Canon EOS-1D C[edit]

  • Comment: Expanded to fivefold. Requesting an uninvolved user to review

Created/expanded by Riley Huntley (talk). Self nom at 10:15, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Article is new enough and long enough expansion wise at time of nomination. Hook is properly formatted. Mild concerns that hook COULD read like an advertisement. Having read the article, I'm not sure how you can get a hook for a product like this which will not read that way. No images to check. No plagiarism concerns after check. Article is fully supported by sources. Given topic, I think it is neutral enough as not sure you can write it any other way. It doesn't read as an advert. (I feel like I just reviewed this as really similar to other articles.) Good to go, though I would make sure it isn't run near the other hook on this topic. --LauraHale (talk) 10:32, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
I think this hook reads just like an advert, regardless of the article. Secretlondon (talk) 16:58, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Just added a second possible hook. Any better? -- Cheers, Riley Huntley 17:07, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
I don't think it's any better. It would be an advert on the front page, which we don't want. Secretlondon (talk) 17:19, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
The third is just saying it's an SLR really, as they all have that. I'm uncomfortable as it's promotion for a camera which isn't even out yet and we're just part of the hype. Secretlondon (talk) 17:48, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Actually, this is the first Canon camera to be able to use 60 different lenses because it is also in the Cinema EOS range. I don't feel the third hook is very promotion compared to the first and second hook. -- Cheers, Riley Huntley 18:01, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
ALT4... that the Canon EOS-1D C was reviewed before the camera went into production?" - Would work too. Hook would not be highlighting a feature of it, thus does not sound like an advert and also implies the camera is not in production and cannot be bought yet. -- Cheers, Riley Huntley 05:29, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT5... that the Canon EOS-1D C is the world's first 18.1 megapixel DSLR camera capable of shooting 4K resolution video, and costs US$15,000 (body only)? 138 characters. --Lexein (talk) 06:22, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
  • As I noted in WT:DYK, I think including the price feels too much like advertising to me. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:35, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • It's difficult to understand what the camera is from this discussion and a little from the article. It's a down-graded DSLR version of Canon's EOS C500, essentially, and that makes it interesting, hook-wise, to me, a ultra high-resolution digital SLR that is also capable of shooting 4k resolution video. It would help if the 4k resolution article were better, but I think the first offered hook, that it's the first DSLR capable of also shooting 4k resolution video, with a discussion of the comparison between it and the C500 (the 1D's video downgrade, but still with highest image capture), not just it and the 1DX, would make the first hook accurate, somewhat interest-worthy, and, while still promotional, introduce the reader to a very new trend in cameras, trying to combine DSLRs with much better video capabilities. -Fjozk (talk) 20:07, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Reviewer needed; promotional aspects of various hooks needs to be addressed in review (i.e., specify which ones are acceptable and which aren't). BlueMoonset (talk) 04:35, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • How about this non-promotional hook:- Cwmhiraeth (talk) 14:28, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT6 is the only one that really makes sense as a non-promotional hook. It also has the added value of being punchy and hooky; any camera aficionado (or even those who are not) will be curious to know more. It has an inline citation (now). Yazan (talk) 16:13, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
