December 26[edit]

Request on 01:17:03, 26 December 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Nashaj79[edit]

Hello,

The reviewer SwisterTwister rejected the article for the band Grand Baton noting that the band was not 'notable' though several reliable articles/resources were included. The band has and continues to work with a Grammy Award winning artist and has received a great deal of press including notations on the Wikipedia Commons page; therefore it would be helpful to receive additional clarifying information on what additional information is needed to confirm they are important to support their inclusion on Wikipedia. Any assistance would greatly appreciated as the band information would be a great inclusion to Wikipedia. Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide concerning the article review, and revisions etc. Looking forward to hearing from you!

User:Nashaj79 - Read the musical notability guidelines. Which of the criteria for listing does the band satisfy? Focus on that, and on sources that confirm that point. Also, there is no inherited notability for working with Grammy-award-winning artists or other notable artists. Read the inherited notability concept. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert McClenon (talkcontribs) 16:03, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

04:12:22, 26 December 2016 review of submission by John Warner Smith[edit]

John Warner Smith (talk) 04:12, 26 December 2016 (UTC) My submission has been rejected twice, but the article is well supported by verfiable sources. I could use more specific advice about how I can improve the article. thanksJohn Warner Smith (talk) 04:12, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:John Warner Smith - The draft is Draft:John Warner Smith. First, read the autobiography guideline. You say that you could use more specific advice, but you probably don't want the advice not to submit an autobiography. It is still the usual advice here. Second, as the reviewer noted, the sources are your own works and interviews, which are not considered independent sources. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:59, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Robert, many thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I should just back off and allow someone else to contribute, even though they will say the same thing and provide the same sources as evidence. You can't talk about a writer's contributions to the literary canon without citing the writer's sources or what others are saying about the writer's art. Again, many thanks.John Warner Smith (talk) 00:28, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John Warner Smith "what others are saying about the writer's art" is exatly what is lacking. But not just any "others", the commentary of professional critics, academics and other acknowleged "experts" should form the basis of the article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 05:58, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The submission has quotes from Terrance Hayes and Thomas Sayers Ellis, two award-winning poets and teachers of creative writing. Each of them comments on the writer's work. Is that not enough?John Warner Smith (talk) 01:03, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

07:06:52, 26 December 2016 review of submission by Peterb1234[edit]

Peterb1234 (talk) 07:06, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, If is hard determine from the multiple comments, but will my article be published? If not, What is the most efficient and expeditious way to move to the next step.

Many thanks,

Peterb1234

ArtIcle Draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Williamsburg_Independent_Film_Festival,_inc.

There is no such draft. You probably mean Draft:The Williamsburg Independent Film Festival, inc. Maproom (talk) 15:40, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
User:Peterb1234 - First, as the reviewers have commented, the draft needs independent third-party sources that are more than local to New York City. Second, the draft is very poorly formatted and needs cleanup. Third, the most expeditious next steps are to determine if the needed sources exist and to add them, and to improve the formatting of the draft. If you need advice on what is wrong with the formatting of the draft, you may ask here. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:55, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
User:Peterb1234 - You posted a list of links about the film festival to my talk page. They don’t appear to be in the draft article. They need to be in the draft article, and they need to be formatted correctly. The references that are now in the draft are just run together. If you need advice in how to format references or in how to format drafts, please ask for advice.
Also, the draft says: “This factor has made the festival a favorite with both audiences and filmmakers.” That, in the voice of Wikipedia, is peacock language. Also, you refer to “our institution”. If you are editing on behalf of the Williamsburg Film Festival, you must declare your conflict of interest. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:15, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
User:Peterb1234 - You don't seem to be paying attention. You are so busy being cheerful and polite, which is good but is not enough, that you aren't addressing the message. First, you haven't put the references into the draft. Maybe, like some new enthusiastic editors, you think that providing them to a reviewer on their talk page is good enough; it isn't. Second, you haven't improved the formatting. Third, you haven't addressed the conflict of interest issue. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:00, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

09:07:51, 26 December 2016 review of submission by Visrajmathan 0614[edit]

Dear Helpdesk,

I created a Wiki article for Goji Food Solutions a while ago. It was declined twice. The first time because of bad references, the second time because of "blatant advertising". I tried to ask the reviewer about support on how to improve the article so that it is not seen as advertising, which was not my intention at all.

Until now, I did not get any response from the reviewer (more than 30 days ago now). Can anyone here assist me in the article creation?

Thanks in advance and happy holidays! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Visrajmathan 0614 (talkcontribs) 10:11, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Visrajmathan - First, I will comment that you wrote "Goji provides solutions for oven manufacturers seeking to incorporate solid-state RF cooking technology in their products. " Read the solutions essay. Many reviewers (including me) think that anything that talks about "solutions" (other than mixtures) is pure marketing. Second, the draft talks about radio-frequency heating and cooking (the industry) and, to a lesser degree, what the company does, but not what others have said about the company (corporate notability). Third, your only edits have been about this draft. What is your association with Goji? Robert McClenon (talk) 15:52, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Robert McClenon Robert, thank you for the detailed response which is helpful. With respect to “solutions” I understand the issue and to avoid it I deleted the entire “Products” section. I note that the full company’s name is Goji Food Solutions and therefore I didn’t change the word “Solutions” in the company’s name. In terms of corporate notability Goji was covered by Times of Israel (which has readership of over 2 million as of 2014 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Times_of_Israel), AMPERE journal (which is well recognized in the microwave industry) and some food or food processing blogs / online news pages. They also raised $25M from New Enterprise Associates (NEA) which are one of the biggest venture capital firms in the world. This is indeed my first article. I have come across the company while researching innovations in the German home appliance market (I am based in Germany). I did add information about the industry itself since there isn’t much about domestic RF cooking with solid-state technology on Wikipedia however perhaps it’s better to create a separate article for this topic as it is expected to be a real revolution and of course not exclusive for Goji. Request on 21:26:56, 26 December 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Youazo96[edit]

Hello, i'm trying to create a wiki page about De Boss ( , but unfortenatly it was refused when it has been reviewed.. Please help me to make it accepted Thanks

Youazo96 (talk) 21:26, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Youazo96 The main concerns here are that he's simply not satisfying our policies and it's clear this is only something fitting for his social media, of which we are not. The Draft simply contains names and words of others, that's not how an article gets accepted. SwisterTwister talk 22:57, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
