Statistical contradiction

The following section contradicts itself:

The Finance Ministry of Israel demonstrated data which indicates an unreasonable rise in the number of exempt young men. According to that data the number of the students grew in the extent of 237% between the years 1985–1998, while the number of young men growth at the same period was 354%. On the basis of this disproportional increase, which created an economical and a security burden on the other sectors of the Israeli population, the Tal committee was founded.

According to this, thie rise was LESS than the rise in population. So how is this unresonable? Either the numbers are mixed up or this is VERY POV. And there are no sources.Mzk1 (talk) 17:59, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Since the religious student population grew by 237% but the number of exempt young men grew by 354% this means many of the exempt young men were lying about being students and falsely claiming an exemption. Current event

This is now a current event. Big political flap in Israel over this. Over 600 hits in Google news for "Tal Law" today. Many reliable sources. In the last few days, articles have appeared in Haaretz [1], the Jerusalem Post[2], The Guardian [3], The New York Times[4], and Xinhua [5]. WP:CET "warn readers about the fast-changing " --> "warn the editor or reader about the great flux of edits and the fast-changing state of the article" (emphasis added). Not questioning its "current" status, but per WP guidelines for the tag it doesnt fitLihaas (talk) 11:09, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

It seems we need more editors on this, then. Also, with the Tal Committee dissolved, but the Tal Law controversy still active, maybe we should do some moves and make this article the redirect. --John Nagle (talk) 19:10, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I think either Tal Law should be the main article or this should be moved to Plesnar Committee (a history section can mention the previous committee heads)Lihaas (talk) 09:53, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Keshev Committee

Hey guys,

I think we need to add a new section on Keshev Committee, which hasn't been reported here. There's a lot of news on it. I'd add it myself but don't have the time right now (if I get a chance I'll do it though). I also recommend creating a new article on this whole business, such as "Replacements to the Tal Law" although I'm sure we can get a better title, and merging the information here to there. --Activism1234 15:03, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

That committee was scrapped already.[6]. It would take a day-by-day timeline to summarize the last month of shifting positions and alliances. No sign of a decision yet. The August 1 deadline still applies, so after August 1, we should probably update the article to reflect the situation at that point. --John Nagle (talk) 20:43, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Equal Burden of Service law

A couple months ago, the Knesset passed the Equal Burden of Service law, by the Shaked Committee (headed by Ayelet Shaked). I could not find an article on it. Should it be added to this article, or as its own? (Except that i'm not very knowledgeable on this.) Is there a general article on Chareidim and the IDF? Scimonster (talk) 12:47, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Current Status?
