An Arbitration case involving you has been opened, and is located here. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Geogre-William M. Connolley/Evidence. Please submit your evidence within one week, if possible. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Geogre-William M. Connolley/Workshop.

my comment to G

yes, the generic 'americans' we. While personally, I dislike our facination with the terrorist/freedom fighter dichotomy to ignore it when looking at these issues (especially for folks from other parts of the world) misses an important facet of the world view of many americans (even those who abhor violence in all its forms). --Rocksanddirt (talk) 03:23, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Notification of injunction relating to Giano II

The Arbitration Committee, in Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Geogre-William M. Connolley, has voted to implement a temporary injunction. It can be viewed on the case page by following this link. The injunction is as follows:

For the duration of this proceeding, Giano II (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is not to be blocked, or unblocked, by any administrator, other than by consent of a member of the Arbitration Committee.

As noted in the text of the injunction, this restriction is in effect until the Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Geogre-William M. Connolley case is officially closed by a clerk, following a successful motion to close by the arbitrators.

Content edits

Could you please outline for me your most recent edits in content and the pages you have written and created. These things are of huge interest to some people [1]. A percentage would be helpful. Thank you. Giano (talk) 18:47, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

PS: Of the pages you created, which are you most proud of, or are you just here to express your opinions? Giano (talk) 21:57, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
In answer to your questions, Giano, I'm most proud of the article Connie Hawkins, amongst others, but I'm also proud of keeping numerous articles unvandalized and free of influence from certain banned users (User:JB196, for example. I will freely admit that I have no FA, or GA. I'm not a content creator. But I've done my own share of work. Look at the history of Sports clubs (specifically the talk page) for example. But I think, as the saying goes, it takes all types, from article creators to folks willing to protect articles from vandalism and bias. SirFozzie (talk) 22:04, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you Sir Fozzie. "Sir" a baronet I assume? I look forward to seeing more of your sterling work. Giano (talk) 22:05, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
You assume incorrectly, Giano. You see, I work for a living. SirFozzie (talk) 22:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
You would do well to remember, Giano, that plenty of good quality article editors have no interest in GA and FA cos they have other tasks at hand and are no less important for it, though great to see the Irish Mexican up to GA standard by VK, GA and FA are great too. Thanks, SqueakBox 22:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
You mention FAs Squeakbox, not me. The good quality articles you mention are rare enough, anything above a stub is remarkable these days. Giano (talk) 22:39, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
That would be Featured Article, Squeakbox. Risker (talk) 22:15, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
I merely mention the subject, as I have been asked to justify my edits [2], I thought the other side may care to do the same. Or is it only me that has to write and have no opinion? It seems some just have the opinion Giano (talk) 22:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
I have said nothing about that, have I? And have I answered all your questions in full? SirFozzie (talk) 22:22, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
I have no idea what you have said Fozzie, the only thing I know is that you set this monster in motion, for reasons best known to yourself. Giano (talk) 22:32, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
As you didn't ask I'd say Booterstown marsh is the pinnacle of my achievement though I do have a soft spot for the N62 road and, of course, Hollyford and I adored the whole series of years-in-Ireland from 600 to 699; sadly, my affection for those wasn't shared by some members of the community. You do make a good point in favor of the tranche system. I somewhat dislike the idea of more frequent elections, but I'm convinced that there are benefits worth considering, at least. Clarification

Hi - I wanted to clarify this comment of mine, because on re-reading it I realize it could be taken in a way I didn't intend. I've already struck the last sentence, which was a gratuitous reference to the Orangemarlin situation. I realized on re-reading it that it could appear I was addressing you, as the thread initiator, with that sentence. That wasn't my intention; I have always had, and continue to have, a huge amount of respect for you. Regardless of whether we agree or disagree on individual issues, that's the case. Anyhow, just to preempt any misunderstanding or hard feelings. :) MastCell Talk 21:20, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

OK

Well, that un-pisses me off then. Wish you'd said that from the start. I've been hitting my head against a stone wall at Barack Obama-related subjects for the past seven weeks or so, wondering how the hell I got into this and trying like hell to keep my own biases from coming into the room. Thanks for taking the Solomon thing seriously. But I meant what I just posted: we need to project an attitude of watchful humility, because even the mostly wrong critics are sometimes right (and it hurts Wikipedia's reputation either way). And it strikes at our weak spot. Actually, I shouldn't be posting now. I'm too tired. I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks for the note.Noroton (talk) 01:11, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

a deletion review

Dear SirFozzie, please could you possibly, or nag someone, to close this DRV Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2008_July_12#Murder_of_Joseph_Didier. User:Presumptive is my adoptee, and although I'm not invested in and would respect a decision either way, I remember how stressful it is to be waiting for the conclusion of a deletion debate in which you're very involved, and after 7 days think it's best to put people out of their misery.:) I ask you because Alison is busy moving house or something, and the English admins are probably mainly asleep.:) Sticky Parkin 00:29, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Please take a look at this discussion

Just to show you I still respect your sound judgment, would you look into Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#User:Boy2Boy and weigh in however you think best? There's an accusation of homophobia flying around (always a wonderful thing to be accused of), but I think I'm arguing in favor of his indef block on the basis of Wikipedia policy. And if you disagree with me, that's more than all right with me. I think this depends on policy and judgment, and you're good at both, so I think you'd be an asset there. If the user is unblocked, this might be a case for WP:UAA. There's a lot of spin in the discussion about the nature of two of his edits, which I looked at closely and which I seem to think are worse than what some other people think. I also take a dimmer view of that user name than others do. I'd be interested to see what you think about that. And if you do have the time and interest to look at it and see that I've said anything inappropriate in that discussion, feel free to let me know. Regards, Noroton (talk) 18:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Admin Abuse

Fozzie, Can we consider getting an apology for Bardcom from User:William M. Connolley? terrible beheaviour; if he doesn't apologise we need to look at de-sysoping or something. Regards Sarah777 (talk) 00:13, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

William is already at ArbCom for some issues, however, while I believe that the block was.... well not black and white, but shades of grey, I do not consider this a de-sysopable activity, because of good faith. SirFozzie (talk) 02:41, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Fozzie, I've discovered his record - I don't want him de-sysoped; a simple profound apology to Bard would be enough - but instead he is making sneering remarks about Bard on his own page. Doesn't seem very much like good faith to me. If he (1) apologises to Bard and (2) promises never again to block anyone for incivility (real or imagined) aimed at himself then we could accept his good faith. If not, time to hand back his badge. Sarah777 (talk) 19:20, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
And nobody should ever be blocked for "shades of grey" in any case. Acceptance of that level of Admin competence by the Admin community is a total scandal on Wiki. Sarah777 (talk) 19:25, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
FYI - I put more info on User talk:Sarah777 to do with the incident, especially the ad hominen comments. --Bardcom (talk) 09:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Gold heart

Wow, that Friday the 13th guy (Jason), has nothing on Gold heart. Block-evader supreme; gee wheez, he sure has an obession with getting revenge on Wikipedia. GoodDay (talk) 23:22, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Speaking of whom; did you notice Beam repeating Gold Heart's meme about blocking Ireland in the AN/I thread? Minkythecat (talk) 10:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
I am aware. I may be misreading the situation, but I tend to think that he was being sarcastic and that he knew folks wouldn't rangeblock "All of Ireland". SirFozzie (talk) 11:06, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
It was originally propagated by Gold heart on WR one night when he'd had too much to drink, and I'd soft rangeblocked his mobile ISP. A rather gullible passer-by took it on faith and published it in his "haters" mag. Gold heart then recanted on his "All of Ireland" story and admitted that he'd been EUI. Epic lulz ensued. He'd later use this fairytale again, right up to today. Tsk :) - Alison 11:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I got someone to oversight the diff. Please don't post on people's talk pages in the future asking for oversight - it needs to be done in private by email which you can find at WP:OVERSIGHT. Can you take a look please?

You are familiar with the problems caused by GDD1000's editing, and he is back causing problems with multiple sockpuppets which I have filed a report about. At Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/GDD1000 Traditional Unionist is making a series of attacks on me, accusing me of harassment for filing a sockpuppet report in the proper way, and saying the case should not be looked at. I am unhappy about these attacks made without evidence, and his attempts to subvert the sockpuppet reporting process in order to protect his biased friend. Thanks. meh

Put yourself in Slim's shoes and ask whether you'd do whatever it took to a/ prevent the people who have stalked and harassed her for years from having a platform on WP and b/ prevent people who associate with those people closely from being permitted to carry out information fishing expeditions against editors of WP. One can disagree with her without feeling that she is doing anything particularly bad. (Please answer here if you feel the urge.)Grace Note (talk) 01:27, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I can agree with her on many things, but I do think she's doing something particularly bad. She's determined that "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no Vice", but the things she has done, IN MY EYES (want to make that clear, I speak for no one but myself), has lowered her to the level of those she is fighting. Perhaps a quote from philosophy makes it clear. When you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back at you. SirFozzie (talk) 02:12, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Extending Merkey's ban

Thanks for acting on this so quickly. I've seen things like this take a lot longer, too long. The ip's repeated denials annoy me; it was obvious to everybody else that it was him.

When you have time, will you visit the arbatration page to log the extension of Jeff Merkey's ban, as Coren did in April [3] and then courtesy blanked it again. I disagree with the courtesy blank, but nobody asked me. Thankyou, 204.15.84.2 (talk) 15:28, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Phelps Gold Medals

SirFozzie

I really don't think there is a need to distinguish Phelps from this guy from Rhodes, and here is why. Phelps now has twelve gold medals equaling this so-called number this other guy has. I say so-called because I have seen no proof of it.

This other guy won 12 events over four Olympics.

Phelps has won 12 events over less then two Olympics.

How many World Records did guy set. I can't even count how many Phelps has set. This guy is just Sour Grapes. He is Greek, and feels a Greek should be considered the best ever Olympian. Greece thinks the world owes them something because they gave us the Olympic Games. Funny though they didn't even give us these games, a (DARE I SAY IT)a Frenchman did. What is this guy going to say when Phelps wins Gold Medal # 13? Fact is if this other guy had won 8 Medals at one Olympics and so far 6 Golds at two consecutive Olympics he might matter here. But he hasn't --Subman758 (talk) 17:16, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Fozzie. Sorry to bother you. There appears to be some danger of unpleasantness developing in regards to the article Grossmarkthalle, as one particular user insists on implementing a series of changes without consent. Could you have a look and perhaps offer some advice?
