French

[edit]

Don't you people think that these userboxes should have both english and french on it? I know there is a french one but I think a bilingual would be more Canadien. Pseudoanonymous 03:23, 20 February 2006 (UTC) GOOD POINT198.169.113.63 (talk) 00:58, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can somebody add the animated flag to "proud Canadian"? To the provincial flag boxes? Trekphiler 07:45, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SK's many meanings

[edit]

I noticed a userbox next to the one of Saskatchewan that was for author Steven King. Evidently, the name of the userbox was SK, the postal abbreviation for thaty province. Should that userbox be deleted? Does anyone know the name of the userbox that should go in its place, to mirror all the other provinces?--Coryma 17:01, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the userbox from the page, because it's about an author, and not about Saskatchewan. Users from Saskatchewan (including myself) will have to live with the other box. -Royalguard11TalkMy Desk 21:39, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Political parties

[edit]

I don't know where the proper place to post this notice would be, I am hoping that anyone who cares is watching this page. I am thinking that with all the political party's userboxes, it may be better to consolidate them all into one, in order to standardize them, a short parameter would be used to select your party. Thoughts? 117Avenue (talk) 00:54, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Because I like challenging myself to write complex templates, I went ahead and made it already, it is at User:UBX/Canadian politics. 117Avenue (talk) 10:06, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to have to disagree. I'm sorry I wasn't watching this page, but consolidating them isn't the best idea. And there's really no consensus that way. Me-123567-Me (talk) 02:30, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Part of the reason I disagree is there are wording differences and artistic differences between your user boxes and some of the ones the original users created. Me-123567-Me (talk) 02:32, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like what? I tried to keep it as close as possible. 117Avenue (talk) 02:44, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  1. I notice the older boxes are smaller. Same with the icons.
  2. Why wasn't the Christian Heritage box included? Or the Pirate Party? Or the Alberta Alliance?
  3. Joe seems to have bolded the names of the parties in his boxes.
  4. The names of the PEI parties in the two versions of the boxes (Joe's and yours) are different.
  5. Joe used blue for the Yukon Party icon, you used yellow.
  6. Why didn't you convert Cavenba's boxes too?
  7. Why can't all the boxes be on this page? Wikipedia is not paper. Me-123567-Me (talk) 03:02, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said above, I think that they should all be the same size, for consistency. Christian Heritage and Pirate were not included because they do not have provincial equivalents, so I didn't see the point, but I did leave a note that I could add more if others wanted more. Alberta Alliance has been dissolved, and the box isn't being used. The PEI party names are incorrect. The Yukon Party colour is yellow, not blue, I didn't include it in the documentation, but you can make it blue by entering YT|PC. I didn't include Cavenba's because I just wanted to standardize the icon ones. I did not remove any that did not have a replacement. 117Avenue (talk) 03:17, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be you're targeting only one set of user boxes for replacement, and that's not fair. While I think yours should stay, so should those of the other contributors. Me-123567-Me (talk) 03:23, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am targeting only one set of user boxes for replacement. Why would I lump something different in? 117Avenue (talk) 03:37, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why can't both exist along side each other? Me-123567-Me (talk) 03:52, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They can, I just think that there isn't much difference. If you want on your user page a bolded party that doesn't exist anymore, I can't stop you. 117Avenue (talk) 07:06, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To show my own good faith, I'm spreading this page around and using {{Wikipedia:Userboxes/Location/Canada}} to replace older lists of Canadian politics user boxes. I like your idea in general. Me-123567-Me (talk) 18:44, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but its causing the false transclusion counts that you are claiming are real uses of the old ones. 117Avenue (talk) 19:36, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How is it causing false counts? Me-123567-Me (talk) 19:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The six userboxes I removed in this edit are not used in a way that a user is saying they support the party, they are just copies of this page. 117Avenue (talk) 19:46, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your boxes do the same thing though. So if yours aren't on user pages, should we remove them too? Me-123567-Me (talk) 20:09, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't started replacing the old ones with the new one yet. I removed the old ones from this list so that users wouldn't add them for the time being. 117Avenue (talk) 22:09, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But there's no reason they can't peacefully co-exist on the same page. If they were the same, I might agree. They're not. Even with removing the old ones from the page, it could take months or longer for the new ones to find adopters. Let the user decide. Me-123567-Me (talk) 04:08, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're still convinced they're not the same? Then there is nothing more I can say. 117Avenue (talk) 06:38, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
