Astrobiology

My problem is not with what biologists do. It's with the claim about what physicists do. It's absolutely not the case that physics asserts that everything mathematically possible exists per force. Physics allows for many possible phenomena that physicists don't necessarily believe exist - primordial black holes, wormholes, etc. The sentence clearly needs to be reworded or scrapped entirely. —Swpb^talk 13:46, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

@Swpb: Thank you for the note. My experience in the published literature and in the field is that when physicists compute the possibility of liquid water on Mars, they formally declare it habitable, even if it is a temporary water microfilm bathed in cosmic radiation, while they ignore the essential additional requirements for habitability. Anyway, instead of expanding in this miscommunication that happens often between the 2 disciplines, we can just drop the "Unlike physicists". With the Ayotzinapa case on the headlines, I think this news won't garner enough attention. Rogelio González Pizaña was released a few months ago and is apparently back in the game to restore the "old school" of the CDG-Zetas, according to the narcomantas. I am still hoping for restrictions as a result of the ANI discussion. It's 12 support against 7 oppose now. Involved editors are really fed up by his 1000 comments in January and about 2000 in December [3]. It looks like a campaign. JimRenge (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

IMO, short of a complete ban, specific topic bans would be the best. Notice he does little editing at all, he seeks and craves attention in talk pages. This has been going on for years; he knows the system's weaknesses and exploits them to feed his need for drama and attention. Admins have looked into him in the past and let him loose every time, so I do not expect any action now because they inadvertently taught him how to perpetuate this behavior. You will see; and the only truly effective way to deal with him is the "do not feed the trolls" technique. Ignore him and just hide his forum assays and spam. Artificial life

Hi. I'm sorry for interrupting, but I need your help, if I could. Please note "artificial life" redirects to article about a field of research (including syntetic biology, computer programs and simulations, robots and machines e.g. hipothetical self-replicating and others) and there is statement "For artificially created life forms, see synthetic life.". Also when we are writting "synthetic life" in searching place it redirects to "Synthetic biology#Synthetic life". Also, in that section it was written Venter's creation was not synthetic life (although he's claimed that), but a mile-stone to create it, so that section was about trying to create synthetic life, not about already created. I think that redirecting to artifical life article is not clear (cause it can suggest robots for example too) and we should redirect to synthetic life section (which should be still existing) because potential/possible-in-future artificial (meaning synthetic) life could be considered living, not machines and robots (unless they can be created as synthetic organism). @Pinoczet:. I will start working on a draft tonight to be used for the the 'synthetic biology' or synthetic life forms sub-section. What Venter called "artificial life" is in fact synthetic genomics, and he has the ethics to call it as such in scientific publications. He also has the right to call it anything else on his web site and investor relations comuniques. What matters here is Wikipedia, and you are right that such article (or sub-section) is needed. I will start creating a draft today. Again, thank you for your message and will touch base with you in a couple of days for more of your feedback. EJSM, JMO, JUICE, LP, etc.

The EJSM didn't get off the ground. NASA backed out, then started the EMFM. ESA converted the leftovers to JUICE, and it seems Russia wants Laplace-P to be on JUICE on the way there, using that as their transport. But I'm wondering something...This JMO and Jupiter and Trojan Asteroid Explorer...I haven't seen any news newer than 2012, shortly before the EJSM ended. What happened to JMO? @DN-boards1: I know the history and cancellations. The current status is that Laplace-P is a Russian proposal ≠ planned. It may be an all Russian mission for all we know, as they have designs for both the lander and orbiter to be launched separately with their own Russian launchers ("The design of the landing module would derive from the yet-to-be-developed Luna-Glob mission. In turn, the orbiter could borrow its systems from the ill-fated Phobos-Grunt project." Source: here; and look at the title: "Russia funds a proposal") YOU don't know what will the outcome be, so DON'T write that they will fly together with JUICE. The history of those missions are complex and I would not like to se you tamper with that information with that quality of initiative. Dwarf planets

The University of Cambridge paper on plutoids from 2010 by Tancredi, look at the table. It is indeed supported. All the ones I listed (we can remove Charon and Vanth and Dysnomia if you like, those aren't supported) are in the table under either "Yes" or "Yes?" near the end of the paper. Anyway, that Table 1, on page 178 lists the candidates or proposals. (You keep doing the exact same WP:OR with concept spacecraft and you write that they are funded and in development.) You have no authority over the AIU to certify what bodies are or aren't dwarf planets! Therefore, my reverts stand because you keep misrepresenting the sources. In between edits, you finally figured and separated the dwarf planets from the candidates. Yes, only these apply: Eris, Quaoar, Sedna, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, 2002 TX300, 2002 AW197, 2003 AZ84, 2004 GV9, Ixion, Varuna, Huya, and 1996 TL66. Not the ones with interrogation marks. Well, they're still ones he's chosen as candidates. He's said basically "Okay, these ones I'm pretty sure are dwarf planets", therefore I included them. What part of WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH you don't understand? Feel free to make a list of candidate dwarf planets if you must, but don't record them in WP as if you have the authority over the AIU and classify as you please. You do not get to decide and insert a reference that it "may be close" to your POV and OR. You have a real problem with comprehension and aptitude.
