Hello[edit]

I periodically work on articles dealing with the Melkite Catholic Church and Eastern Christianity. Please let me know if I may ever be of assistance. Best wishes, Majoreditor (talk) 17:43, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Corrie ten Boom[edit]

I noted your comments in the discussion section, and also your reticence in editing. But you should just change it to what you think it should be. If something makes no sense just chop it out! --Adam Brink (talk) 10:15, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral[edit]

The text you added to the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral article is well written and very interesting indeed, but lots of the early history really needs to be moved to the Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Newton. I think the article about the Eparchy, rather than the article about the cathedral, is the appropriate place for a synopsis of Melkite Catholicism in New England. The cathedral article needs only a relatively brief explanation about what the congregation was doing before they had a cathedral. Anticipating you'll agree more-or-less, and not wanting to "chop" at it with an indelicate hand, I'll stand off for a few days and allow you to adjust as you see fit. I much look forward to reading more interesting details from your keyboard about the cathedral itself! -- Best wishes. --Boston (talk) 04:47, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LA Churches & Temples[edit]

I'm pleased to have the photos used on your site. Some day soon, I hope to set aside a couple days to photograph churches in the South Bay, Long Beach and San Gabriel Valley areas as well. Feel free to use any of them that you think are helpful. Cbl62 (talk) 16:01, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the Cathedral of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Van Nuys is my favorite of the Byzantine churches I have visited. A beautiful little church. If there are other Byzantine churches here in Southern California that you understand to be particularly beautiful, let me know. I have a much better camera than I did when I took the previous pictures and would be willing to try to take some pictures.Cbl62 (talk) 16:06, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Catholic Church[edit]

Hi, you asked on the talk page how to change the article name - you should be able to do that following these instructions Help:How to move a page Widefox (talk) 09:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you've been adding a lot of duplicate links, via redirects in some cases, such that many lines now have two different-looking links that go to the same place. What is the point of that? Seems like excessive overlinking. Also you seem to have overlooked the difference between hyphen and en dash in connecting names; this would be good to get right. Dicklyon (talk) 05:56, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I presume the dupe links that you're referring to are the ones tied to the 'aka' entries - I was actually just thinking about that a few minutes ago and had decided it served no purpose. I'll kill off the ones in A now and the rest as I work down the alphabet over the next few weeks. As to the hyphen/en dash issue in connecting names, I'll readily admit to being oblivious to the need to distinguish between the two in that context and to not being clear on how best to accomplish it. Suggestions for going forward are welcome. (I'm going to be working this fairly regularly over the next few weeks, so I'll fix as I go, if you can point out how to approach/achieve it.) Irish Melkite (talk) 06:21, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I pretty much fixed them all already. I'm a Mac user so I just type the en dash on the keyboard, where it has been since 1984 (at option-hyphen), but if you're on Window or Linux, beats me. See Dash. Dicklyon (talk) 06:35, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - if I come across any others, I'll fix them. Yes, on Windows - so I'll check that out. A few of your aka reverts are going to go back though because they aren't accurate - Laurence-Moon is not the same as Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl, it's simply that the only discussion/reference to the latter is on the page of the former. Speedy deletion declined: Stratford Career Institute[edit]

Hello Irish Melkite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Stratford Career Institute, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: "does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject" - it has "eportedly enrolled more than one million students worldwide since 1991"; "serves only to promote or publicise an entity": one quarter of the text is about its unaccredited status. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 10:01, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Surviving WWII Vets[edit]

Thanks for all your hard work on that page. Remember, you don't have to sign edit summaries, that just shows up as four tildes. Czolgolz (talk) 05:43, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - never realized that. Irish Melkite (talk) 11:21, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of eponymously named diseases[edit]

Hi Irish Melkite, I saw you are in the process of reworking List of eponymously named diseases. Just a quick note that Wikipedia uses n-dashes (–) and not hyphens (-) when linking two surnames in disease names. Regards, kashmiri TALK 10:16, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. This came up previously, but it had been a while since I worked the page and I had forgotten about it. I'll have to go back and rework them Irish Melkite (talk) 11:01, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's quick find & replace, I'll do that in a moment if you don't mind. kashmiri TALK 11:59, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As a matter of fact, I'd be very grateful. I thought about that last night, but am still at a bit of a loss at to how to distinguish the two using Windows (I know that it's a much simpler task w/ Apple/Mac.) I won't be able to do anything more with the list until the weekend, so I'll try to do some research on the 'how to' in the interim. Irish Melkite (talk) 05:46, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Replacement done. If you take a look at the Wikipedia edit window, just beneath it is a line containing special characters. En-dash is the first one on the left. Otherwise, on Windows, Alt+0150 [on numeric keypad] will produce en-dash and Alt+0151 will give em-dash. Character Map is also there in Windows, although it's not terribly user friendly. kashmiri TALK 16:18, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
thanks very much - especially for the pointer as to which choice on the spec characters line is the en-dash Irish Melkite (talk) 18:02, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of eponymously named diseases may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Hi Irish Melkite -- it does seem a little untimely, though if you look at the original page [1] -- which I've just restored -- it mentions neither his acting career nor his mayoral campaign, appears autobiographical and is somewhat promotional in tone. There's a general consensus that unelected candidates do not gain notability from running for office per se, but obviously the press coverage will tend to help in satisfying the general notability requirements. I've added a note on his acting & mayoral candidature to save it from being immediately speedied again, but it might be best to take it to AfD so its merits can be assessed in detail?
