Checked edits

[edit]

I've just checked all three c/es claimed by @Fa.8392: (courtesy ping); Islamic fundamentalism in Iran (diff); Academic degree (diff); and Ancient art (diff). I found these are minor changes that don't really qualify as copy-edits. Removal of uncited text and tagging is fine and within policy, and the articles may not be suitable for proper copy-editing—I'd certainly ask questions if they were at REQ—but I think more could have been done so I've marked these {{not done}}; feel free to correct / remove if I'm off track. Lfstevens has picked up Islamic fundamentalism in Iran. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:31, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thank you for checking, May I still work on the edits of these? Fa.8392 (talk) 00:52, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly; editors are always welcome to improve articles; thanks for your work there. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 05:27, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good call, Baffle; the editor in question has been blocked for spamming. All the best, Miniapolis 14:32, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that account looked a bit odd, then I saw their talk page. Spammer trying to look HERE and failing. Oh well, no barnstars for spammers. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 20:07, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Baffle gab1978 actually a sock. CU blocked. Doug Weller talk 18:41, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unfinished page

[edit]

Hi, I had picked a long page, Early Middle Japanese, to copy edit. Although I did quite a bit of work on this page, I was still only partway down the page (in the Auxiliary Particle section) when the drive ended. (Unfortunately I began travelling in the later part of January, so did not have time to edit.) Is there anything I should do to change the tagging of the page now that the drive is over, or should I just continue working my way down the page? Keep editing! Ultimately, the satisfaction of a good copy edit comes from knowing that you have made Wikipedia a better place, not from tallied up word counts or barnstars. Thanks for your work. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:47, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
46 edits and many improvements. That's a lot of work for not getting formal credit for the drive. I myself sometimes give myself partial credit for work performed within a drive or blitz, calculated by number of edits, even if I begin or finish the copy editing outside the allotted time frame. Per the instructions for the drive, I had put some kind of tag at the top of the page to indicate that I was working on it for the GoCE drive. I don't see anything like that there now, so I assume the automated processes cleaned it up at the end of the drive.
Am still traveling. I plan to return to editing the page after I get back next week. Thank you both for your kind encouragement! Aurodea108 (talk) 08:29, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is a bot that removes such tags after approximately 24 hours of inactivity. You'll see its edit here. Dhtwiki (talk) 21:17, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
