{location map}}
) and pushed the first heading down below the end of the infobox (as described in the documentation for{{clear}}
and{{TOC left}}
. Is this the result you were looking for? -Arch dude (talk) 16:29, 8 July 2021 (UTC)- @Arch dude: Good joob, but why the map aligned to the right? The Supermind (talk) 17:30, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @The Supermind: Sorry, but I cannot find it. The
{{Infobox event}}
) documentation doesn't even mention "map" as a valid parameter so it appears to be black magic (or perhaps a synonym for "image"). Perhaps you can ask on the template's talk page or at WP:VPT. -Arch dude (talk) 18:52, 8 July 2021 (UTC)- @The Supermind: Fixed with |float=center in {{Location map}} --Verbarson (talk) 19:24, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

How to investigate paid editors?
[edit]I believe all the socks of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sathish Kathiravan are involved in paid editing. I don't know how to investigate or whom I should refer to for an investigation. Could someone point me? Thanks! -- DaxServer (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- DaxServer there is some policy at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure#Reporting undisclosed paid editors. TSventon (talk) 13:21, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

mobile crane
[edit]HOW MANY GEAR LEVERS HAVE WHAT IS PURPOSE OF DIP STICK — Preceding unsigned comment added by PILANE NIGEL MOYO (talk • contribs) 19:47, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- PILANE NIGEL MOYO Please don't yell(use all caps). This is not a general help desk, but a place to ask questions about using Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 20:11, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi PILANE NIGEL MOYO. I'm not entirely clear what you are asking. Perhaps our article on Mobile crane can help? Otherwise, this page is for help using or editing Wikipedia. If you are asking questions about mobile cranes, perhaps the people at the reference desk can help. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:13, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- POLANE NIGEL MOYO I... want to help but I'm genuinely baffled by this.
- Please stop shouting.
- This is the help desk for wikipedia, did you want the Reference desk?
- Did you mean "How many gear levers do cranes have?" In that case, well, it depends on who made it.
- Dip sticks are what we call the rod that you use to check the oil level. If you're asking how to drive a mobile crane I'm pretty sure that's not an immediate concern.
- Why are you asking a forum about driving a crane? Shouldn't you read the manual, or ask the person who you got it from? Honestly I'm more concerned by the lack of context than the question. // NomadicVoxel contributions, pls {{ping}} me 20:58, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Is this an appropriate redirect to write?
[edit]I was thinking about making the redirect "Interest model" > "Short-rate model", but wasn't sure if it would be approved. That is what this means, though, right? I was going to work on adding more links in Rule_of_78s, if the context matters. I was surprised to find that interest model 404s. Thanks in advance. // NomadicVoxel contributions, pls {{ping}} me 20:44, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- I think you would be better off creating a disambiguation page or set index article at that title. A redirect implies that the two terms are synonyms, but there are other interest models such as the Hull-White model and Vasicek model (see some others from search results). A set index article defining what an interest model is, followed by a list and brief description of the different models, would be an excellent addition to the encyclopedia, in my opinion. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 20:53, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ah. I completely misinterpreted something. No more skim-reading and editing for me. But yeah, I agree that would be a very handy list to have. I'm not sure I'd be the guy to write the intro and descriptions, but perhaps I can get the ball rolling by reading and collecting the list? I'm not a math guy but I think I can trust myself with that much at least. I should do this by writing a Sandbox draft and asking others to look it over, right?// [NomadicVoxel] [talk\ctbs] 21:17, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- That's probably a good idea, or you could use for example Draft:Interest model. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 21:21, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
