Darts while pregnant[edit]

What are the rules regarding playing darts while pregnant? On Saturday the commentators said Clare was 7 months pregnant. Surely the stress of trying to become World Champion is not good for the baby? (Mobile mundo (talk) 17:39, 9 January 2017 (UTC))[reply]

You are making the claim that stress is not good for babies in the womb. Why? What is that claim based on? There are many studies on early childhood abuse and neglect as a negative stress. It is important to read your own statement and not be condescending. Your statement clearly described stress in general, not the specific case posed by the OP. I was commenting to the question, not to your response. The question is asking why our society could possibly allow a woman to go submit her unborn child to the gut-wrenching stress of playing darts. My daughter-in-law is 8 months pregnant with her second child. She is still at work running her hydrotherapy business and is perfectly healthy and happy. It's to be hoped that the woman's doctor would be involved in any discussion about anything that might be "stressful". Read this. It happens at the highest levels of sport often enough. Cornelia Pfohl competed twice in Archery while pregnant, winning a bronze medal in 2000 (early in one pregnancy) and placing 18th in 2004 (7 months pregnant). The answer is that women who are pregnant can do whatever they want, under the advice of qualified medical professionals, and don't need unknown, paternalistic random men on the internet speculating on what they could or could not do for the "health" of their baby. --Jayron 32 21:18, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
