Glassjaw is not Nu Metal

Hello, the sighted evidence you used for putting Nu Metal as a valid genre describing Glassjaw is very wrong. The evidence you sighted was from an article that described them as a band who came to be to kill that trend of "adidas rock." Plus, if you have ever heard Glassjaw you can clearly understand that they have strong elements of Post Hardcore, Alternative Metal, and Experimental Rock in their sound and no elements what so ever of Nu Metal. Per wp:verifiability (WP:V) significant content must wp:cite a wp:reliable source. Otherwise the article would have little credibility. See help:referencing for beginners and help:footnotes. I'm trying to put this in a neutral, sensible light, that the Korean foundation myth of Dangun is indeed a myth, and that the Gija myth is also a myth that is rejected by most scholars. The Dangun myth is indeed a myth, but there are no archaeological or historical evidence against it. On the other hand, there are archaeological and historical evidence that are inconsistent with the Gija myth. In fact, the Gija myth is attributed to an entirely different polity in the Liaoxi region, backed by archaeological evidence. You removed 'the last Hindu emperor of India' from the page, calling it unsourced. Edit records show that words have been removed more than 50 times till today during last year. My understanding is that except people at Wiki, all other authors and historians have agreed that Hemu had acceeded to throne of Delhi on 7th Oct. 1556 formally, before moving out to win Kabul and fighting a war on 5th Nov. 1556 at Panipat, in which he was killed in the battle field. 7th Oct. is celebrated as the 'Rajyabhishake Divas'm or 'Coronation Day' of Hem Chandra Vikramaditya by several organisations in north India since decades. This year a large function was held at Gandhi Darshan Hall at Rajghat on 7th Oct. in Delhi attended by several hundred historians and VIPs. Your talk page on Hemu on Wikipedia has several citations from European authors too. This I have to say because, there is a feeling that Wikipedia does not trust Indian authors and forcing their own thoughts by pick and choose method. I undid it as there was no source stating such. Please feel free to add it back - with a citation to a wp:reliable source. Please see wp:verifiability. Significant content needs to wp:cite a wp:reliable source. Wikipedia, being editable by most anyone, only has credibility by citing sources. Otherwise it would be useless as anyone could add anything and nobody could distinguish fact from farce. So, please cite a source. Use of foreign language sources are quite acceptable. Well, the article says that unreferenced material CAN be removed but doesn't have to be removed. Also, some passages of the added text contained links to other Wikipedia articles, such as a list of airports and the article about the Troika card. Why did you remove them? Hi Denghu - chiming in here since you left a message on my talk page, but I like to keep all threads together. Jim1138 is quite correct, uncited material can be removed at any time. You are also correct, in that it doesn't have to be. However, that codicil is pretty much there to prevent the removal of uncited material that is fairly well known. For instance, if I stated in an article that "In the United States July 4 is a holiday known as the 4th of July or Independence Day," then I wouldn't necessarily have to cite it. However, whenever you are adding facts to an article, like you did in Tourism in Russia, you should have a citation to back up those claims. If not, it can be viewed as original research which is very much frowned upon in WP. In the edit Jim1138 removed a bunch of uncited material, that removal is pretty much well-warranted. Corrections to Squadron (aviation)

Jim,

Copied your entry and your rationale for the un-do. My original corrections were based on my professional experience of 30-plus years in uniform and 3600-plus flight hours in jet aircraft in Naval Aviation, operating world-wide and to include aviation major command. I have also worked very closely with the US Air Force (to include an exchange tour), the Royal Air Force, and the aviation arms of the US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, US Army and Royal Navy.

However, I also teach at the university level as an adjunct, so your comments on sourcing beyond just my professional profile are indeed quite valid. When time permits, I will go back and make the adjustments to this Wikipedia entry, but with the proviso of also including legitimate documented sources.

@Streettrain: That is a good point. One might use the wp:template {{coord}} as a source. A person could use satellite view or street view for verification. How would one know if it is a railroad track, trolley track, etc.? Also, how would one know if it was active or abandoned?

Streettrain : the difference between Tram-Track or trein-track is simple to see  : Trolley-tracks does not continues on train-tracks , in the USA . A trolley , streetcar , etc. stays in the city. (and in Neighbourhoud-places sometimes) As you follow the line on streetview of maps then you will notice that for yourself where the line stops of continues . That s what i did in every city . Many of them have i discovered by myself , "by accident".(and by intensive searching) If a branch is abandoned , you can see there is no connection any more .(sometimes)Or all the rails is gone .(sometimes) About actuality : indeed is the situation of many lines unsure , but that s not only by street running trains !! @Jim1138: there were two edits and your flag (removal) didn't specify the problematic one. First, in the medal table (achievements bar on the right) none of the other medal listings are sourced because the links literally provide the source. You can click to see that Yugoslavia won the 1990 FIBA World Championship, and then click on the team to see that Radja was on it. (This is his single greatest career achievement, so you should probably revert that change). Second, the summary portion lacks a reference because the article body contains the the text and references. Do as you please with that one, but omitting the clarification that he played for two countries (because one disappeared) is somewhat useful, IMO. Fragile X Syndrome

With respect to the history expansion on this page, the edit was made after speaking at length with both the son and father physicians, Dr. R and F. de la Cruz on this syndrome and their research associated with it in the 80's and 90's. One of the first comprehensive outlines in academia was cited and I was also to make reference to the Fraxa Research Foundation (with citation to one of their periodicals then create that page given the organization's significant imprint in research with intellectual disabilities). Is there something erroneous in my edit that can be elucidated?

Garda, Veneto

Hi Jim,

Regarding an "Undo Edit" you performed to the "Garda, Veneto" article (back in February), I think the original correction is right (removal of a paragraph referring to some found Nazi gold). The linked news article [1] (also reference 1 of the wiki page), in Italian, states that the gold was deposited in the Bank of Italy in Milan during WW2, and was there found at the end of the war in a vault belonging to "Bank of Garda" (still in Milan). This bank originates from a village around Lake Garda, but has nothing to do with the Village of Garda itself, so this mention has no place in that article.

Note that the Marnate's Bunker article also cross references this same idea that the gold was found in Garda. It should also be fixed.

PS: I'm editing from the same IP, 212.136.9.4, but I have nothing to do with the original poster/editor. This is a shared IP, not sure even if it belonged to us 6 months ago.

This was my first effort at editing an article on Wikipedia, so I would appreciate any help you can give me. Please let me know what we did wrong.

I don't understand why you said that the changes I made to Sue Rubin's page were "unsourced". There were 7 references to publications included in the revision. If there is some other kind of source that you wanted to see, please let me know what it is. 

I am Sue's mother and was very disturbed by the implication that she is unable to communicate her own thoughts.  If you would like non-family members to validate what I (and my husband, Robert A. Rubin, Ph.D.) have written, I can have any number of professionals in the field contact you (or you contact them) who have seen Sue give presentations at conferences and university classes where they have seen her answer non-scripted questions from the audience and slowly type very appropriate answers without anyone touching her.  She even volunteered to attend a meeting of the American Psychological Association so they could see her typing to communicate, but they never responded to her offer.

Lydia Cacho

Hi Jim, I was asked by Lydia to bring a little more structure in some parts of the article about her on Wiki. I think that for her awards (which is not compleate) a listed structure is more siutable and readable. Ot is not my intention to make this a publicity place, but to add some more information that might be helpful for others.

@Kai taugenichts: That COI notice is to make you aware of the issue. If you are doing it for Lydia Cacho then perhaps your primary purpose is Cocho's interest and not for Wikipedia's wp:purpose. Hence, you may have a conflict-of-interest.
Writing or editing biographies is not my cup of tea, so I am not the best to give you advice on specifics. You can ask at the wp:teahouse for support. Two very important points:
  • Don't remove content unless it is unsupported, would not be of interest to a reader, or is in violation of wp:BLP
  • All content, per wp:V needs to be supported by a wp:citation of a wp:reliable source. See wp:RSNOT for what shouldn't be used.

@Kai taugenichts: Looks good. Try using wp:RefToolbar/2.0 (it's on the editor you most-likely used to add stuff here). You will see a drop-down list with "Templates" in it. Just select "Cite book". Postmodern philosophy

Hello, you removed my changes on the page Postmodern philosophy. The changes I made were through simple deductive logic. That is, they were completely logically based on the already provided information on the page that had sources. Why remove it? Other changes I made were fixing a few words for better generalizations. These were based on complete logic of already provided sources too. For example,

"Postmodern philosophy is a philosophical direction which is critical of certain foundational assumptions of Western philosophy and especially of the 18th-century Enlightenment."

was changed to

"Postmodern philosophy is a philosophical direction which is skeptical of certain foundational assumptions of Western philosophy, of the 18th-century Enlightenment, and of philosophy in general"


Now, postmodern philosophy is skeptical of logic and reasoning, but I made my changes based on logic of what was already provided to me.

If we want to get technical, the changes I made were based on the sourced fact that postmodern philosophy denies that objective reality exists, thus, postmodernists believe nothing can be verified as true or false, thus every point of view is thought of as equally valid. So through this logic, technically there is no difference between "providing a source" and "not providing a source," based on what was sourced on the page.

But the changes I made were based logically on this source- "Postmodernists deny that an objective reality exists, and deny that there are objective moral values.[1]"

Therefore the source was provided.

So I believe you have made a mistake.

@Kai taugenichts: I linked the ASIN and ISBN (only one needed). The last ASIN doesn't work. ASIN is the Amazon number which should be used if an ISBN is not available. Chloe Rose "vandalism"

Hi there. Why have I been flagged for merely adding a character name to this actress's filmography? It clearly states here on the Internet Movie Database that her characters name in Pyewacket is Janice, so why does it still say "TBA" in the character section on her page? That doesn't make sense. @LavenderFingers: Wikipedia goes by what wp:reliable sources state. "Flying rats" is cited (and is a term I have heard a number of times myself). See wp:NOTCENSORED. Diseases are covered by the sources that you deleted. If you think it should be removed, I would suggest taking it to talk:Feral pigeons per wp:BRD. See help:talk pages and wp:talk page guidelines. Pigeons were domesticated before dogs, the feral pigeons today are descended from the pigeons we domesticated, they live in cities because they resemble the rocks and cliffs that they would have nested in. However, please use a link to the actual source. i.e. instead of using the link above, (.diseases associated with [pigeons] present little risk to people..." Dr. Michael McNeil, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta. Link to McNeil's actual statement. Probably best not to remove the quotes about pigeons spreading disease, but add it in an encyclopedic manner. Be careful. If it sounds one sided the other way, it will likely be removed. @Kai taugenichts: They look good; the first two are the best. Might want to crop or "zoom in" on one. I can show you how to use {{Annotated image}}; it seems to be a trial-and-error effort. See Bob_Hoover and click on the top right image for an example of what Annotated image does.
I think you need to go through ORTS as the author is not you and there is no documented permission by Cacho (who is listed as the author) releasing the photos. Wikipedia is a stickler in such matters. You should start ORTS procedures quickly, or you might find yourself involved in copyright violation proceeding. @Kai taugenichts: Looks good. That's a problem with adding photos to Wikipedia. They essentially are public domain. One can minimize the resolution or crop it if desired. But it has to appen before you click that save button where you irrevocably commit it.

the source that he is a Baron is, click on the left and look at the Russian language page. Then google around, he's a Baron. Content, especially wp:Biographies of living persons need to be wp:verifiable. Any significant content should wp:cite a wp:reliable source. Calling Luke Lee a "minor" actor would qualify as significant information. If you feel it should be deleted as "unnotable" see wp:Article for deletion (AfD). Hi, Jim1138, firstly, you sent me a notice on my talk page claiming that I hape posted a topic in Talk:Male genital mutilation that is unrelated to the topic. Really? Currently, there is no Wikipedia article on Male genital mutilation. I suggested that a Wikipedia article should be created on Male genital mutilation like there is an article on Female genital mutilation, and the article Male genital mutilation should cover offenses such as "Penectomy", "Castration", "Penile subincision", "Male infibulation", "Male genital piercing and tatooing" etc. Though the Wikipedia article Genital modification and mutilation addresses the definition and examples of "Female Genital Mutilation" explicitly, the article doesn't address any such thing as "Male Genital Mutilation". The article doesn't address any definition for "Male Genital Mutilation" and doesn't even address offenses such as "Penectomy", "Castration", "Penile subincision", "Male infibulation", "Male genital piercing and tatooing" as a genital mutilation. This only sends a message that Wikipedia considers as there is no such thing as "Male Genital Mutilation".

Now how is the topic unrelated to the article for which you sent me a notice on my talk page that I have been using the talk page as a forum for general discussion on the topic unrelated to the article? Your notice indicates a personal attack as a result of your negative personal attitudes on the topic I posted in the article's talk page.

Furthermore, how are the edits made by Flyer22 Reborn on Talk:Male genital mutilation#There is no such thing as "Male Genital Mutilation"? valid edits? I posted a topic there for article's construction, and only answers related to article's contents are expected there. However, the user Flyer22 Reborn asked me a question under that discussion topic, "Not that I expect you to answer honestly, but are you Tenod888?" Now what type of comment is this? This is a clear personal attack. And the article's talk page is not a place for making such comments. Article's talk page comments must be related to the article's topic. When I answered him, "I am not. I would look for your answers.", the user Flyer22 Reborn again asks "And you also deny being Thiscrund68". This is clear personal attack as a result of his negative personal attitudes on the topic I posted in the article's talk page. And I answered, "I don't recognize any of these. I have asked a question here to get the answers. And I have no time to answer your irrelevant questions. If this is your job, then keep silent and do not disturb in talk page discussions like this. I would appreciate any relevant response in talk page. It's a Wiki policy and I hope you understand that better. If you like to reply here, you have to reply with relevant answer."

Thus, I deleted the comments posted by Flyer22 Reborn as well as my answers from the discussion topic, as those have no relevance to the discussion topic and represents a personal attack. Now, how is this edit a disrupting edit?

Furthermore, you send me a Warning on my talk page saying that I may be blocked for disrupting editing in Talk:Male genital mutilation, which is a unacceptable threat and personal attack. The topic I posted in Talk:Male genital mutilation is valid and constructive. And disruptive comments are rather made by Flyer22 Reborn there.

Japanese Culture

Hello,

I have edited the introduction of the Japanese Culture article, both times explaining why: It cited Chinese and Persian influences on Japanese culture. Whereas the Chinese influences are evident (introduction of Chinese writing system, cultural exchanges between the two countries...), the only evidence for Persian influences were limited to a few internet articles, some of which were outdated.

I am not saying that there was no contact between Ancient Japan and Ancient Persia. It just seemed inappropriate that it would be cited as a major influence on Japanese Culture the same way that Ancient China had. If the content isn't verifiable, then it shouldn't be included, especially not in the introduction.
