Galaxy Peach

[edit]

Galaxy peach, Gene-modified Saturn peaches - (

)<--I don't see that other peach varieties have individual articles about them (including the Saturn peach upon which the Galaxy is based). I'd already started on a stub, so if anyone wants to proceed, I'm leaving the following info if it is useful.

The "Galaxy peach" is a gene-modified Saturn peach created David W. Ramming, a geneticist at the USDA's Agricultural Research Service in 2004. Due to its flat shape, it is sometimes called a "bagel peach." The freestone fruit ripens in mid to late June.

Garcinia atroviridis

[edit]

Garcinia atroviridisItalic text(Gutiferae), locally named 'asam gelugor' in Malay, or 'asam keping1. It is a medium sized fruit tree endemic to peninsular Malaysia. This species grows wild throughout peninsular Malaysia but is also widely cultivated especially in the northern states owing to its economic and medicinal value. Garcinia is a big-sized perennial plant commonly found in evergreen forests in the southern region of Thailand and Malaysia. <[[Media:gallery> Figure] </gallery>).

The ‘asam gelugor’ tree grows to a height of 30-50 ft. and has long trunk, smooth grey bark and drooping branches. The leaves are dark green, shiny, long narrow with a pointed tip and upturned edges. The flowers are dark red. The round fruits are borne singly on twig ends about 7 - 10 cm in diameter. The ripe fruits are bright orange yellow, which are sliced, dried and used in curries or stewed in plenty of sugar to be eaten.
Uses of Garcinia atroviridis

The fruit contains fruiting acids such as citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid and ascorbic acid that have antioxidant activities.Asam gelugor also contain flavonoids. Flavonoids demonstrate a wide range of biochemical and pharmacological effects including anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-platelet, anti-thrombotic action, and anti-allergic effects2.Sun-dried slices of the fruits, locally known as ‘asam keping’, are commercially available and are popularly used as seasoning in curries, sour relish and also for dressing fish. there was also a tendency effect on serum lipid profile and on atherosclerosis in guinea pig3

Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit (AGM) recipients as of March 2020 that are accepted by PoWO

[edit]

What is the use of this section on the Requested Articles page? Should I remove plants with existing articles? --Vaporwaveboyfriend (talk) 14:23, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was added to my talk page and I moved it here for lack of a better place. The ones with existing articles can be removed. —Hyperik talk 20:50, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the bluelinks and updated the section since I just noticed that the RHS put out a new list of AGM ornamentals in December. This section of WP:PAR is actually getting usage, since these are plants that people actually can buy, unlike nearly all the others. Abductive (reasoning) 20:40, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
