For the first claim, "international reputation", I have supplied a reference to the NY Times that contains this line: "since 1980, when Arnold Ostman became artistic director, the original-instruments orchestra has attracted increasing international attention." I hope that substantiates my claim.
For the second claim, "operas with period instruments caused a considerable stir in the early days of the historical-performance movement" -- I'm a little puzzled by your comment. The source that I attribute this to contains the following: "...taken from live performances at the Drottningholm Theatre and led by Arnold Östman, whose recorded Mozart operas with period instruments caused such a stir in the early days of the historical-performance movement." The italicized passage seems to support my claim.
I'd like to re-submit with the new source added regarding the first claim.
Would that be wise? Or were there further problems with the draft article/
On the first point, the NYT article is referencing the orchestra, not Ostman. It gives, in my opinion, unwarranted credit to Ostman. On the second point, I concede I missed that line; but, I'm not sure a such a claim can be backed up by one mention in a review. How would it be if I added another reference to a critical essay written by well-known musicologist Stanley Sadie that starts: "Anyone interested in the authentic performance of early music will know that for some time the Swedish conductor Arnold Ostman has been essaying performances of this kind at the court opera house, Drottningholm, just outside Stockholm. For example, the awards listed in my article are very rarely hosted anywhere on the internet, but we have them in physical form in our office. The organisations who give these awards do not tend to host them online anywhere, especially if they are more than a year or two old. What can I do here to avoid being declined again?

The golden rule was followed. A long list of verifiable sources were listed. I do not understand why it was declined. I understand at first about the inline references. I did not know that had to be linked inside the article. Once I did that it should have passed. I see plenty of pages on Wikipedia that I question their noteworthyness. Reviews, press releases, brief mentions, etc. do not help establish notability in an article. Well, I am really new to this and would like to contribute; but wow, it just seems set up to be mind boggling! what I am refering to is all the special syntax and what not. In the past I tryed to start an article on another Canadian Singer/Songwriter and have it declined as being nonsense ( whatever that meant) only to see a rather large page accepted a year later by someone ele's .....well all this tells me that it obviously was a good subject to have included, and that I somehow got the shaft.

So far as can tell, you are the reviewer that "declined" our article submission Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (not the redirect page to Wasatch-Cache National Forest). However your stated reasoning as to why seems confusing at best. The reply stated, "You can find it and improve it at Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest instead." However, the article referenced for improvement IS the article "declined". The link, however, connects to a redirect page that then connects to Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
The only logical reason for declining the NEW Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest article (which includes additional and CURRENT information regarding this newly formed administrative division of the US Forest Service) is that the OLD Wasatch-Cache National Forest article should be modified reflecting the current changes. However, if that line of reasoning is followed then the Wasatch-Cache National Forest article should never have been approved, instead the Wasatch National Forest article should have been modified (since the new administrative organization included older one). Oh wait, actually the Wasatch National Forest article should never have been approved either, since the Uinta National Forest article should have been modified (because the new administrative organization was created from the older one). Actually, that one should have never been approved either since there should have been an article on the Uintah Forest Reserve. . .
Do you see where this line of thinking leads? We believe that Wikipedia should include separate articles that address both OLD and NEW organizations (with the "old" articles describing things as they were and the "new" articles describing things as they currently are) or they should all be combined. However, it seems your decision to decline our submission appears to arbitrarily want it both ways.
If the “new” organization was just a renaming of the old, it would make sense to modify the article about the “old” organization. In this case, the “new” organizational structure is both a merger and a modification of older ones, it does not make sense to modify the old articles. Since we are knowledgeable regarding the subject matter (and can and do provide references of such) we would like to continue including additional and current information regarding the same. However, if Wikipedia’s position is what you make it appear to be, then we will not waste our time attempting to include more details and references regarding this or other articles for which we are “subject matter experts”.

When entity A is modified to become entity B, we'll often have them covered in the same article; that's why Alaska's Skagway-Hoonah-Angoon Census Area redirects to the Hoonah–Angoon Census Area article when H-A is simply what S-H-A became when Skagway was separated. Your proposal would involve repurposing lots of articles; while you're free to make such a proposal, it would have big enough ramifications that it should be discussed at a more prominent place than Avs5221's talk page. If you want to make this proposal publicly, you probably should go to WP:VP/Pr and create a new section; just click the "add new topics" link near the top of the page and copy/paste there the comments you just made here. What do I need to do to increase notability? This organization is routinely covered and discussed in published material by Reuters, the New York Times, the Wall St. Journal, the Washington Post, the Deal, Washington Technology, etc.

[4) indicated more evidence to support the tenth criteria which in this case was "inclusion on a notable compilation album". The eligibility of the source that indicated he has had "multiple hits" can be presented here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Javan "Radio Javan is a leading pioneer in introducing new Persian musicians, and singers, as well as promoting the more well known ones.[1]" this indicated that this source is "non-trivial coverage" which would make him notable on the basis of his prominence in the international Iranian community, indirectly supporting the second note of criteria (Iranian music does not have charts, thus reliable sources to indicate the celebrity of the artist in the community is the closest that one could get) and directly supporting the seventh note of criteria (prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city) with the city in this case being Tehran (Or arguable any City with a prominent amount of iranians).

Thanks for reviewing my submission on novel The One-Shot War.
I've added another reference and cleaned up the referencing so I hope it looks better now. One problem I have is that, due to all of the novel being published in 1981, it's difficult for me to find digital copies of the reviews. Google News has some scanned papers, but not a lot, and the Boston Globe archive has to be paid for to get full access. I've added every decent free reference online now. If the novel was published now it would be far easier. I suppose this is something that must come up all the time in terms of creating articles about older subjects.

A while ago (early July, to be exact), I submitted an article for review (Rocco Leo Gaglioti). It said that it had insufficient citation information. May I ask what specific spots I can improve upon, if it's not too much trouble? I know the article is essentially a stub and (as I now know) is missing a few citations, but he's not a particularly well-documented celebrity. I found most of the information through word-of-mouth from him and a few select biographies he gave me to work with. Can I ask him to write a short article on himself with some of the information required or anything like that? Thank you Avs5221 for your review and your qualified "seems notable." You noted the following defects: "Seems notable, but please review your sources per WP:RS. Specifically, brief mentions or lists of credits do not help establish a person's notability." Three of the references are from published magazine sites independent of subject, which seem to fully meet the WP:RS guidelines. I am hoping you might be able to provide something a bit more specific regarding what WOULD constitute adequate proof of "notability." Any help you might be able to provide regarding what references would sway you or future editors to accepting the article would be appreciated. If this is a matter of not having noticed the magazine sites, I understand how busy you must be. Do please let me know what it is that you do want me to provide. Thank you.

Hi, thank you for taking time to review my article submission. I read the guidelines on notable people, and wanted to ask your advice how to improve the article to make it acceptable.
The previous editor said I was making progress by pointing out Sara Eisen is a TV co-anchor of a Bloomberg financial news network program. I added similar names to her article from rival network at CNBC that have Wikipedia pages to show she is notable too.

As a new user to Wikipedia I am still finding my way around on a number of different system workings.
While submitting I did not see a selection for "Express-written consent" to use this image.
I am the website designer for Magic Mike's "Magic Time Productions" website and I posted this image with his blessing.
He is the sole owner of all of his own images, but I do have an email directly from him giving me permission to post information about him and his Bay Area persona, stage shows on Wikipedia.
As a former resident of the Bay Area (CA), I've known of Magic Mike since childhood. I watched him on TV, have purchased his books for my children, and have been to many of his performances thoughout California.
Is there a way for me to forward that written consent in Wikipedia that would allow this image to be posted?

Hi...your message was receiving most distrurbing. "Written like an advertisement", when in no way am I advertising here. I've worked on this for 2 months-have three 4" thick files of various reference pages from Wiki as well as over 20 existing Wiki pages as resources to follow. I've spent great deal of length of time studying, analyzing all the various sections of Wiki for this deveopment, particularly the details & Rules. IF there is something that Appears to be like an 'advertisement, helpful would be to point me to that specific. Afterall, this is not exactly a 'user friendly' site-aannd I am most experieced with complicaiton challenges, but this is a whole other ballgame. I'm having most difficutly with the "reference section" of this creation. I've spent 3 wks on this alone. I chose to move to 'review' area in hope of moving forward, while I continue to try & approve this areas, and possibly getting assistance. But-recently--I've spent 2 days of analysis on how to use the "talk" area-once someone wrote to me--to figure out how to do a simple action like a reply to someone, is on the 4th week. So so this is my first attempt in doing so. Hope this works-and hope you are receptive to my sharings & expressions along with appreciation of my efforts in this. The 'reference' area is not easy, most confusing, & no matter what I do I can't see to get it perfect. I Do have to edit each line format-as it needs adjusting. I hope to do this within the next 2 days. However- still requires development on how to make it proper reference section and then tying each line to the content. Bottom line: Are you referring to the reference area? Can you point me to the specific content that appears to you to be 'advertising. I thought it was something to do with the editing process ... and that it would come up after it was proved. I have all the references ready to go. I am contacting you regarding the sbmitted article on Markus A. Frey which was declined again on September 30 by you. As I included many verifiable secondary sources especially with regards to the recent launch of the Mona Lisa Foundation and picture, I do not understand why it was declined.
Could you kindly please give me an example of what exactly is wrong / missing in this article in order for it to be accepted by you / other Wiki reviwers.
Back quite a few months ago you reviewed a page of mine Si Panya School (in koh Phangan) and told me fairly enough that it needed more references - these have since been added.
The page was also declined recently by someone else for being a 'primary school' and that primary schools don't generally have pages as they are non-notable. This seems to be a moot point as having looked there are countless pages for primary schools.
Si Panya is also not only the first private school on the island of Koh Phangan, but the first English language school as well as the first international school on the island. These facts have made the school notable and have caused much outside discussion, as can be seen in some of the page referencing.
The development of the school has opened the possibility of living full-time on the island for many families with children, before the school was available many families chose to move away when their children were of school age.
As you can appreciate this has made a huge impact to the island and has prompted discussion from all sectors of island life, as to how the island can grow in a sustainable manner. This year has seen massive changes take place not only the first international school, but the first airport will open next month, the prime minister of Thailand came yesterday and has given the funding needed to also build a dam that will provide a reliable water source for the island, these projects all have positives and negatives, and are very much notable and widely discussed on our small island as each has a wide reaching impact on the whole community and the future of island life

I believe that there are at least two references that are nontrivial. For example: In the newly independly published book "Hüter der Ehre" there is a whole chapter dedicated to Markus A. Frey (Reference 10). Also, the portrait about Markus A. Frey on the website of the Thailand Embassy (reference 9) could surely be considered nontrivial, siginificant, reliable and independent, do you agree?
Additionally, there are two indepths interviews with him both in the magazine from Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce (reference 4) as well as the Thailand Travel magazine (reference 5).
Lastly, Markus A. Frey gave a wealth of interviews as the president of the Mona Lisa Foundations which were featured in the international media in early September featuring photos and video interviews with him. (ie reference 15)
I would be very grateful, if you could reconsider publishing the article. I will try and get additional indepth articles about him in the meantime.

I was wondering if I could get clarification on the declining of the UFC AfC beyond a referral to WP:NOT, which appears somewhat ambiguous when there are over 150 related articles in the same subset as UFC 155 with an established linking template, and approximately 18 different guidelines at WP:NOT. If further action than an AfC needs to be taken in order to overturn an AfD ruling, I would certainly understand that, but that was not the given reason. If I could receive clarification on which of the approximately 18 guidelines under WP:NOT that the article fails, I would be grateful as that would be of much constructive help. I spent around 15 hours on the article over the course of several weeks and sought neutral review through Wikipedia's (English-language) public help chatroom to help improve the article, so I hope you understand why it is important to me to know where I erred. D'oh. Missed the comment beneath the templates. While waiting for a UFC event to happen before making an article happen is not in accordance with past informal protocol, as the UFC has an approximately 99.5% batting average when it comes to not canceling events (one canceled event out of over 200 held), I understand that this a political hot potato right now, and that the card itself is subject to change as I have been diligently recording, and thus might be best to wait until an RfC is established on MMA guidelines that are currently in negotiations at WP:MMA (the new guidelines are being negotiated prior to launching an official RfC) to create articles prior to MMA sports events. The RfC may or may not establish inherent notability for all numbered UFC events, but I guess that is unclear at the moment. Beansy (talk) 23:58, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
