I removed the prod tag because the article was prod'ed in the past and per this the article isn't a candidate for the prod process. If you want to delete the article send it to WP:AFD. 月 (Moon)暁 (Sunrise) 12:49, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

prods

for the articles you are prodding, have you searched for references? Although they should have been put in by the author, if they haven;t, according to WP:BEFORE its your responsibility to check As reviewing admin, I will do a further check before deleting, but it helps to know what you have already done. That an article is unsourcedis not reason to delete. That it can not be sourced is reason to delete. DGG (talk) 14:09, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Francisco Acebal

I've added some sources to this article. Incidentally, it wouldn't have taken much effort to use Google to find some sources (or, in this case, to make one click through to the Spanish version of the article, where numerous sources are listed) rather than lazily proposing deletion simply because the article's subject is unfamiliar to you. --Nick Boalch\talk 14:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

The notability of this person still isn't clear from the article or the references given.--RadioFan (talk) 15:05, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit added maintenance templates to Groothandelsgebouw. When adding maintenance templates, please be sure that the article has the problem and give a valid reason for the adding of the template in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your adding of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:48, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Cute, you took the notification for removing maintenence templates and made one for adding templates. I like that. Very creative. However, the article still has problems. It still lacks references so the maintenance template is valid. Did you have some reason in mind for why this article should be exempt from wikipedia guidelines on proper references? I see there are some references bullet there now, that's a great start. Could you footnote them so it's clear what is being referenced and where?--RadioFan (talk) 15:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Does Amsterdam Hilton Hotel which I started a minute ago also lack proper references? What part about initial translation from Dutch wikipedia don't you get? I don't know which is which as I have translated from Dutch wikipedia based on these sources. Citations and development can continue when the article develops. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:56, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually sources shouldn't develop over time. It's the responsibility of the editor adding the material to properly source it.--RadioFan (talk) 16:01, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

That tag is more appropriate. Thankyou. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:00, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Looks like one of my comments was removed in an edit conflict....here it is again
The hotel article looks great, it is properly sourced and footnoted. You probably already know this but take a moment to look over WP:CITE for info on citing sources. The Hotel article is a good example of proper inline citations.--RadioFan (talk) 16:03, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm interested in your reasoning for redirecting this to the artist rather then to the relevant album (as I had done). I was under the impression that most singles were redirected to the album they were on if we had an article on the album. I'm not particularly bothered either way but would still be interested in knowing why you changed the redirect especially as you described it as "correcting". Thanks, Dpmuk (talk) 16:50, 1 May 2009 (UTC).

Sorry, I thought your intention was to redirect to the artist.--RadioFan (talk) 17:00, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, OK, I was wondering whether I'd missed something, like new guidelines, as I don't keep up with everything that's happening on wikipedia. No harm done. Dpmuk (talk) 17:52, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Lakeview Public School

While I do appreciate your point that primary schools are not generally important, there are about 40 other OCDSB primary schools which DO seem to be important enough, and no more extensive than Lakeview. I would respecfully request that we revert this back to a real, live page. Spuds McGoo (talk) 21:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Please provide a list of those primary schools you mentioned and we can redirect them as well. WP:OTHERSTUFF is not sufficent here, these articles must meet notability guidelines and there is no indication that this one will.--RadioFan (talk) 21:30, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, the first source is from Chosun Ilbo, one of the big three newspapers in South Korea. --Caspian blue 17:23, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Username concerns

hi! I just read the terms and I understand where your coming from. I used to have another Wikipedia username but it wont let me log on to it, and it also says its already exists.. I just was supposed to make an informative wikipedia page, not trying to promote it or anything ,but if you feel as though i should change my name no problem. i just dont know how.. im really new to this. thanks! Imbpwiki (talk) 01:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

If you provided an email address when you created that original account, you can have the password mailed to you. If not you'll need to create a new account.

sorry if this is annoying, but I'm really just trying to make a wikipedia page like the Operation Smile, just informative so if people have questions they can just look there and see oh hey thats what that is. im not trying ot promote or spam or anything. if i need to change my username fine i just dont know how. im only in highschool tryign to get an internship and i have alot of homework to do so any help would be awesome!! Imbpwiki (talk) 01:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Not annoying at all, I appreciate your asking questions and wanting to learn. The article is there and it is being improved. You need to stay away from it if you have a connection with this charity however. You are welcome to suggest reliable 3rd party references that other editors might find useful in improving the article and make other suggestions but please do so on the article talk page. COI is something taken very seriously here and anything you add is likely to be challenged because of it because it will be assumed to have the point of view of the organization instead of the neutral point of view demanded by Wikipedia. The article will suffer in the end so please consider contributing passively instead of actively editing the article. I'll be happy to help improve the article if you have suggestions.--RadioFan (talk) 01:26, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

again sorry! I did just try to have it send me an email but it says there is no account of that name.. does wikipedia delete accounts if they havent been used in a while? Imbpwiki (talk) 01:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

That account is likely lost. Please consider creating a new account and include an email address this time so you can recover the password if you need to in the future.--RadioFan (talk) 01:26, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

okay! thank you so much, I'm not sure what to do in this case, cause I'm not trying to promote it just provide information. It is possible I still could find a way to do so without making it sound biased, this may sound selfish but if I don't make this page I won't have an internship, its not like I'm trying to make it sound biased just simply state what it is, everything that goes along with it, I was planning on adding more for example controversy and such but I didn't get the chance too. Also I will make a new username, I'm just really confused right now. The goal for the page isn't to promote it, just to get information out, good and bad. Imbpwiki (talk) 01:31, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Your goal isn't at issue here. It's your connection to the organization. You can still help improve the article but please do so with the help of another editor, such as myself, rather than directly editing the article. Additional 3rd party references covering this organization would be a very good place to start.--RadioFan (talk) 01:32, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, for example like would an article by abc on IBMP help? Stuff like that! Again thanks so much I really had no idea what was going on! example Imbpwiki (talk) 01:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Could you please explain further...

Could you please explain why you placed a {{prod}} tag on the Phillip E. Carter article? Isn't it counter-policy to place a tag on an article within one minute of its creation? Carter's predecessor's Charles "Cully" Stimson, and Sandra Hodgkinson were merited coverage here. President Obama has announced that he is shutting Guantanamo. Are you seriously suggesting the DoD's point man in the shutdown does not merit coverage? Geo Swan (talk) 04:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

From the article, he appears to be a lawyer who has criticized the Bush administration. Hardly a very unique position. As the prod says, I'm not finding significant coverage of this person as is required by WP:BIO. I chose the prod tag instead of speedy deletion since there is some references there. If you disagree with the prod tag, you can remove it but please provide some more references to establish the notability of this person.--RadioFan (talk) 04:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

James Burke

Hi, I notice you've posted a 'more references' tag on my recent article. Does this tag need to be added, as most of the text is sourced (albeit not much is on-line). Is there a help page as to when such tags should be added. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eldumpo (talkcontribs) 12:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

There are sources there but it could still stand some improvement. The first source appears to be a primary source, isn't there a better reference than something written by the club? Correct me if I'm misunderstanding what this source is.--RadioFan (talk) 12:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I agree more sources would be better, although given the time period we're dealing with I would've thought there's not many that exist anyway (certainly not on-line which I tried to check). But then couldn't that apply to virtually any historical article of this type - do they all need such tags adding, isn't it a given that more references are generally better? The facts given are referenced, and why should something written by 'the club' not be considered a relevant source? Just to confirm the programme I refer to is a recent one which had a piece on historical players and where the info from the article has largely derived. Do you think I should've placed these comments here, or on the article's discussion page? Regards.Eldumpo (talk) 13:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Thats what the tag is there for, to indicate that more sources are needed. And yes, there are other articles which could be improved as well, but it's the responsibility of the editors that created those articles to properly source those, so we should probably focus on this article. The goal here is to make this article as good as possible. Since you created the article, editors like myself are going to look to you to provide the necessary sources to back it up, otherwise the article could be nominated for deletion.--RadioFan (talk) 13:32, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

To correct something I said above, I don't think it's more sources that are needed as such, but more information on the person - which is welcomed from others. However, I dispute that I have not provided the sources to back up the information - all the details provided are fully sourced, just not from an on-line site, but my understanding is that the printed article is just as good a source. I can't believe your last comment on possible deletion - surely no justification for that.Eldumpo (talk) 16:34, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not going to tag the article for deletion, just warning you that it could happen if more substantial references aren't added.--RadioFan (talk) 16:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Why delete material in an article after asking me to add it?

I am new to Wikipedia and don't understand what is going on, so apologies in advance. I was asked to provide references (other than articles authored by myself) and when I did, you deleted them. You have left only one line of the article which does look like an advertisement. You also asked me to make edits on the talk page but this has been deleted.Mohansodhi (talk) 18:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Mohansodhi 4thMay2007

Please read the Conflict of Interest notice that has been placed on your page and information about your COI that is being discussed in the article's deletion discussion.--RadioFan (talk) 18:30, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, I did read that and edited the article substantially. However, those edits have been deleted but I don't know by whom. Any comments I put on the AfD discussion are ignored as Wikipedians only refer to each other in agreement. Is there any way for me to respond? Mohansodhi (talk) 20:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Mohansodhi

At this point, anything you add to the article is likely to be removed because of your conflict of interest. Other editors are listening and responding to your AFD comments. Please read what they have to say. As I mentioned on your talk page, this subject just doesn't have the kind of significant coverage in 3rd party references that is demanded by Wikipedia to demonstrate notability. It may one day but not right now. Please understand that while you feel strongly about this subject, Wikipedia must retain a neutral point of view and there are a lot of articles created every day promoting various theories, books, bands, etc. and they've all got to be treated the same. Until they pass notability requirements, they've got to go.--RadioFan (talk) 20:11, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I created the article. What is needed to be done to uphold the Wiki standards? I could list the Strike Rules but the only place that has them spelled out is http://www.informativesports.com/Articles/MMA/Press_Conference.htm but that may violate WP: Original research, as I was at that Press Conference. The Champions and the past cards are all from the website and I don;t see where the tables have to be referenced seperatly on other organizations? I'm still learning so any infomation would be appriociated. David.snipes (talk) 22:00, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your note and you interest in making the article better. The article needs to have some good verifiable 3rd party references. Has the organization been written about in any newspapers, magazines, etc? This would be a good way to demonstrate notability here. Also can you verify the official name of the organization? The logo has USA-MMA but the article title says USA:MMA. I could help you move the title if you need.--RadioFan (talk) 22:12, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I have listed the newspaper articles that were in other sources and do not wish to have a conflict here. USAMMA is already a US Military site and the organization uses both the : and the - breaks. The only other references I could find either do not have information that would be needed here or are press releases as well. David.snipes (talk) 23:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

You have been trout-slapped. Please return to this AFD and improve the nomination reason. - Mgm|(talk) 12:04, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Forgive me, I was a bit annoyed at the speedy deletion for this article being declined. Nomination has been expanded.--RadioFan (talk) 12:11, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

I just wanted to drop you a note that I've tagged this redirect for speedy deletion, but I didn't want to template you. Another user removed this station from the Moody Radio affiliate list (which was reverted due to no edit summary), and also added text to the WFRN disambiguation page, which I've since moved to the talk page. These are the user's only two edits, so I suspect they may be associated with the station. Anyway, I've taken a look at the station's website and poked around the web otherwise, and I can't see anything that suggests that the station is affiliated in any way with Moody. So, I've taken them back off the affiliate list and applied the speedy. It was a while ago that you created the redirect, so I'm guessing you might not remember what suggested they were affiliated, but I thought I'd check. At the very least, I thought you deserved the heads-up. Mlaffs (talk) 17:23, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Francisco Rodrigues da Silva

Why on earth do you jump in like that with the assumption that I haven't edited the text of the interview in order to create an article? Did you read the article and compare it with the interview on which I based most of it? Opbeith (talk) 21:23, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

The article was moved to better meet Wikipedia naming conventions, specifically naming conventions for people. Parenthesis are generally used to qualify names (i.e. if there were more than one Francisco Rodrigues da Silva) which does not appear to be necessary here. While its best to name the article by the name the person is best known as and add redirects for other names that people may search on, I chose to move it to the full name since there are so many names at play here. If you have a suggestion of the name he's best known as we can move the article there. Is he best known as Francisco Rodrigues? Nunca? or is the full name most appropriate. To answer your question, no I didn't base this on the single source you list there but rather looking at a number of references for this artist which refer to him in several different ways. This article is also going to need some additional sources, if you had any recomendations, I'd be glad to help.--RadioFan (talk) 22:41, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

I need help on notability

Hi, I added an article last April 13, a biography of Gustavo Marín, and I noticed that RadioFan added a kind of warning note on "notability." I have tried to figure out what it is I should add to make this article Wikipedia worthy, but I'm afraid I need some suggestions from more experienced users. I also tried to find out how I could get those suggestions, including opening a "talk" page (?) but simply can't figure out how that works, and whether it even works. I then came to this RadioFan talk page and found it to be a place where other people are asking similar questions, and I just hope I'm doing the right thing by raising my questions here. If so, great, and I will be looking for replies, and if not, do you think you could point me in the right direction? There is so much literature on this and that and I can't seem to find the right path. I truly apologize. Vedah Eulalia (talk) 10:41, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

A good place to start is the link in the notice itself. Click on the text that says notability guideline for biographies for the guidelines on how notability is demonstrated in wikipedia articles.--RadioFan (talk) 11:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your quick reply. I guess I should mention that that is exactly where I started, before addressing myself to you, but I have to admit it is not all that clear to me. I was hoping you would say something more specifically related to the article, since you seem to have read it through and judged the notability criteria not to have been met. I have looked again. Some more specific questions, then: 1) If I added a scan of Mr. Marin's sentencing in Chile, would that make this better? 2) Is the fact that he is quoted here [1] considered a "secondary source"? 3) Can you suggest something more specifically related to the article (scans of the different book covers, for instance, is that good/necessary?)? Thanks in advance. Vedah Eulalia (talk) 10:52, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
The purpose of references is to show where the information comes from and also to prove notability of the subject. Is this person being written about in books, newspapers, magazines, etc.? Looking at a google book search on just his name I'm seeing a good number of hits. These make good sources and be sure to cite them properly. I'm not sure what you mean by scans of book covers, that's not really necessary. Verifiable references (i.e. citations to books, newspapers, etc.) provide proof that the person is notable.--RadioFan (talk) 11:44, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you RadioFan. I have added a lot of references, I hope I have not over-shot. Is this okay, now? Vedah Eulalia (talk) 16:47, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Ah makes sense now. I've seen a lot of bizarre titles lately, thought it was another example of that. So many editors seem to think they must summarize the article inside the parens you know ;) Thanks for the clarification.--RadioFan (talk) 16:53, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed your edits to the House article. May I ask why you put the information in the article? In my opinion, mentioning the worldwide broadcasting of the show is quite unnecessary. If you have a good reason why it should be in the article (perhaps somewhere in the wikipedia guidelines international broadcasting is mentioned), I am, of course, willing to change my opinion. If you do not, please stop adding it to the article to avoid an edit war. Thanks.--Music26/11 11:42, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

this information was moved out from House (TV Series) into Availability of House (TV series) by Hoav (talk · contribs · count). Hoav tells me that there was a bit of an edit war over inclusion of this information with a few editors who feel strongly about the article. After chatting with that editor I agree with them that it is encyclopedic and does belong in House (TV Series) but I can also see how other editors might see the format as a problem given it's length so I edited it down to a more compact form before readding it. I'm surprised by the response to this section however. A section describing where a television show has been distributed outside it's original country is very common (Examples: Friends#Distribution, South Park#Distribution, The Ren and Stimpy Show#Distribution, Knight_Rider_(1982_TV_series)#Distribution, etc.). Also, I have renamed the section to Distribution to match what precident set by other articles. I hope that answers your question.--RadioFan (talk) 12:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Hiya. Nice speedy tagging work. Can you get this one translated (I would guess from Icelandic or Norwegian/Norsk) so I can figure out whether to do the speedy deletion for db-nocontext? (Watchlisting) - Dank (push to talk) 22:05, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually it looks Norwegian to me. Here's what Google Translate did with it:
Former clubs Fana Il, Fire, Lightning - NTG, Stabæk, Norheimsund and now Øystese. With several model mission behind him he now has profiled itself as an important player in Øystese Idrettslag. With experience from Norway Top Sporting Gymnas, trenerkurs, NLA, and he works to bring Øystese IL. up in the divisions.

Appears to be about an athlete but even with a better translation that above, I don't think there is enough context there to tell much. db-nocontext seems reasonable here.--RadioFan (talk) 22:10, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. In the future, if you'll add the {{notenglish|norwegian}} (or it might need "no" or "norsk", since there's another norwegian language called Nynorsk) template, that will give me a link to run the translation so I can make the call. - Dank (push to talk) 22:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Primordial touring history

See my, answer on my talk page. Hervegirod (talk) 13:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

It is easy to just tag a page and walk away, but you could try and find some references for the Inspirational Country Radio page. Both User:Dravecky and myself looked for other information on the network and it is simply too new a network for any references outside of the station itself and possibly the FCC. So, if you can find some, please feel free to add them. - NeutralHomerTalk • 13:18, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

It's also easy to post on an editor's talk page and walk away. You can also add references you know. For the record I'm researching it but tagged it so it doesn't get forgotten. If references dont surface soon, it's going to get tagged for deletion. Just because it's new doesn't give it a pass from notability guidelines.--RadioFan (talk) 13:19, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, being that it is heard on at least one station (probably more), gives it some notability. - NeutralHomerTalk • 13:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
The station is certainly notable, but that doesn't translate to what appears to be a one station network (which isn't much of a network). I'm still looking but not finding much on this. Also, dont you find it a bit odd that this "network" doesn't have aa station list anywhere on it's web page?--RadioFan (talk) 13:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
So here is what I found. This appears to be primarily a streaming radio station. Looking at their Facebook statuses, there is only 1 broadcast station in their "network". They also claim to be "on satellite" and "coming soon to China" but I'm not finding anything beyond some blog posts, not even a press release. This isn't looking very notable.--RadioFan (talk) 13:56, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Like I said, Dravecky and I looked, we didn't find much....and trust me, we looked everywhere. The website hasn't really been updated in a couple weeks, though their continue to broadcast via their stream. I debated whether or not to even create the article, but thought it was worth a shot. - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Let's take it to AFD, perhaps others know of something that makes this notable. Otherwise it'll need to go.--RadioFan (talk) 14:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Works for me. - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:03, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Sure. The good news is that this article is not likely to be deleted as high schools are generally considered notable (not so with elementary or middle schools). Now we just need to make sure it's properly referenced to demonstrate that it's notable. I added a welcome note (sorry for the automation, but it's the quickest way to provide some good information) with some links to get you started. Then the best idea is to look at some good articles on High Schools and use those as a guide. Some you might want to look at include
  • Take a look at WP:CITE for information on how to cite the reference. If you post what you've got here, I could help as well. Hopefully the the oldest football rivalry this side of the Mississipi claim can be referenced.--RadioFan (talk) 13:39, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

yes we can source that although this isn't the one that I refered to. I'kk read the cite article now though.HellinaBucket (talk) 13:44, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

I got help with my sourcing. Thank you for yours as well. I might pop back by if I have more in the future, is this ok?HellinaBucket (talk) 13:52, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

if I want someone to come and loko at my aricle give me a few pointers is there a template for that?HellinaBucket (talk) 20:52, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, just a quick note to let you know that your AfD nomination of the above article did get completed, it is here (and listed on the May 5 log), so you may want to put the AfD tag back on the article. The discussion was red-linked on the template due to this edit by an ip editor. If you no longer wish to see this article deleted you could try withdrawing it as no-one else has recommended deletion. Hope this helps, ascidian | talk-to-me 20:34, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Note that CSD A9 applies to articles about songs or albums where an article on the primary artist does not exist. Icewedge (talk) 22:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

My understanding was that the bar was set lower for articles about singles than it was for albums. Album articles are okay as long as an article exists on the artist but articles about singles did not enjoy automatic notability and must demonstrate notability through chart performance, awards, or coverage in 3rd party sources.--RadioFan (talk) 22:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
True, but even if a musical recording is non-notable it does not merit speedy deletion unless an article on its artist does not exist. I encourage you to take the article to AFD if you think it is non-notable (I really have no opinion), but it shouldn't be tagged for speedy deletion. Icewedge (talk) 22:15, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
You are right, I was confusing WP:MUSIC with A9, thanks for pointing that out. I'll take it to AFD.--RadioFan (talk) 00:00, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Mitch Mills/ Rick Barrio Dill/ Sugarwall Hi. I'm new to this so please be kind. I have read all of the instructions/rules, and I think I know what I'm doing. However, I am a super music fan and am trying to get all these amazing musicians up, but I keep getting the "notability" tag, although the people/bands are completely legit and have external references. Could you please help me out? What do I need to do to have notability tags removed once someone else has posted them and I have gone back and added third paryy ref's? These are likely notable musicians, aren't there better references? So much of what is there is a blog or some primary source. Have any of these musicians had an album reviewed or a concert covered in a magazine or newspaper.?--RadioFan (talk) 03:26, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

See my response on the talk page. It's hard to tell between an article that is actively being worked on, and one that is created as a single sentence and never touched again. Consider adding {{underconstruction}} to help other editors tell the difference.--RadioFan (talk) 16:28, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I see your point. I'll use that tag. Thanks! --Uncle Ed (talk) 16:45, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Is the article okay now?

Hi,

First, thank you for all the useful tips for the article on Gustavo Marín. I have spent a lot of time working on it, both form and content, and I wonder if you think it is okay, now, and if it is, whether you can take away the tag {{notability}}.

And if not, well, I guess I still need your guidance, as on my side I think I have fulfilled the notability requirements, but I may be wrong. Thanks in advance! Vedah Eulalia (talk) 16:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Gateway School

I am trying to create a presence for Gateway School on Wikipedia in order to educate people on our history and to have an example our students can use as an example and constructively edit. When I search I find hundreds of primary and middle schools including several of our peer schools in the area, why are we being denied this resource while others are allowed it, is there something I need to focus on to make this an acceptable entry? I appreciate any feedback you can give me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jksc01 (talkcontribs) 21:29, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

While I appreciate your goals here, Wikipedia probably isn't the place for this. While articles on secondary schools (i.e. high schools) and colleges are common, they are rare for primary schools (e.g. elementary, middle, and jr high schools). They just dont meet wikipedia notability requirements. Generally these articles are redirected to the article on the school district (if an article exists) or the town where the school is. If you can locate suffient reliable sources to demonstration the notability of this school, then it may warrent an article, otherwise it needs to stay the way it is.--RadioFan (talk) 21:35, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Arthur Morton

Hi there. There are two different cricketers for the same team named Arthur Morton. The original plan was to have one set up at Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1882) and the other set up at Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1883), with Arthur Morton (cricketer) set up as a disambiguation page. With your permission, I would like to move Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1883) back to this page name, and turn Arthur Morton (cricketer) into a disambiguation page as I had originally intended.

I won't do anything until you give the okay, but this would be the more convenient solution. Bobo. 13:34, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Makes sense now, The only suggestion I'd have to the above is that the Arthur Morton (cricketer) page is not necessary. Links to Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1882) and Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1883) from the Arthur Morton dab page is sufficient and how disambiguation is normally done. I marked Arthur Morton (cricketer, born 1883) for deletion, you can move Arthur Morton (cricketer) back to that page once an admin has deleted the redirect article.
I wonder if you would mind sorting out all the redirects for Arthur Morton. I set up all the links to the 1883 cricketer shortly after creating the article and it seems that you had renamed it in the meantime. Now you have changed it back, they all link to the disambig page which is no good. Regards Motmit (talk) 21:22, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
The 2 articles mentioned above have been renamed as described above and are referenced from the Arthur Morton disambiguation page. Arthur Morton (cricketer) has been redirected to the disambiguation page. If I'm reading your comments above correctly, you are suggesting that a second disambiguation page be created just for these 2 articles? I dont see the need for this. The existing disambiguation page Arthur Morton works just fine. A disambiguation page specific to these 2 athletes is unnecessary.--RadioFan (talk) 21:54, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
It seems Bobo has sorted it out for you. Motmit (talk) 06:10, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I made it a redirect to Stamp_collecting#History. There's already a well-sourced section on this very subject there. Merging didn't seem feasible to me. Okay? Yintaɳ  11:19, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good to me, thanks for the note and thanks for taking care of that.--RadioFan (talk) 11:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello radiofan,

I see you redirected two articles with this reason: "redirecting to city article per convention for articles on primary schools". This is actually completely new for me so i am rather interested in that statement. Do you have any link to that convention? As far as i always knew schools were always considered notable due to there being no specific guideline on schools (Since WP:SCHOOL failed to gain consensus). Apparently im out of date with the guidelines on schools :) Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 11:45, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Like many areas of Wikipedia, there is no hard policy on articles regarding schools. WP:SCHOOL was proposed with the idea that all schools are inherently notable and was debated a while back but failed to reach concensus. Redirection to the article on the municipality is what usually happens with articles about non-secondary (i.e. elementary, middle, jr. high, etc.) schools that make no claim of notability. There are rare exceptions but those are backed up with significant coverage in 3rd party sources because there is something notable about that school. Is there something exceptionally notable about this school? Has it been widely covered in books, magazines, newspapers?--RadioFan (talk) 12:00, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Done considerable work for notability, but tag is still up

RadioFan, hello!

With your help and guidance, I hope I have done enough to meet the notability guidelines for the article Gustavo Marín. Can you let me know if it is all right now? If so, will you be the one to remove the tag {{notability}}, or am I authorized to do so myself? If not, can you tell me what sorts of references might still be missing? Thank you for your enormous help Vedah Eulalia (talk) 14:47, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not seeing any references. Are you referring to Selection of books and articles in which Gustavo Marín or his work is cited? These need to be cited and they'll show up as footnotes in the References section.--RadioFan (talk) 14:51, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm a complete beginner here, so just to make sure I understand. The article, under Works in 1988 and 1989, says "During this period, he published the following works, widely used as sources (see below)." The list under Selection of books and articles in which Gustavo Marín or his work is cited is a selection of works for which G. Marín's works are used as sources. Should I then add a footnote to the end of the sentence, and put that list in the footnote? Is that what you mean? Thanks for being so patient. Vedah Eulalia (talk) 15:05, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Another question: Do I need to add categories to the article?Vedah Eulalia (talk) 15:09, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, you need to footnote your references so it's clear where the information comes from. See WP:CITE and WP:FOOTNOTE --RadioFan (talk) 15:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I removed the speedy tag - it is still under construction. After a couple of days, a ProD may be appoproriate. Bearian (talk) 16:01, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

That was not at all clear from the article. It contained only a single link to the group's website. Let's see if it gets sufficiently improved.--RadioFan (talk) 16:10, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Thomas Henry Hamblin - challenge deletion

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Henry Thomas Hamblin, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

Orphaned non-free media (File:NC STARjpg.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:NC STARjpg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:55, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Greetings. I took the liberty of restoring the intermediate edits you reverted in this article when you restored the speedy deletion tag on the article. I think you were right to tag the article, and I don't disagree with speedying the article in its current form, but reverting what appears to be a good-faith attempts to improve the article strikes me as throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Keep up the good work in monitoring new articles, but please be more careful. Thanks! --Finngall talk 17:16, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't have a problem with your restoring those edits but wanted you to understand why I took the rollback shortcut rather than just add the tab back. The edits didn't impress me as good faith edits given the removal of the speedy tag, the user's COI, the block the user ultimately received for their spammy username and the fact that the article was pure spam (and was speedily deleted). Your way was certainly kinder though.--RadioFan (talk) 19:15, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually it's been deleted twice in the last few days and is likely to be deleted again if recreated. I'm sorry but I wont be assisting you here. Wikipedia is not intended for promotional purposes. As "Tech Support for Montyne" you have a conflict of interest and should not be creating an article about your employer. If his achievements are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article sooner or later.--RadioFan (talk) 02:29, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Gwlad y Gan

I fully understand the points you make about Wikipedia guidelines and citation discipline, but the problem with the TV series Gwlad y Gan / 'Land of Song' is that there is virtually no published account of it all all, save for some passing references in material relating to a) the TWW company, and b) the show's star Ivor Emmanuel. Yet the show is still very well-remembered in Wales and is often asked about. Having researched it thoroughly (mainly because of a family connection with those who appeared in the show from the beginning, including my own father), there seemed to be a need for SOME account of the series at least, espcially as I have had direct access to some of the key personnel. Thereforfe, of course, this article is bound to be anecdotal in some respects, but I am fully prepared to answer any challenges over accuracy that may result. I dont doubt the notability of this article and will do what I can to defend it should it be brought up for deletion but please understand that no sources are probably better than primary sources. When other editors see a reference to an interview you personally conducted or something you published, they aren't just going to question that reference, they are likely to question the article as a whole. The primary sources need to go and the article would be less likely to be challenged or the information you've added removed with better sourcing from reliable sources.--RadioFan (talk) 14:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

As I mentioned in the edit summary, I'm no copyright expert, someone else more familiar with Wikipedia's standards on how use is to be granted needs to look at this. Also, what is your connection to this record company?--RadioFan (talk) 18:31, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Dear RadioFan: Thank you. I hope this problem can be sorted out quickly. To answer your question: I know the owner of the company, talked back and know for sure that everything is ok! Best, Party diktator (talk) 10:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Dear RadioFan: "I know" somebody, has nothing to do with "a close connection to some of the people, places or things i have written about". You can call me a fan of this music, thats about it. I also "know", Michael Jackson, but I would not be able to actually contact him... So please don´t get me wrong here. I am not used to work in this Wikipedia world. I am just starting. And I am also not used to deal with all the rules and regulations. They seem to be quite complicated and complex. I am sure you will find a way to destroy my work and delete all I did, if you really want to. So just go ahead and do what you have to do. All I can say is: this was quite a lot of work for me and it is notable information, even as it was no big commerical hit... Best, Party diktator (talk) 15:25, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

It's really only complex when copyright issues come into play. When something is copied and pasted into wikipedia, copyright violation questions arrise. This protects wikipedia. Conflict of interest questions are pretty easy to deal with. If you have a connection, describe it, if you dont it's not a big deal. When you posted items that have copyright violation concerns and within hours the website of the copyright owner had been updated with permission for you to copy them, questions about your connection naturaly arose.--RadioFan (talk) 15:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Dear RadioFan: This is how it worked: I got in contact with the company, explained what´s going on and they reacted promptly as they wanted to support my work. I would appreciate if you could delete all your ugly banners from the pages. First reactions on the talk page should have given enough answers to all your questions. There is no copyright violation going on here and all of this is notable! I am sure there is other pages that really do deserve deletion. Thank you very much for keeping an eye on this. Have a nice day, Party diktator (talk) 16:08, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

This information really needs to be over on the discussion about the copyright issue. I'm just an editor like you and have no authority other than to bring items of concern up for discussion.--RadioFan (talk) 04:07, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi RadioFan. You created this stub and it's been tagged for speedy deletion. I checked the talk archives of WP:Journalism last week and saw that it was proposed that daily newspapers always be considered notable; the problem is that few non-journalists will agree with a paper like this. It gets only 10 hits in the "news" link that comes with prod-nn, and none of those hits remotely suggests notability. Usually even small newspapers will get a lot more than 10 hits off of items quoted from the paper. Can this be saved, and if so, how? - Dank (push to talk) 02:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I really wish there was some sort of consensus on newspaper articles. Radio stations have something like this but it's mostly based on the fact that they are licensed by a government. Still any paper worth anything has probably won some awards which is the route I went with this one. Still the article needs further improvement, particularly in the area of history. We'll continue to work on it.--RadioFan (talk) 14:07, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

STS-400

I removed the 'See also' item you added because 1.) STS-400 is the designation for this flight only, and was already linked in the article (already linked items don't belong in 'see also' section), and 2.) The CSCS numbering will return to how it was pre-STS-125, meaning it is STS-3xx, where xx= flight after current mission. So rescue for STS-127 will be STS-328, but the link goes to the generic page of STS-3xx. Hope that explains how they've set it up at NASA, and thus here as well. Cheers, ArielGold 12:36, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

While some editors see the See also section as something be used only when there are no links to the related articles in the article body and that cant really be resolved without degrading the article, I personally see the See also section as something that can help call out the most relevant related articles. But I guess I can live with your edit. STS-127 is certainly relevant here since 400 became 127 essentially. As for the numbering, all we can say is what NASA plans to do based on press releases and 3rd party reliable sources. They planned to number LON flights in the 300s and then 400 came along.--RadioFan (talk) 12:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I see where you're coming from, but STS-400 was created specifically for the Hubble rescue only, that's made clear in the documentation, as it is a completely different type of scenario than an Launch On Need flight. Now that STS-125 is done, STS-400 is done as well, and the rest of the flights will follow the CSCS rules as always, using ISS as safe haven, using the same numbering system as was previously used. The crew for STS-400 is not the crew for STS-127, so the only thing that is the 'same' is the orbiter, really. :) As for the see also section, "Links already included in the body of the text are generally not repeated in "See also"", per the Layout guide, which is what I go from for article building. Cheers! ArielGold 13:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Patch

Why did you request CSD on the patch? I think that's a great image, and should be used once the nasa.gov source URL is found! Wikipedia loves mission patches, lol. ArielGold 12:44, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I cant find reliable sources showing that it's official and/or created by Nasa. Without this information I cant justify the normal copyright (or lack of) that govt created images have. NASA isn't publishing this anywhere that I've found.--RadioFan (talk) 12:49, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Doh! Did you get it from the L2 forum? That is a bummer, that would have really been a good image for the STS-400 page! *cry* ArielGold 12:52, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Yup. The red cross version is most likely official since it's being sold in multiple places, but without copyright info, it's a no go on wikipedia. I'm heading down to KSC for 127 and will hopefully have time to visit a gift shop. If there is a 400 patch there, I'm getting it.--RadioFan (talk) 12:56, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Omg I'm so jealous! Are you going to get to see STS-127 launch? I've wanted to see one for decades, but have never had the opportunity. Take lots of pictures! :D ArielGold 13:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WDXR. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hello RadioFan. I think I've committed some kind of technical blunder (it is not vandalism, I promise you!). I have just tried to create the article, Karandavyuha Sutra, but I found that when I clicked on the superscript numerals to get to my references, they would not show up. That article was called "Karandavyuha Sutra" and had a couple or so dots under certain letters (Sanskrit diacritics). As the references did not work, I decided to delete that whole page and start again with a new page called "Karandavyuha Sutra" without the dots under that name (i.e. without Sanskrit diacritics). I saw your tag come up, saying no references were givnen, etc., and I thought that must be a mistake - as I have in fact given references. They are now in brackets in that article, after most of the main points. Anyway, sorry if I have cocked up in some way and have caused you a headache. I hope we can sort out this problem! Suddha (talk) 13:17, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism is a strong word and not what I intended to get across there, but removing maintenance templates without either resolving the problem the template notes or at least giving some reason for removing the template in the edit summary is not appropriate. I do see some references there but they are not in the correct form, please see the citation style tag on the article for more information.--RadioFan (talk) 13:23, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello again RadioFan. Thanks for the nice answer. You know, it is strange: when I created the first version of "Karandavyuha Sutra", I added all the references using the correct method ([1]), but when I clicked on the superscript numerals, I was not brought to those references. I have noticed this before when I try to create an entirely new page: this method of referencing never seems to work. But it works fine if I add refs to already existing aritcles. What am I doing wrong?! Best regards. Suddha (talk) 13:27, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi once more! I think I've got it now: thanks to your good self, that References section has been added, and I have now created the correct format for the references. Thanks for your help - it seems to have worked! Suddha (talk) 13:39, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

hello, this is about the deletion proposal of the article on Brajanath sarma. Well, you were quite right for that proposal as I did not put any references but deleting on the basis of 'non notable person' is probably not justified. In some articles of wikipedia namely Phani Sarma, Kohinoor Opera, his name is mentioned and also brief accounts of his association to those noted persons from Assam. I have added some references to the article and also changed few things. Moreover, 'mobile theaters of Assam' is one of a kind institution in the world, and as the pioneer of the institution, I think he should have an article in wikipedia. Waiting for your words. Thanking you.. উদ্দীপ (talk) 19:15, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

This article still needs more 3rd party references the notability of this person per WP:BIO. notability guidelines require signifcant coverage in reliable sources, there is only one in the article right now. --RadioFan (talk) 19:21, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

CAPA

Please see Talk:Columbus Association for the Performing Arts. Thank you. Markhh (talk) 18:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

I appreciate that articles about organizations as opposed to places or generic topics are particularly sensitive to the possibility of COI. Thanks for your interest. I added the article for context for other articles on the history of the buildings that CAPA mangaes. My personal hobby/interest is in performance and theatre history, especially local. My profession is in another field entirely and I have no ties to any local arts organizations. Please note I have added a number of refs, such as I could gather without a trip to the library, to the CAPA article. I hope these will make the article more sound. Cheers Markhh (talk) 20:18, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm on a borrowed PC for a moment so I don't have my usual tools to extract, edit, and upload a logo but it appears that the logo on WDXR is just flat out the wrong logo. It doesn't match the formatting or the frequency. There is what appears to be a current logo at this station group site so if you were inclined to add the proper logo, I can't see how anybody could object. - Dravecky (talk) 05:05, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Done, thanks for finding that.--RadioFan (talk) 11:25, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Your Choice Records AfD

Hi. The debate seemed like a "no consensus" to me considering both sides (despite blocked users), and it wouldn't really be kosher to change an AfD close well after it's been performed; if you'd like to take it to DRV, that's certainly within your..."rights" probably isn't the best word, but you get my idea. One two three... 14:22, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Cunningham Recklessness

I don't think you were correct in nominating the page for speedy deletion. If you feel differently feel free to state why in the discussion page. Eiad77 (talk) 11:03, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

It was tagged for deletion because appeared to be an incomplete cut and paste from elsewhere and doesn't make much sense. I've removed the tags, please continue to improve the article. --RadioFan (talk) 11:08, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the "Codice" article

Thank you for your comments regarding the Codice article; it simply translates the article that already exists on the French wikipedia (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conseil_pour_la_Diffusion_de_la_Culture_Economique) but I'm not sure how to link both articles?

Regarding the "notability" problem, as the French version has been online for a few months now, I guess it also qualifies to be on the English version? We have had many international partners willing to have more information about us, which means the English article would help us a lot.

Thank you for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Codiceanglais (talkcontribs) 11:10, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Notability is established through references to 3rd party sources. The article needs to be referenced in both wikis. Presnce on another wiki doesn't provide any guarantee on the English wiki. Also, what is your connection to this organization?--RadioFan (talk) 11:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Octagon Press Ltd

Hi RadioFan,

You flagged the article Octagon Press Ltd for lack of notability. The difficulty I'm having, which you'll see immediately if you have another look at the article now that it's been extended, is that hardly anybody has said anything significant about the publisher itself, but the company's founder, authors and products have had a lot of coverage and are notable. Folk talk about authors and books but often only mention publishers in passing, especially if the company is not quoted on the stock exchange.

The problem is that the letter of the wikipedia law rules out such inheritence. Is the wikipedia policy too inflexible here? Ideas most welcome. Thanks Esowteric (talk) 20:20, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Different editors have different opinions about how strictly this should be enforced. Some want to allow nearly everything and support deletion of only the most obvious vandalism and allow everything else. Others want strict adherence to notability guidelines. Most are somewhere in between. Personally I lean towards deleting that which cannot be sourced according to the guidelines and do agree that notability isn't inherited. However, I think that in this case, flexibility is called for. It's a publisher with a good number of titles in print. Thats enough for me in this case.--RadioFan (talk) 20:54, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks, RadioFan: that's very much appreciated. Esowteric (talk) 20:58, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
My local public library has some nice databases of older newspapers. I'll try there (though this being a UK company, I dont expect much).--RadioFan (talk) 21:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
  • (e/c) I have tried to help Esowteric to put the article on a more solid footing. The best references I have found are the founder's (Idries Shah) obituaries in The Daily Telegraph and The Independent [2][3], but they still only devote a paragraph each to his publishing company. I still think there probably should be more detailed sources available (publishing/book trade journals and the like), but at the moment I am a bit stumped for how to lay my hands on these. What also does not help is that Idries Shah died in 1996, just as the Internet took off. A lot was written about him and his publishing drive in the 60s and 70s, but that stuff is not easily accessible without popping into a library (and knowing what to look for). But basically, I agree the company is notable, and we'll keep looking. Cheers, JN466 21:01, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Time team live

Hi there,

I am trying to work out why you remove the episod elsit form tiem team live artile i created? ever other time time minor article has the list as it important and notable enough to be there. the information is not covered anywhere else--Andrewcrawford (talk) 11:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

  • I dont think we need the list of episodes both in the main article and in 4 seperate list articles. That huge list was replaced with links to the 4 list articles which contains the same information.--RadioFan (talk) 11:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Biut the list is not in the list of tiem team epsiode as it is serpate from the main show, i am not dublicating the information the list is serpaerate to the main one if oy lvook throught the List of Time Team episodes you will not find any of them.--Andrewcrawford (talk) 11:38, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see now. Thanks for clearing that up.
No problem i just wanted to be sure there was not a another reason :)--Andrewcrawford (talk) 11:40, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Films

Thanks for stopping at my page.

It's a policy, I followed before and you might have seen, I always source reliable information =).

Universal Hero (talk) 13:27, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Just dredged that one out of the archives - or rather, space where it was floating around (you need to transclude them to the main page if anyone is to see them - and wondered whether you want to continue with it or withdraw. - Jarry1250 (t, c) 15:55, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to continue with it and wondered why noone had commented either way. Thanks for finding it.--RadioFan (talk) 17:17, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'll transclude it for you, and you can post a little notelet on the BRFA confirming you'd like to pursue it. - Jarry1250 (t, c) 17:42, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand your rationale... I've "speedy keeped" it. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:54, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

After an AfD is closed, comments should go elsewhere. :-) - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:46, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Comments directed at a specific editor should go on their talk pages, rather than in AFD discussions, especially those that are soon closed to editing. I'd appreciate it if you either removed your comments or restored mine.--RadioFan (talk) 19:31, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Comments about a specific editor's editing actions not directed at him/her don't really count as "directed at a specific editor". - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:45, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I didn't see it that way and don't appreciate my comments being removed. Please restore them.--RadioFan (talk) 21:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, FYI I've now extended the block on User:CharlieGates06 to include a block on their using the emailing from that account. ϢereSpielChequers 09:51, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi RadioFan, thanks for your interest. I've now done further work on Martin Weaver. Drop by and consider removing the {{introrewrite}} tag. AJRG (talk) 11:49, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

It's much better but I still think it could be improved. The intro should be able to stand alone as a concise overview of the article. Ideally the intro should be the answer you'd give someone if they asked "who is Martin Weaver"?. Your answer probably wouldn't start with "he's the person who took the first call on the Terrence Higgins Trust’s AIDS helpine". It would more likely identify his profession (establish the context) and then go on to identify him within that profession (summarize the most important points, brefily note why he is notable). Also avoid acronyms unless they are very widely known.

Example: Martin Weaver is a registered psychotherapist and Trustee of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. In 1993, as District HIV Prevention Coordinator, he commissioned the first clinics for sexually transmitted diseases in the UK.

You can then go on to detail the clinics and his role as director in the paragraphs below.--RadioFan (talk) 12:20, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

What you've got there now is much better but the opening sentence could lead readers to think he's an activist or volunteer, not a professional doctor. Later sentences clear that up but we want to be as clear as possible in the WP:LEAD section.--RadioFan (talk) 12:37, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
