January 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Banana, Coconut, and Twinkie does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Contractions[edit]

Just a note to say that the Manual of Style, at MOS:CONTRACTIONS, directs us to avoid contractions, such as in this edit you made to Florida. Thank you for correcting the verb agreement of do/does; it was just the contraction that was a problem. - Donald Albury 17:35, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question about your photos of smoke in Minneapolis[edit]

File:Wildfire smoke in Minneapolis, Minnesota.png

Hi! Thanks for adding your photo to 2023 Canadian wildfires. When you upload to Wikimedia Commons, it's helpful to add metadata (extra information about the photo). For these photos, it's important to know when (time/date?) and where (Minneapolis) the photos were taken. This helps contextualize the photos. Let me know if you need help. Thanks! Wracking talk! 01:13, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, following up on this! What day was this photo taken? Thanks! Wracking talk! 02:53, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, adding this photo was a mistake and I wish to delete it. It was taken on June 15th Unknown... (talk) 03:05, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can request for the file to be deleted from Wikimedia Commons if you'd like. Because it was uploaded more than 7 days ago, you would have to request for it to be deleted at Commons:Deletion requests. If your concerns are privacy-related, contacting WP:OVERSIGHT (see email on page) may be the best place to start. Wracking talk! 03:41, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. How are requests made there? Unknown... (talk) 03:53, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As in the example photo on Commons:Deletion requests, there is a "Nominate for deletion" button on each file's page. Use that to request deletion, and make sure to describe your reasoning. Wracking talk! 04:04, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thank you so much, I will do this Unknown... (talk) 04:58, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
