Casework is a term used to describe commercial grade cabinets. These cabinets differ from residential kitchen cabinets by their materials. Casework is made of plastic laminate (Formica, Wilsonart)or melamine. Institutional casework is specified in the health care and educational industries. Casework is not limited to cabinets, it includes custom millwork. Examples of millwork are nurses stations, reception desks, etc. Casework also includes custom fixtures, and retail fixtures, like the store fixtures you see in a Verizon Wireless store, be it the live phone islands, the cash wraps where the cash registers are, or just the wall displays and television displays throughout the store.
There are multiple divisions of casework. Most common is likely division 6 and division 12 casework. This consists of schools, hospitals, laboratories, etc. The cabinets and counter tops made with laminate casework are sturdy, long-lasting, and permanent.
