Welcome to the land of usernames, Ixfd64. Always good to "see" a new name on Recent Changes. -- Stephen Gilbert 00:55 Dec 15, 2002 (UTC)

Hello there Ixfd64, welcome to userland! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need editing help visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page and experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions or how to format them visit our manual of style. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump. BTW, nice pictures. Cheers! --maveric149

I saw you change the ordering of a date on Cassie Bernall. fyi, the display of a date is handled in the preferences, so there is no real need to go round changing dates to what you think is correct, as people will only see what they think is correct anyway.... :) Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 07:49, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi[edit]

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

hello there fellow bear[edit]

Thanks for leaving that message on my page. It was nice to meet a fellow bear on Wikipedia (though there are plenty of them that use this). Curious, how did you find me? I'm guessing one of the United States articles perhaps? --Alsocal 10:03, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I was looking through random contributors' user pages when I noticed that you went to Cal too. :) --Ixfd64 00:26, 2005 May 15 (UTC)

Hi there, I noticed that you moved Voluntary human extinction movement to the above by copying the content to the new page and then creating a redirect in place of the old page. This has the disadvantage that the history of the page becomes invisible from the new location (it looks like you just created it). You can do this sort of thing more neatly by using the "move" button. This also moves the history. Best, Slinger 10:23, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Wow, thanks! I didn't realize I could do that! --Ixfd64 19:34, 2005 Jun 3 (UTC)

Blanking pages[edit]

Hey! Please don't randomly blank pages. If a page is nonsense please check out Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion and simply nominate the article for speedy deletion so an admin can delete the page. If you blank it, an admin may have to go back and check what was on the page in the page in the first place. Thanks! Sasquatch′TalkContributions 07:04, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

  • OK, I will keep that in mind. I will also inform other users that they should request deletion of nonsense pages instead of blanking them. --Ixfd64 07:20, 2005 Jun 23 (UTC)

Please do not lower case bird species names. There is long-established convention on Wikipedia that bird species and some other animal groups are always capitalised, rather than the American preference of lower case. Thanks, jimfbleak 15:51, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I will keep that in mind. I actually did a Google search to check whether the names should be capitalized but came up with nothing conclusive. :\ --Ixfd64 16:23, 2005 July 20 (UTC)

Nice place to spend some time, too. Huell Howser now lives out here and he did a "California's Gold" about it. Which reminds me: The endangered desert pupfish is protected in some natural ponds there as well. Cute little critters. Only fish of that size I've ever seen that are attracted to people. They're about the size of feeder goldfish and they try nibbling on your fingers when you put your hand in the water, which is supposed to be a no-no. In about a month, it should be cool enough to enjoy again. It was 115 today! - Lucky 6.9 06:11, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for creating a stub for Verdugo Mountains. Fpo and I have been collaborating on this article at User:Fpo/Sandbox. If you would like to contribute to a fuller version of the article, please let us know. We also have a talk section on the sandbox page. Mike Dillon 05:21, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for creating those stubs. I've been compiling information on both events for some time and writing both articles offline, and I've been expanding the articles of other Californian Native American issues as well (History section of Mendocino County, Ishi, Yuki tribe and others). I'd like to know if you have information on such events and if you'd be willing to collaborate, or if you simply created these stubs for other people to expand. In any case, thank you again, and nice to meet you! Shauri 18:41, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unfortunately, I am not familiar with those events. :( --Ixfd64 00:38, 2005 September 1 (UTC)

Hi, Ixfd64. I noticed that you put a vfd tag on this article. There are still a few other steps you need to do to complete the process so it is added to the list of articles under discussion. If you need assistance with this, let me know, and I'll be glad to help. Joyous (talk) 10:38, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

I forgot to add that you can find the instructions at the bottom of Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion. You've completed step 1, but still need to do steps 2 and 3. Joyous (talk) 10:40, September 1, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. :) By the way, I listed that article for deletion because the contest didn't seem notable enough, and no other articles linked to this article. --Ixfd64 16:06, 2005 September 1 (UTC)

warnings[edit]

Hi - I noticed you added a warning to a user page and reverted some vandalism. Thanks! BTW - when you do this, I think it's better to user the syntax (so the template is expanded). -- Rick Block (talk) 00:21, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

monobook script[edit]

I've taken a look at your monobook script and changed it to include the code rather than linking to it. Please visit your monobook.js file and refresh to see if the changes work this time. - Mgm|(talk) 11:15, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • It still doesn't work. Thanks for your help, though. --Ixfd64 19:26, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • What should you be seeing for a change? Is Javascript enabled in your browser? Please send me a quick note once you've answered, so I don't forget to come back here. - Mgm|(talk) 22:53, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's a user script that helps non-administrators revert pages faster. It adds a "rollback" button, but works via JavaScript. --Ixfd64 00:34, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Did you purge the page cache when you visited the monobook.js page? In IE it's Ctrl+F5. Otherwise adding ?action=purge to the end of the page might help. Is it just that script, or have you had trouble with using other scripts? - Mgm|(talk) 20:57, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yeah, I've purged the page. Also, none of the other scripts seem to work. :\ --Ixfd64 22:46, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've deleted my monobook.js page, as I no longer need it. Thanks for your help, though. --Ixfd64 19:42, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Park stubs[edit]

Hi - I see you've been making a lot of stub articles on Canadian provincial parks. That's good, but what you probably didn't realise is that several provinces have their own geo-stub templates (like Alberta-geo-stub) - so I've just gone through a whole load and changed them over. If you're planning to do any more, have a lok at WP:WSS/ST (or at the top of Category:Canada geography stubs) and you'll see which ones have separate templates. Good work on the new stub articles, though... :) Grutness...wha? 12:43, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you! I had been looking for specific stubs for those articles, but could not find any. Thanks again! :) --Ixfd64 19:27, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

reply about page move[edit]

Actually, I was just duplicating the disambig template to another with a different category since the other template kept being classified as a generic disambiguation. The disambiguation category is overloaded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperDude115 (talkcontribs) Sept 20, 2005

Popups tool[edit]

Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:Ixfd64/archive 1/monobook.js:

// User:Lupin/popups.js - please include this line

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

popupShortcutKeys=true; // optional: enable keyboard shortcuts
popupAdminLinks=true; // optional: enable admin links

There are more options which you can fiddle with listed at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin|talk|popups 16:33, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gold coins[edit]

Err, my comment (with the dab page at Gold coins?) was meant to indicate that it would be better to have the dab page (if written) at "Cold coins" (lowercase, following Wikipedia standard for page names without caps), not that there was one already. I was waiting to see if I got any reactions (pro or con) before creating a dab page.

Also, according to policy, unless they qualify for speedy deletion (which this one didn't), things are supposed to stay on RfD for a week before they are deleted, so deleting it was a little hasty.

Anyway, you don't need to worry about RfD; I am pretty diligent about keeping it tidy. If you're looking for things to do with the new broom, try checking out Wikipedia:Cleaning department, it looks like Wikipedia:Requested moves has a bad backlog at the moment. Enjoy the broom! Noel (talk) 23:46, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!

  • I have replied on your talk page. --Ixfd64 23:53, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • No problem, don't worry about it (I realized the situation right away). Noel (talk)

Given that (presumably) you used English as your native language -- and while I understand that you might be humbly trying to show your level of English as not being great in light of your learning difficulties -- I think that "en" is more appropriate than "en-3." Obviously, though, it's up to you to characterize your language situation any way you want. --Nlu 11:50, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You warned them for vandalizing a page with "hello mum"? OK, you did the right thing... but it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen! Really cheered me up. :-) Best, Bishonen | talk 11:10, 14 November 2005 (UTC).[reply]

  • Yeah, I jumped to test2 since that user has been warned for vandalism before. I would have used test otherwise. --Ixfd64 11:13, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I tried addeing like you did to some other messed up pages and it did absolutely no good... Thanks Codex Sinaiticus 23:14, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unfortunately, that's the only page I have been able to fix for now. :( --Ixfd64 00:21, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
