The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the illustration workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be improved or created for a Wikipedia article. Clicking the "New Request" button will bring you to a standard template for submitting requests, as well as general advice that should be followed.

    Advice to requesters

    All requests:

    • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
      • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
    • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
    • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

    SVG requests:

    • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
    • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Vectorize and translate Graham hierarchy diagram

This French is quite basic, you can likely translate without translator… The media will help create awareness for fairer discussion. -- Yug (talk) 12:33, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    Discussion
    — Bonjour @Yug: Are you aware of the diagram File:Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement-fr.svg? It is in Category:Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement. The circular chart takes up more space.
    — Also, Wikipedia/Wikimedia has an ongoing problem rendering fonts accurately in SVG, especially as thumbnails (see File:20200522 SVG font rendering at different thumbnail sizes.gif. So, to convert the circular chart to SVG would require fonts to be changed to "paths" (shapes) which would increase file size. (One purpose of SVG is to have small file size.)
    — Do you still consider it important to pursue a circular chart? —RCraig09 (talk) 17:11, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Coat of arms of Belize
    Request
Could someone please create an SVG file of the coat of arms used by British Honduras/Belize from 1967 to 1981, as seen here. It would be similar enough to the current version of the Belizean arms (above), only with a few differences such as:
    1) There is no surrounding wreath.
    2) There is no green ground beneath the arms.
    3) The scroll containing the motto is white instead of yellow.
    4) The tree at the back looks different.

I'd like a map to clearly show the route of the South Eastern Railway. In the map above it is the route that begins at London Bridge station, then goes south to Reigate, before turning left and heading for the coast at Folkstone. Many thanks. -- SchroCat (talk) 14:22, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    Discussion
@SchroCat: could you be persuaded to use a more modern map of the region, such as this? I'd say it's cleaner, especially with the placenames, which on those old maps are a little—flowery? ——Serial # 10:20, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great - anything that clearly shows the route would be good. - SchroCat (talk) 10:33, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
SchroCat, right, and what about calling points? (Or was the train non-stop—but even then should main locations be along the route, and rest of the map?) ——Serial # 10:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Historical proposed flags of Ireland

    Article(s)
    List of flags of Ireland
    Request

Could someone please create SVG files of the following flags that have been proposed for Ireland over the years, using the above templates:

    1. Proposed flag of Ireland (1928), put forward by an unknown Southern royalist in The Irish Times on 2 June 1928 (ratio 1:2). Though I would recommend using the Tudor Crown for it, as that was the norm for flags featuring the British crown at the time.
    2. Proposed flag of Ireland (1937), put forward by an unknown designer on 6 June 1937 (ratio 1:2).
    3. Proposed flag of Ireland (1939), designed by an unknown Irishman in 1939, later appearing in The Irish Times on 19 June 1945 (ratio 1:2). And it's also important to note that the strings on this harp have gold strings instead of white ones.
    4. Proposed flag of Ireland (1957), put forward by John Harrington on 10 June 1957 (ratio 4:6)

@Mrmw: Well, as for this file's title, I think "Ensign of the National Yacht Club (Ireland) pre-1945" would probably be best. Thanks for asking. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 10:10, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
