Request on 08:19:59, 12 August 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Warda2018[edit]

Can I get the reason of rejecting my page?

Warda2018 (talk) 08:19, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warda2018 Hi, Your article has been deleted under G11 - Unambiguous advertising or promotion - see HERE and a message had sent to you prior the deletion on your talk page at 2:06 am, 10 August 2018. Please note Wikipedia is an encyclopedia where articles are written in a neutral point of view in plain and factual fashion and not a place for promotion or advertising for the subjects. Please read WP:Your First Article on how to write an article in Wikipedia. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:13, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

13:27:55, 12 August 2018 review of submission by Goonie78[edit]

Hi, I am wondering how to add more notability to my article. The Elvis Room had a large impact on the NH music scene and gave many prominent bands their first stage. That said, it was in a relatively small city and since additional references from 1993-1999 were in print newspapers they are problematic to cite. Pitchfork is a prominent music site. To me it would be great to have Boston Globe references but the Elvis Room was not in Boston or a major city. I see many wiki pages for small town bands without any references so I was surprised to see notability as an issue.

As a fan of the arts and music history I would really like to preserve this part of history on Wikipedia and appreciate any help in getting this article to see the light of day.

Goonie78 (talk) 13:27, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Goonie78: There's no way to "add notability". Notability (in the Wikipedia sense of the word) depends on multiple independent, reliable sources. If there are none, the subject is assumed to be non-notable. If there are more sources, add them. If not, too bad. Kleuske (talk) 13:31, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Did music critics or other independent sources comment on the significance of the Elvis Room? If so, quote them. When I declined it, it only focused on what the Elvis Room's owners would have said about it, and not what third parties said. As Kleuske said, if third parties have not written about it, it may not be notable. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:59, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What makes The North Jefferson News significant, but The Trussville Tribune not significant? Scott Buttram (talk) 20:48, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scott Buttram, please clarify what you mean by "significant"? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:09, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Roger, I wish I could clarify. The reviewer for Wikipedia said one of the reasons for declining the article was that the subject was insignificant, that "all small town newspapers were not significant." Yet, there are very similar newspapers with Wiki articles. I'm trying to understand the difference.

Hi Scott Buttram. It is natural to learn by example, but is safer to work from the official guidelines, in this case Wikipedia:Notability (media). Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality articles and poor quality articles. The existence of articles that do not meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines is not a good excuse to create more such articles. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why. If you wish to learn from example articles, be sure to use only Wikipedia's best. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:00, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

22:14:10, 12 August 2018 review of submission by HamishMc[edit]

I am requesting a re-review of my page because I do not agree with the reason for its declination. The reason I have been given is WP:COI and while I do agree that I, as the writer, have a Conflict of Interest in writing the article in that it is my family's business, the article has been written entirely from a neutral point of view and simply states the history of the company and other facts.

I have updated one of the sources for the distribution zones for each paper so it does not come from the New Jersey Hills Media Group website but the other sources for the history of the paper NEED to come from the website. The company is a reliable source for its own history and no other source has covered the intimate history (ie purchasing dates of each paper) of the company. I have reviewed other Wikipedia articles for newspaper businesses including The New York Times Company, the Princeton Packet, and East Bay Newspapers, for whether their company history is sourced from their own sites or from foreign sites and the three source history from their own sites, don't source history at all, or bypass your filters by sourcing from TheWaybackMachine's archive of their own website.

I have removed the links to each paper's individual website but maintained the company's URL in the infobox, as that is mimicked on other newspaper company websites I have seen, and doesn't appear as advertising.

If the sourcing of information is not the issue with the article as I have figured it is, please let me know so I can make all of the changes advised! Thank you very much.

HamishMc (talk) 22:14, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

HamishMc, Greetings. First of all, Wikipedia strongly discourage editor with COI to write the interested article as at times content subjectivity might hard to achieve. Please note for a page to be accepted to Wikipedia main space, the article needs to be notable where the content is supported by significant coverageindependent, reliable sources where by the the sources talk about the subject directly in length and in dept and not merely passing mentioned.. Dependent sources such as the history info as mentioned by you above could be use, however, it can NOT demonstrate the notability of the article. Thank you. 73.217.38.4 God day. I am not sure which musician you are referring to; however, a musician/music artist need to meet the music bio notability requirements, and the content is supported by significant coverage of independent reliable sources whereby the sources talk about the subject directly in dept and in lenght and not merely passing mentioned. Social media such as fb, IMBD, listings, home page and user generated content and interviews are not considered independent and / or reliable sources. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:41, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We submitted a draftfor the poet an'ya and it was rejected, we have corrected, and revised the draft, and need to know "where" and "how" to resubmit Tankaan'ya (talk) 23:46, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tankaan&#39 Greetings. Please read WP:Your First Article], WP:Referencing for Beginners to familiar yourself on how to write an article and citing in Wikipedia. Secondly you would refer to William Blake for reference of the format and sub topics of a poet. In addition, please use WP: Article Wizard to write the article (follow the instructions) and there will be button for you to submit the draft article for review after you have rework on the current one. thank you.
