Corruption in Myanmar is pervasive throughout the business and political sectors.[1][2]

According to Transparency International's 2014 Corruption Perceptions Index, Myanmar (Burma) ranked 156th of 175 nations, on par with Cambodia and Zimbabwe.[3][4]

In the Myanmar Business Survey 2014, corruption was the most frequently identified obstacle to business, especially with respect to obtaining firm registration, business licenses and permits from government authorities.[5]
