The pole time is invalid

[edit]

How can you say pole time 1:14.381 when there is a LEGAL 1:14.301 time? (Okay.. I'm just feeling sad for MSC...) 218.22.21.3 (talk) 13:37, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If Schumi didn't crash into Senna in Spain,he was on pole.I feel sad for him too.But Webber did a good qualifying too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.25.222.87 (talk) 14:14, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For me, Schumacher should be credited with a pole position. He set the fastest time and was presented as the 1st place man at the end of the session. Webber did not qualify on pole, he just inherited it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by P8rsn (talkcontribs) 16:36, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

sorry guys - wiki doesn't make the rules. F1 stats will credit Webber with the pole, so wiki must too. 188.221.79.22 (talk) 20:57, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Formula1.com does not count. Its the officiating body FIA that releases the positions and that is what counts

Qualifying Session Preliminary Classification

Yep, that's the preliminary classification you have there, before the penalties are applied, i.e. the basic results of the qualifying session. It turns out Webber's on pole, Maldonado's not 9th etc etc. Where does it say that's the grid? Bretonbanquet (talk) 02:09, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2012/869/7083/ states at the very bottom, all the reasons for the grid positions and penalties straight from the FIA. Why is this source not ok, but a link to a fan site (http://richlandf1.com/?p=1671) is considered more reliable? 82.3.48.129 (talk) 07:03, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Schumacher timelap is valid and the official qualifying classification is clear. The penalty relates to the starting grid and relates to the race not the qualifying session. --95.249.40.146 (talk) 11:50, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just to make this clear that Webber's time should be in pole position, the same situation would be applied if the car had technical irregularities, 2 examples: 2005 Italian Grand Prix Kimi got pole, 10 grid penalty, Montoya inherited pole. 2012 Spanish Grand Prix Hamilton got pole, excluded from qualifying for technical irregularity, Maldonado inherited pole.Lewishamiltonheikki (talk) 13:39, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

new standings

[edit]

So Vettel dropped one position down, yet Alonso's position remained unchanged at #1? Sorry, but Alonso is up one spot. As you can see from 2012 Spanish Grand Prix#Championship standings after the race, Alonso was second after the previous GP, so logically he moved now +1. Or what? 82.141.64.160 (talk) 21:09, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 02:43, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pérez / Maldonado grid positions

[edit]

Which way around did Pérez and Maldonado line up on the grid? The qualifying and results tables in the article list Pérez as 23rd and Maldonado as 24th, which matches formula1.com and FORIX (subscription site). However ChicaneF1 shows Maldonado as 23rd and Pérez as 24th, which is supported by this Autosport article from the morning of the race. DH85868993 (talk) 02:57, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maldonado started 24th, Perez 23rd, there is a YouTube video of Maldonados onboard start showing Perez 23rd on the grid at the start of the race. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.186.246 (talk) 13:20, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete article

I think this message should be taken off because this article has a lot of detail in and to me is complete.Lewishamiltonheikki (talk) 16:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All work except the second and seventh ones, which I have reverted and tagged with {{cbignore}}. DH85868993 (talk) 06:25, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
