01:47, 13 December 2023 review of submission by 73.14.88.241

[edit]

Trying to build out my Wiki page. Figured I was notable enough to have one exist since I'm currently running professionally and would like to begin applying for things that require notability online. I am failing the notability test per the last user to review, although I don't believe those stipulations apply to me, since I was a NCAA Division 2 athlete and not a Division 1 athlete. The awards I won in division 2 should be sufficient to get the draft accepted. What else do I need to add? 73.14.88.241 (talk) 01:47, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Though it is not forbidden, it is highly advised that people not write about themselves, please read WP:AUTO. Your draft was rejected, meaning that it will not be considered further. Unfortunately the notability criteria specify Division 1, not 2. I don't see any national awards that you won discussed in tbe draft. 331dot (talk) 02:34, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

05:40, 13 December 2023 review of submission by YoyoFSI

[edit]

The person that I want to make an article for is a very famous person in Bangladesh, but all the wiki mods think that he isn't "notable" enough, what should I do? YoyoFSI (talk) 05:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@YoyoFSI: what you should do is produce evidence that demonstrates this person's notability. So far you haven't. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:20, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

05:51, 13 December 2023 review of submission by VIMALKUMAR PAREKH

[edit]

why this article rejected ? VIMALKUMAR PAREKH (talk) 05:51, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@VIMALKUMAR PAREKH: this draft was rejected because there is no suggestion, let alone evidence, of notability. In any case, you should not be writing about yourself, see WP:AUTOBIO. Try LinkedIn or similar. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

08:23, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Whatchaknowaboutrollindownindadeep

[edit]

I actually just translated this page from Russian Wikipedia using the translation tool, which sometimes does not meet other wikipedia's requirements. It did contain some strange definitions, like a "military expert" or "strategic development". I removed them, but I don't know what to do next to get it accepted. Whatchaknowaboutrollindownindadeep (talk) 08:23, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Whatchaknowaboutrollindownindadeep: this has been declined for non-encyclopaedic language, which probably means that sort of staccato text of incomplete sentences like "In 2007, retired to military reserve from the army." and "Born on 30 March, 1966 in Dresden, East Germany." Please rewrite in complete sentences adn grammatically correct language.
Also, the referencing is inadequate, both in terms of insufficient citations, as well as many of the sources being unreliable (namely, YouTube).
This is a good illustration of a common problem in translating articles between different language versions of Wikipedia: it is seldom enough to merely translate; you usually have to adapt and supplement to meet the standards of the target Wikipedia. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:31, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why aren't is it published 41.116.87.194 (talk) 08:44, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

09:02, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Mint0ri

[edit]

On November 7, 2023, my draft article for the Glen Echo Park Aquarium was rejected by a staff member simply for "no WP:SIGCOV," which seems to mean significant notability of reliable sources to the topic at hand. I wanted more clarification on this, as I feel that I have provided my due diligence with primary sources from the actual newspaper of the town where this establishment is located, mostly for the history section. I will try my best to find more sources, but I can't guarantee that they'll be especially helpful to the history section, which I may just cut/modify to have a better resubmission chance. Mint0ri (talk) 09:02, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Mint0ri: 'sigcov' is shorthand for significant coverage, which means that the source has written about the subject directly and in sufficient extent and detail, not just mentioning it in passing or incidentally in some other context. In simple terms, the article/programme/etc. must be about the subject, not merely name-checking the subject. HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:11, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

10:28, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Usr TC17

[edit]

Hello, about the rejection of the article, I'm trying to understand guidance on how to successfully get the page approved. I would appreciate your assistance in this matter. I've noticed that there are several filmmaking companies, such as Tenderstories, listed on Wikipedia. Furthermore, this organization is referenced on various pages, including: Bones and All Amanda (2022 film) List of Warner Bros. films (2020–2029) List of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films (2020–2029) Is there any information missing from the page? Have I forgotten something? Could you help me? Thanks in advance! Usr TC17 (talk) 10:28, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TC17 The draft was declined, not rejected. Rejected has a specific meaning here, that a draft may not be resubmitted. Declined means it may be resubmitted. We don't need the whole url when you link to another Wikipedia article, simply place the title of the target in double brackets, as I've done here.
The main concern seems to be that you are a paid editor- do you have an association with this company? Regarding the draft itself, you actually have too many references. Fewer high quality references are preferred to a large number of low quality references. The article does little more than summarize the routine activities of the company, it does not summarize independent reliable sources with significant coverage of this company, showing how it is a notable company as defined by Wikipedia. It is possible for the work of a company to be notable and not the company itself. 331dot (talk) 10:44, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Remove all references to unreliable sources like WP:IMDB. Remove all references which are mere listings, or which just mention the company in passing. Remove all references whose content comes from the company or its associates (eg anything based on an interview or press release). ColinFine (talk) 15:23, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

10:40, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Kitamhal

[edit]

article declined Kitamhal (talk) 10:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yep @Kitamhal, did you have a question? Qcne (talk) 10:41, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so hopeless on this article, I'm trying to understand why this article got declined, I gave all the details and resources for this article. This person is very famous in Thailand, and I don't understand why it got declined so many times. Kitamhal (talk) 10:48, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kitamhal: articles on living people (WP:BLP) have very strict requirements in what comes to referencing, and this draft falls short of those in a number of ways. Firstly, do no cite non-reliable sources such as Twitter and Facebook. When you do cite a source, make sure that it actually supports the statement it is cited against. Ensure that every material statement, anything potentially contentious, and all private personal and family details are clearly supported – for example, which source gives this person's DOB, or their height, or their educational history?
Also, Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a celebrity tabloid. Expressions like "In 2017, Charlotte's journey in the pageantry circuit commenced with "Miss Supranational Phuket," marking her initial foray into the beauty pageant world." and "The romantic miniseries has garnered attention, furthering Charlotte's popularity in the entertainment industry." are completely inappropriate. Please write in formal, factual manner, without embellishments and promotional blurb. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:05, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

11:05, 13 December 2023 review of submission by PHP Poets Udaipur

[edit]

Hello, I am not paid for this article. I know her and she is doing really good work in Udaipur. She is the daughter of Arvind Singh Mewar. she is well not personality in my region, that is why I am making her Wikipedia page. Can you give me a detailed answer why this article is rejected and how can I write so it can be approved. Please suggest me for this. PHP Poets Udaipur (talk) 11:05, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@PHP Poets Udaipur: this draft (not yet article) was declined (not rejected) because there is no indication that the subject is notable, and even less evidence thereof. Please see WP:GNG for details of the general notability guideline, WP:BLP for our policy on articles on living people, and WP:REFB for advice on correct referencing using the preferred method of inline citations and footnotes. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:12, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
can you help me for publish a my artical...with out any problem 150.129.164.136 (talk) 12:35, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
she is well not personality in my region, that is why I am making her Wikipedia page is another way of saying "I am promoting her". Promotion is forbidden in Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 15:26, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is here anyone who can guide us on Company Profile Creation on Wikipedia "Rules & Advice" Opicxo (talk) 11:24, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't have ANY "start-up profile"s we have articles on people who pass the criteria at WP:GNG or companies that pass WP:NCORP. Theroadislong (talk) 11:28, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

11:46, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Nitajk

[edit]

Maj Gen SCN Jatar, was a very eminent personality, and a very dedicated social worker, but I do not have any more internet resources for this article. He was a hero, but yes, the social work he did was more at a local level. However, his appointment in Assam had national political significance. Is there a way to get around this issue of lack of internet resources? Nitajk (talk) 11:46, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nitajk You took his picture before he died and he posed for you. What was your connection with him?
Sources do not need to be online, but if his work was local it's doubtful that he merits a Wikipedia article. As odd as it may sound, you probably have too many sources. 331dot (talk) 11:52, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nitajk: sources don't have to be online, offline sources are also acceptable as long as they otherwise meet the standards of reliability etc., and as long as they are cited in a way that makes it possible for others to reliably locate them for verification purposes. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:52, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

12:53, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Yuvi1024

[edit]

I want to know how you put up my draft so that it follows Wikipedia guidelines and doesn't look promotional. I added all the genuine information but can't understand what exactly I need to do to meet the "non-promotional" guidelines of Wikipedia. Yuvi1024 (talk) 12:53, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Yuvi1024: this draft has been rejected, and will therefore not be considered further.
But for future reference, expressions like "several key positions in various respectable organizations" are just peacockery that has no place in an encyclopaedia.
In any case, most of this is unreferenced, suggesting that it is the subject telling the world about themselves (as opposed to independent and reliable sources being summarised), and that is pretty much the definition of promotion. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:57, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

15:42, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Ferry66

[edit]

Would you mind telling me which of my cited sources are unreliable please so I know which ones to delete?

Thank you, Ferry Ferry66 (talk) 15:42, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Sun and Daily Star newspaper are not reliable sources, IMDb is not a reliable source, YouTube rarely is, and interviews are not independent. Theroadislong (talk) 16:50, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

16:58, 13 December 2023 review of submission by 46.71.216.205

[edit]

Hey there, I have created an article about Aras War and I need someone to review it. Thanks. 46.71.216.205 (talk) 16:58, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Did you read the message "This may take a week or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 405 pending submissions waiting for review"? Be patient. Qcne (talk) 17:00, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

17:05, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Sotellme

[edit]

Hi, I'm unsure why the article looks like an ad. I could avoid describing the process and standard chapters if they don't satisfy the criteria, but may I also change them somehow? I do feel it's an important article that can contribute to the educational (and, after all, scientific) society of the UK. Sotellme (talk) 17:05, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sotellme. The key thing for schools and educational providers is proving they meet the notability criteria set out at WP:NSCHOOL. None of your sources show significant coverage of this organisation in secondary sources.
I'd recommend just creating a new section at the existing article Department_of_Physics,_University_of_Oxford. Qcne (talk) 17:08, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

please check it now. Preksha30 (talk) 18:09, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tone is NOT appropriate for an encyclopaedia, it clearly sets out to praise the subject, Wikipedia articles are written in a dry neutral tone. Theroadislong (talk) 18:15, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

20:10, 13 December 2023 review of submission by Ste.moww

[edit]

I was told that this article is "not sufficiently notable for inclusion." I've noted that many other micronations have their own pages such as Austenasia, Sealand, and dozens more which are on the following accepted page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_micronations). I submitted the draft before and was given advice, then told my article was not sufficient for inclusion, both by the same individual. At the very least I wish I could have been told this sooner, but I'm not sure why my article is being excluded from the long list of other micronations with their own accepted articles. Please get back to me so we may sort this out. Ste.moww (talk) 20:10, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft Draft:Empire of Shahawkia has zero independent reliable sources and zero indication of being notable, so it was correctly rejected. Theroadislong (talk) 20:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ste.moww the Empire of Shahawkia appears to be WP:MADEUP. The only real reference to it existing is the MicroNations Wiki and a Discord Server.
Note that most of the existing micronation articles have actual reputable mainstream media discussions of them. Yours does not. Qcne (talk) 20:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Shahawkia is transferring off of discord for private matters, and yes we do have a microwiki article. We also have a website, and a YouTube channel where media and information is broadcasted. You can view those here: https://empireofshahawkia.wixsite.com/shahawkia, https://www.youtube.com/@shahawkia/videos. I can provide you with more information to prove to you that we are not infact the typical, poorly made micronation a lot of children create. Ste.moww (talk) 20:21, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ste.moww This is irrelevant. Without your micronation being significantly covered in reliable secondary sources (journals, newspapers, books, TV shows, etc) there can be no Wikipedia article. Qcne (talk) 20:23, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the problem is on the references, however, the answer is not clear what is the problem. Can you help me more? specifically Pedro Manuel da Silva Faria (talk) 23:32, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

the draft is incomprehensible. ltbdl (talk) 04:50, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand. First it was a problem of references, now it's "incomprehensible". This doesn't seem very comprehensible answers either. I am asking for help, not quick answers with no substantiate. Pedro Manuel da Silva Faria (talk) 11:34, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Pedro Manuel da Silva Faria. I have just looked at your draft for the first time as an experienced reviewer; I agree it is incomprehensible. I have no idea what you are trying to state in the draft, but it seems to be some sort of essay? This is not permitted on Wikipedia, see WP:NOTESSAY. I think you need to completely start from scratch.
Remember: Wikipedia articles only should be summarising or paraphrasing what existing reliable sources state about a subject. Qcne (talk) 21:50, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
