Queen Elizabeth Annex is a public elementary school in Vancouver, British Columbia part of School District 39 Vancouver.

History

On Thursday January 10, 2008, the Vancouver School Board released a plan to rebuild schools in the Dunbar area which would involve closing Queen Elizabeth Annex.[2] The intent was to sell the land and use the money to expand educational options in the surrounding area. Many people were surprised by the potential closure and presented significant data supporting the ongoing operation of the Annex and the VSB did not proceed with the proposal to close the school.

Programs

After the January 2008 VSB Facilities Review, it was decided that there would no longer be any new English students accepted to QEA. Jules Quesnel primary grades (1-2) were housed in portables on the property while their school was seismical upgraded. This was successfully completed. After grade 3, students generally go on to attend Jules Quesnel Elementary School.
