Hi, I was trying to help out, and I see I put in some unreliable sources. But the sources you're using also seem unreliable. For example, nowhere have I found that Yochanan was Miriam's husband, and the dates don't work for the Maharshal being her grandson — she was born at the beginning of the 15th century and he at the beginning of the 16th. People got married by age 20 back then and had their kids pretty quickly because they usually died in their 40s or 50s. I also question the reasoning for why she taught behind a curtain; I would have suspected it was modesty, not beauty. Yoninah (talk) 21:16, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

  1. see page 104 for Yochanan
  2. Actual grandmother only works according to the one source that puts her mid 15th century. The way I can jive the info with sources that place her earlier, would be to say that "grandmother" was not literal and it meant an ancestral grandmother.
  3. I saw a source that said only that her face was veiled. That would be more consistent with your reasoning. Perhaps a veil did not do enough to remove the distraction :) Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 04:18, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Asel Asleh vs Meir Hai

Can you explain why the deaths of Meir Hai and Asel Asleh should be considered different? You want to keep Meir Hai's article on the basis of longstanding coverage but delete Asleh's despite being mentioned regularly for more than 10 years and in the UK house of commons and by former world leaders. What gives?--TM 17:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

First of all, I never said Asleh should be deleted. Secondly, they are both close calls, but it takes a lot of chutzpah to create articles on subjects barely notable per WP:ONEEVENT, but at the same time start one afd after the next on semi-notable subjects on the other side of the POV isle. I apologize if I am being too harsh, but it's because of blatant civil pov pushers like yourself that we need some sort of policy in to stand in the place of Wikipedia:Civil POV pushing.--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 17:20, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
To begin, yes, you did support deletion of Asel Asleh. Cptnono changed his !vote from keep to delete and you agreed. So if that was not your intent, I suggest you go back and change it. Secondly, I am far from a POV pusher. The amount of POV-pushing done by AMuseo, Jalapenos and a few others just became too much to handle and I decided to work towards create a more neutral POV. As for the difference between Asleh and Meir Hai, we can begin with the longstanding nature of Asleh's death. Did a popular movement push Israel or the PA to a controversial commission? Did Israeli protest Meir Hai' murder a year later? Do you expect they will in ten years, as Palestinians were doing with Asleh's death last week? Asleh is a worldwide symbol, sort of like Rachel Corrie or Mohammed Al-Durrah; Meir Hai and the other recently created articles are more like POV trojan horses which rely primarily on Israeli news sources and have little long lasting notability. As for my other nominations? The synagogue in Stoughton had exactly three lines and no claims to notability other than existing when I nominated it. Palestinian drive-by shootings? Come on. That is heading for an easy deletion because it is an obvious attempt to demonize Palestinians. Either way, all of the POV-pushing by a core group of editors has really begun to ruin the work I've done on here. It is a shame that other editors wouldn't go out and create and improve articles on anything unrelated to Israel, Jews and Palestine.--TM 17:49, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
I did not support deletion and don't know what you're talking about regarding Cptono. I suggest you carefully check your facts, especially after you are corrected. When basic fact-checking is resolved I will be glad to commence discussing the underlying subject with you. Best,--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 19:06, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
You are right, I apologize. You commented negatively towards me but didn't !vote one way or the other.--TM 19:12, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Excuse me a second here. TM, since you're convinced that I've done a great amount of POV-pushing, I'm not going to bother to act collegially towards you in the future; in my experience, this would be pointless. Also, since your conviction is stupid, I'm going to assume you're the kind of guy who can quickly develop a stupid conviction and immediately communicate it to others. If you happen to care, and if you ever decide to consider the possibility that I act in good faith, let me know and I'll reverse my first decision. All the best, Jalapenos do exist (talk) 23:51, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Jägala concentration camp

Since you asked for comments regarding Jägala concentration camp, I left some there. There are more problems than synthesis, there are also verifiability issues and the like. Jägala is not exactly Treblinka or Sobibor, or even Drancy or Jasenovac, in terms of what we can verifiably say about it. A neutral, verifiable article without synthesis would probably be much shorter than the one that is there now, and with fewer works cited. Angus McLellan (Talk) 00:23, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Zundel

Do we really need these links in articles? [1] Dougweller (talk) 15:09, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

i suppose not. the good thing is that most of the pages listed are talk pages, which should be of less concern. what are you thinking?--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:18, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Getting rid of any links to articles unless there are any that fall into say the category of an article on the Zundelsite itself. Eg at War in the Vendée there's a link which probably doesn't actually block the claim of controversy and might be replaced with [2]Dougweller (talk) 15:45, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Agree and I have corrected the one article you point to:[3] However, it should probably taken further and where its not intrinsically relevant it should be removed. Perhaps I'll run through the links later when time permits. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:58, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks. Dougweller (talk) 18:01, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

リッダ闘争

I must insist; I have posted source for all this information, not to mention the fact that most of the Western Media sources have been pointed out as propaganda and outright lies by many. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.91.50.201 (talk) 16:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

what source are using and where is it "posted"?--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:31, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I have posted source http://www.cafeopal.com/diary/01/feb/diary010212.html which in turn cites 赤軍 by文藝別冊, which on second inspection seems to have been removed by the waves of West propaganda edits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.91.50.201 (talk) 17:06, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Your link comes up as a 404. Please repost correctly. But i am seeing "diary" in the url, which may run afoul with WP:RS, the Wikipedia policy that determines what types of sources can be used. Sorry to bombard with you will all this policy, but you should also be aware of WP:3RR, Wikipedia's policy about edit-warring. If you revert to your preferred version again you may be blocked. RE: Irv Rubin

I'd appreciate if you kept your veiled accusations of Anti-Semitism to yourself. I don't think populating the "Jewish Terrorism" category falls under "anything deragatory about Jews" so much as "anything derogatory to religious extremists". You are more than welcome to think of me what you will but please base your comments on something more substantial. If there's a good argument against it I'm ready to accept I've made a mistake. Sol (talk) 17:17, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I'd appreciate if you kept your veiled accusations of veiled accusations to yourself. Why you are getting this inferiority complex is quite curious especially in light of this conversation. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 20:40, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I found your comment more insulting than most nonconstructive posts, hence what you oddly term an "inferiority complex". I'm not sure what your link has to do with this. Sol (talk) 02:05, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Got your message on what to do with the talk page if the article is closed as keep. How does that work? On the article, it's a matter of removing the AfD tag and referencing the discussion, but there's nothing to remove on the talk page. Question 2, why do they do that? On a deletion, it makes sense, since a talk page for a deleted article is speedily deleted; but the talk page isn't nominated. Thanks for any answers you can provide for the questions, as you know, I'm new here, so any advice is appreciated. Mandsford 21:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Administrator instructions is where you can find the talk page template. I think Twinkle has somewhat of an automated way of doing it, but I'm not sure. You'll have to ask an admin with Twinkle. I guess the reason for placing the notice on the talk page is in case someone in the future is interested in nominating it for deletion. Without the notice, it is hard to know if the article previously was nominated for deletion. Any further questions, ask away. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:59, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Revert

Did you mean to delete both edits?[4] No worries if you did. Just wasn;t sure from your edit summary.Cptnono (talk) 22:06, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

No. Sorry about that.--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 22:20, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

To begin with, you reinstated material removed by the user, something I know you know you should not do. If you feel one sentence violates BLP you could remove that 1 sentence, but since none of it does you may have a hard time finding the one sentence to remove. But if you revert once more off to ANI we go. nableezy - 13:47, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Saying Jimbo Wales encourages manipulation of Wikipedia for money is not a BLP violation? Implying he hates Arabs is not a BLP violation? No More Mr Nice Guy (talk) 13:55, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

antisemitism and Israel

Hi Brewercrewer, I'm new around here. I noticed that you adjusted some of the adjustments that I made to the antisemitism article. I think it's really important for there to be an area in the article that clarifies and presents the issues around Israel and antisemitism. Discussion about the article is best if taken up on the article talk page, Talk:Antisemitism. Best,--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 00:28, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

2010 cargo plane bomb plot

Hey Brewcrewer,

I noticed that you created some articles that were featured in the In The News section and I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I recently created the 2010 cargo plane bomb plot (involving Yemen) and I am hoping to get it to good enough condition that it can make the front page. I nominated the article as a candidate here but so far nobody has responded. Any tips or general advice for me? Much appreciated. :D – Novem Lingvae (talk) 09:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

i chimed in there. the article looks good. one thing i would recommend is to redirect all plausible search terms to the article as to attract more editors.--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 17:08, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
