Zapotiltic is a municipality and town in the south region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It is approximately 115 km south of Guadalajara. According to the "Conteo de Poblacion y Vivienda of 2010" the municipality has a population of 29,192.

Toponymy

Zapotiltic come from the náhuatl words, "Tzápotl" (zapote) y "tlíitic" (black); that means: "place of the black zapotes".[1] This name was adopted due to the abundance of this fruit on the area in the past.
