Just pick any public park with a nice grassy area where you can sit down and picnic. Also, remember to say just where in the park to get together at (eg by a fountain or something), especially when it's a larger park.--Pharos (talk) 00:40, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have postponed the meetup to 6/30 so that we can finalize the venue. I am fine with Piedmont if everyone is okay with it. Parking is my concern with Piedmont. — Ganeshk (talk) 12:45, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we should rush to postpone it unless the weather forces us. I think it would be best for engaging with pedestrians if we can say that it is the official nationwide day for Wiknics. Craig and I are also voting for Piedmont Park, and we can paint a banner for our group on Friday night. We were thinking just a basic stencil with "Atlanta Wikipedia" and the Wikipedia logo would have the most draw to people a hundred meters away in the park, and we can reuse it for future events. As far as food goes, with a small group it is probably easiest for everyone to just bring food for themselves. I guess we still need to narrow down where in the park to meet. Your enthusiasm is really wonderful, but given the difficult situation I think it makes most sense to delay till next week. It's not really a big deal if you do it a week later, I can say as the sort of national coordinator of Wiknics (in NYC we're doing in July 7!).
