"Fireman" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Lil Wayne, released on October 25, 2005, as the first single from hia fifth studio album Tha Carter II. The single was produced by American production duo Doe Boyz, composed of Develop and Filthy. The song was originally recorded with slightly different lyrics. This included a completely modified second and third verse. Many [who?] believe this was an attempt by the record label to make a more "radio-friendly" version of the song.
Chart performance
"Fireman" managed to peak at number thirty-two on the Billboard Hot 100 on January 21, 2006. It became his most successful single at the time in his career behind "Go D.J." which peaked at number fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also fared well on R&B and rap charts, which peaked at number fifteen and number ten, respectively. The single also became his first chart entry on the Billboard Pop 100 Chart, peaking at number forty-three, while becoming his first chart entry on the Hot Digital Songs chart as well, peaking at number thirty-eight. The single went on to reach gold status.[1] This single also sparked heat from fellow hardcore rapper Drag-On as Wayne may have stolen his gimmick as the "Fireman", later causing Drag to make a diss track called The "Original Fireman". There has been no retaliation from Wayne to date.[citation needed]

The music video was filmed shortly after Hurricane Katrina, on Oglethorpe University campus, in Atlanta, Georgia.
