DZCA (1170 kHz Metro Manila) was an AM station owned and operated by the Office of Civil Defense in the Philippines. Its studios were located at Agham Rd., Quezon City.
History
In 1956, DZQL 1160 was launch it's airwaves by ABS-CBN. In 1960, DZQL frequency was now on 830 kHz. In 1972, DZQL shutdown due to Martial Law by Ferdinand Marcos. In 1973 it revived by Office of Civil Defense, it once served as the official radio station of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or (PAGASA), given the latest weather information in the country at the top of the hour (after the station ID).
The station is defunct since 1993, due to lack of funding. Despite being inactive, the frequency receives live broadcast of Voice of America via DWVA in La Union.[1]
