The result of the discussion was merge Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor into Template:Infobox person.. Cases of musical artists and groups should be transitioned over to {{infobox musical artist}}. Additionally, {{Infobox Chinese}} can be embedded into infobox modules as needed. Propose merging Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor with Template:Infobox person.
Unnecessarily ethnocentric, and nothing that cannot be accommodated by Infobox person. Please refer to the relevant discussions Template:Infobox actor, Template:Infobox_entertainer, Template:Infobox_Indian_actor, Template:Infobox_Indian_TV_actor, etc.
As far as I can see, the only differences are 1) romanizations: this information can be easily embedded using Template:Infobox name module or Template:Infobox Chinese; 2) a parameter called "ethnicity" that links to List of ethnic groups in China: this parameter shouldn't be in infoboxes per RfC: Ethnicity in infobox; 3) a parameter called "ancestry" that links to ancestral home (Chinese): I would argue this outdated idea is even more controversial than ethnicity/religion in Infoboxes (a person may have never been to their ancestral home in their life), and 4) numerous Chinese/Asian awards: which shouldn't be in Infoboxes per Discussion: Awards_in_infobox, but if necessary, can be included using the "award" parameter in Infobox person. - Oppose. This template is also used for Chinese-language musical groups and/or bands. --Dabao qian (talk) 08:02, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- those cases would be obviously migrated to {{infobox musical artist}}. Frietjes (talk) 13:23, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- support after replacing with either {{infobox person}} or {{infobox musical artist}} (with the name module), depending on the usage. Frietjes (talk) 13:23, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support per Frietjes. This is just pointless. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 21:33, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support per Timmyshin (merge to "person") and Frietjes (migrate to "musical artist"). yoyo (talk) 15:05, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support. The Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor would be obviously migrated to Template:Infobox person. Only need to add 8 parameters (Traditional Chinese name, Simplified Chinese name, Pinyin Chinese name, Bopomofo Chinese name, Yale Chinese name, Jyutping Chinese name, Pe̍h-ōe-jī Chinesename, and Vietnamese name) to the Template:Infobox person.--Huangdan2060 (talk) 07:00, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Template:Infobox Chinese contains all of these parameters, you just need to embed it: e.g. like Ting Shan-hsi. Timmyshin (talk) 21:14, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. The template is specially conceived for artists, musical groups and bands in the Chinese entertainment industry and has its significance. I think it would be much logical if the Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor is merged with Template:Infobox musical artist. Ernestchuajiasheng (talk) 11:41, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Neither is completely satisfactory, the solution is to migrate to both per User:Frietjes. I'm not sure how it's done technically, but musical artists can be identified by the occupation of parameters "genre" and "instrument". Timmyshin (talk) 21:18, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support per Timmyshin. No reason to have a whole new template just to add some translated and transliterated names. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 20:55, 20 November 2017 (UTC) - Oppose per Ernestchuajiasheng. The template is specially designed for Chinese artists. Adding an inferior template would make it harder to add the Chinese characters and translated names. Also the lack of color in the proposed template is worrying as it would make it harder for the naked eye to tell apart the different sections. Inter&anthro (talk) 22:02, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
