Hello, Geschichte,

I just noticed that you draftified several articles created by User:BabbaQ, one right after another and you didn't inform the article creator of this draftification even though this is a step you should be taking when you move an article from main space to Draft space (please review WP:DRAFTIFY for guidance). This editor has been active for over a decade and has made over 100,000 edits. I think the artices include information on why these athletes are notable, because they won championships. Was there any other reason why you chose to draftify articles made by this longtime contributor? It seems rather inexplicable and targeted. Thank you. <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">Liz</span> Read! Talk! 04:44, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Proposed speedy deletions

You have tagged Draft:Fang Banged and others for speedy deletion as copy vios. I have great sympathy for your view, but the original content, which has been copied wholesale, does not seem to be copyright. There are a host of other reasons why these articles should not be on Wikipedia but it will be interesting to see what the admin says about these. Best of luck!  Velella  Velella Talk   11:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, that worked. I may go and tag a few more in that case!  Velella  Velella Talk   13:36, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Wilson (footballer, born 1977)

Any reason why you did not notify the article creator about this AFD? GiantSnowman 20:23, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The creator already uses the deletion sorting to respond to all football-related nominations, has most likely watchlisted the page, and was the one who asked me to take it to AFD. I could have added at the end: "disputed by @.... Geschichte (talk) 07:45, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Yoshitaka Iwamizu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I am unable to find the amount of reliable and independent source material about this subject which would be needed to demonstrate notability.

FootballDatabase.eu

Hi Geschichte, I saw your change at André Van Maldeghem. FootballDatabase.eu should no longer be used per WP:WPFLINKSNO. I have removed the inline citation. Hopefully, someone can verify the additions with a different source. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 20:24, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Too bad. I'll observe this in the future. Geschichte (talk) 20:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Over the years, there have been quite a few articles where I've heavily relied on FootballDatabase. Keep up the good work! Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 20:15, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good work

Good job and thanks for finding sources for AFDs. Makes it a lot easier to fix up and keep some articles. StreetcarEnjoyer (talk) 21:51, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thank yous. It's nice to get some feedback about that sort of work too. Geschichte (talk) 20:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PROD notice

I see no one bothered to notify you about this, so just as a heads-up: Vincent Mbarga Manga (a stub about "a retired Cameroonian football striker"), which you created, was PRODded and deleted. If you'd like to contest the deletion, feel free to make a request at WP:REFUND. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:29, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article wasn't the greatest... There is some potential in offline news, but nothing tangible in the foreseeable future. Geschichte (talk) 20:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Marius Kryger Lindh

You have changed this page to a draft, and I can not understand why. I wrote the page in cooperation with Marius himself, who gave me all the facts and personal details. I have addeded some sources if that was the problem. RonTho (talk) 12:10, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

After Wikipedia was flooded with tens of thousands of very short sportsperson articles, all articles must now contain and point to "significant coverage" (see links below). If they are new, they can be moved to "draft" and worked on there.
This sports biography does not cite any sources containing significant coverage. Please help improve this article by adding citations to sources containing significant coverage. Sports biographies without significant coverage violate the requirement for such articles and may be deleted. Geschichte (talk) 20:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kristen Onsgard

You moved this to a Draft. I've created Wikipedia pages for hundreds of Bridge players. Kristen has won a North American Bridge Championship (these are open events, includes players from all over the world). Winning one event is considered wiki-notable. The article was sourced.

Her page was created in the same style and format and layout that is typically used for Bridge players. I've hardly ever had problems with any of the 100s of Wikipedia pages I've created so curious why this one was moved to Draft.

I have updated, and added even more references.

Please review. Tx. Nicolas.hammond (talk) 19:33, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying! I'm inclined to view bridge as a sport in this context, and the criteria for sports biographies were sharply tightened in 2022. That may be the reason why the perception of these bridge bios may have changed.
Before, several (i.e. tens of thousands) biographies pointed to databases only. I created quite many of them myself. This is not allowed anymore, and sports biographies most reference at least one, preferably two to three sources that constitute significant and independent coverage of the person.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the current sources would pass the aforementioned criteria. I believe that the broad consensus would be that the current sources are not independent, meaning that they have all been produced by someone affiliated with the person. "Someone affiliated" would entail family members, employers, or the sports teams and leagues the person competes for/in.
If we were to seek broader input about these sources, the venue would typically be a deletion discussion of the article. Draftification is a way to avoid deletion for the time being, so are you perhaps able to find independent coverage of this (and other) person(s)? Geschichte (talk) 08:26, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
