Disambiguation and accuracy[edit]

There were a number of privateers from New York called the General Armstrong. Niles' register lists 4 different masters. I think this article should be about the one commanded by Chester C Reid. I started one here User:Jgb2/General_Armstrong(1812_privateer) but stalled when I ran into the ambiguity issue.

The master of the General Armstrong that attacked the Fanny was Guy R Champlin

Is there a standard way to disambiguate references to ships? all the contemporary sources use a format: Ship,Master as there were many duplications of names.

I note that the content from User:Jgb2/General_Armstrong(1812_privateer) has been pasted into the article despite the problems mentioned by Jgb2 here. I have managed to establish that Champlin and Reid were both captains of this vessel, and that the crew were released from Dunkirk. Thus eliminating most of the ambiguity. Jgb2 (talk) 11:47, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
