Image copyright problem with Image:Afbr.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Afbr.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Wikipedia:Requests for rollback privileges[edit]

Actually, this page isn't active yet, so I had to remove your request. But you're more than welcome to help further this proposal when the time comes to do so. Thanks. --LV (Dark Mark) 02:20, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge project[edit]

Hey there; I have been contemplating a major merge project that will merge galactic information, ground vehicles, et cetera. This will reduce the star wars stubs to nice, neat lists. Plus, it might get noticed by some of the higher ups, because they seem to hate stubs. Deckiller 21:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right now, I've been working on the star wars galaxy page by merging the Core worlds, etc. I also placed the short trade route article in the Star Wars galaxy article itself. This is really just a temporary fix; perhaps we could create a "List of Star Wars regions" or something. I kept the Outer Rim up for now, since it was fairly lengthy. Deckiller 22:24, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
-=nods=- Ideally, I would like to have a lot more direct lists, but with so many Star Wars editors, it would take a major discussion. I just finished merging the galactic divisions, trade routes, regions, and other areas. However, some of the regions are also governments, so I don't want to interfere too much with that, y'know? Do you think we should open up a wide discussion? Deckiller 22:55, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then again, I'm a guy who is a major mergist ^_^. When I came to Wikipedia, I started 40 articles on different Xenosaga things. Fortunately, it wasn't a popular subject, so it really went unnoticed for a while. Eventually, I was told it was fancruft, so I went ahead and merged it into 5-6 lists. I did the same for Xenogears, and, yesterday, Chrono Cross. Star Wars is a LOOOTTTT bigger and all, so I can understand a detailed article on the Jedi Starfighter. Anyway, I'll think of some ideas. If you want, we can have an IM discussion: I'm on AOL. Deckiller 23:05, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, while we're on the subject...do you mind taking a look at the Xenosaga (series) page and maybe contributing to the peer review for it? =P Deckiller 23:47, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think I know what the limit is; I won't be merging articles longer than 2-3 sentences without dicussion. You were right. Deckiller 04:06, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject proposed[edit]

Hey, I started a Star Wars wikiproject proposal. Here is the proposal. Deckiller 00:04, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, cool. A good example of a Wikiproject is Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy. We could also create a things to do page (like this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy/things to do). Deckiller 00:13, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images on your User Page and Talk Page[edit]

Sorry, but any images uploaded onto Wikipedia that qualify under "Fair Use" have to be taken off your User Page and Talk Page. I quote Wikipedia:Fair Use...

"Fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are often enough not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages. They should be linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are the topic of discussion. This is because it is the policy of the Wikimedia Foundation to allow an unfree image only if no free alternative exists and only if it significantly improves the article it is included on. All other uses, even if legal under the fair use clauses of copyright law, should be avoided to keep the use of unfree images to a minimum. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis if there is a broad consensus that doing so is necessary to the goal of creating a free encyclopedia (like the templates used as part of the Main Page). "

This means the following images have to be taken off your User Page:

  1. Lumpy2 1024x768.jpg
  2. Lumpy-HS.JPG

And on your Talk Page:

  1. Jedi archives.jpeg

Sorry, but it's the rules. I'll leave you to take them off. It's rather rude of me to do it. Thanks. Deskana (talk) 23:18, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

*sigh* OK, I removed the images from my user page. But do you think there is any way I can keep that one image (Image:Jedi archives.jpeg) on my talk page, since it illustrates where my archives are? :D The Wookieepedian 02:22, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Afraid not.
Used outside article space, they are often enough not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages. They should be linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are the topic of discussion.
This says that unless it's in the normal namespace (main namespace doesn't include User and User_talk), they might not be covered by fair use and cannot be used. Also, it says they should be linked not placed in talk pages, and that's only if the talk page is about the topic, which your page isn't. Basically, it needs to go. Again, I hate to have to be the one to tell you. I'll leave you to remove it again, since it's rude for me to do it. And try not to shoot the messenger eh? All I suggest is that you try and find an image in the public domain. But being from films, that's unlikely. Thanks. Deskana (talk) 17:31, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You've been actively contributing since I left this message, so you can't have missed the big "You have new messages" box, so I deleted the image for you. Happy editing! Deskana (talk) 20:48, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A New Hope[edit]

You need to let go of this incessant need to change every instance of Star Wars to A New Hope. The title didn't exist until 1981, and there was NEVER any mention of it before then. If it had been INTENDED to be called that, it would have been. It wasn't. The picture refers to 1976, and it should reflect the film as it occured then. What Lucas claims now does not jibe with recorded history and facts. He may own Star Wars, but historical fact should not be changed just because he doesn't like it. And besides, the original "Star Wars" is a perfectly correct notation, whereas calling it A New Hope - in this instance - is not. TheRealFennShysa 19:12, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now the edit on the novelization is just ridiculous... the novelization was ALWAYS released as Star Wars : From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker... only very recently has it been changed to "A New Hope" - and even on the inside it still lists the original title... for accuracy, that one's gotta be reverted... And to keep adding in "A New Hope" is not a compromise, you know - the world will still go on if "A New Hope" is not mentioned somewhere. TheRealFennShysa 19:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, all your edits on all the Oscar pages is just going to far... the link goes to the proper retitled page, but for historical accuracy, they need to be changed back to just Star Wars, as that is how the film was billed then, how it was nominated, and how it won the awards. The subtitle came years later. TheRealFennShysa 20:17, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Galaxy versus Expanded Universe[edit]

I don't mind your incessant changing of whitespace, and I leave it alone, but I have to draw the line at your removals of Expanded Universe (Star Wars) link and replacing them with Star Wars Galaxy- they are two different things. One is a geographic location in the movie and Expanded Universe in which most but not all events take place, and the other is an entire apparatus of novels and games and RPG guides that constitute an alternate fictional universe, along with a particular canon status. Please stop removing EU links, and keep adding galaxy links when appropriate. --maru (talk) contribs 08:11, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find it implausible how Maru insists on dabbling in Star Wars affairs but can't seem to find the time to assist me with the King of Fighters articles. -_- --ZeroTalk 10:28, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problem solved. See Image:Han 125x110 animated.gif. It's author at originaltrilogy.com has released it under the public domain. :) The Wookieepedian 02:32, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you 100% sure of that? The absense of a copyright notice does not mean that something is in the public domain, under current law everyting is copyrighted unless it's creator explicitly stated that it can be used for any purpose (wich include commericial use, modification etc). Saying "please use this image to link to us", does not constitute a release of all rights to an image. It also contains what looks like a screenshot from a Star Wars movie, so even if Jay Sylvester have released all rights to his work that would still make it hard to claim that the animation as a whole is in the public domain since Lucasarts have not released any rights to theyr content that has been used in it. --Sherool (talk) 02:54, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I wonder many things about Wikipedia/ns. :) BTW: feel free to prune the article section, which might be too long (and does reiterate some notions mentioned above). It currently reads fine, however, and thanks for your input.
As well, I'm eager to split our beloved cyborg article in two. I don't think it'll be as challenging as some think: we've already laid out a content plan, and I think the biggest challenge concerns the shear volume of information. I'm hopeful to do the deed in the next week or two: to that end, I hope to prevail upon you to assist. OK? And (even now) I can see some Wikipedians opposing the split, but you can't please everyone all the time. :) E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 06:43, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to bring a smile to your face. I wish I could claim credit for the words in quotes and italics, but of course I can't. subst[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Image Tagging Image:Bts_bg.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bts_bg.jpeg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I don't think this character deserves a Wikipedia entry of his own, but I thought you might want to check whether it could be put on Wookieepedia before it is proposed for deletion (or merge it into the appropriate article). Could you have a look at this article? Thank you, Kusma (討論) 20:45, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Hey, once you sign in to the project and whatnot, I was wondering if we could discuss the priorities I mentioned. I think that, if I continue trying to do everything at once, we'll all be confused. I noticed your addition to Serenity (film) of info about upcoming Serenity comics. Could you please include source information when you add stuff like that? So much of this kind of material looks like rumor and fan speculation, especially when it includes "weasel words" (WP's term, not mine) that obscure or completely omit the source, like "It has been recently confirmed" without saying who confirmed it. Since you contribute so much to these articles, it's important to provide a good example for others to follow, particularly when many newer editors feel that anything they hear on a fan discussion forum is suitable material for a Wikipedia article. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 04:55, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I realized one day that this would probably get people thinking I'm the main vandal; trust me, its only my love of music. Thats my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could ask your opinion of something; do you think that vibroblades/vibroweapons deserve their own page? I was thinking that they might, but I'm beginning the question my choice, as they're already featured on some pages. I just need some insight from other members. Cheers! Clone Wars[edit]

Why did you move the Clone Wars article? There is nothing else it can be confused with, and "(fictional event)" is not an accepted clarifier; you also broke nigh-upon hundreds of links. --maru (talk) contribs 22:39, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images[edit]

Hi Adam. I notice that you're using fair use images on User:The Wookieepedian/The Star Wars Holiday Special. Please note that such images cannot be used outside mainspace articles - please could you therefore remove them from this and any other of your userpages? Thanks, CLW 14:40, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wookieepedian[edit]

How are you doing Wookieepedian? I was wondering if you have been doing anything major lately. If not maybe you could help nominate and vote for the Star Wars Collaboration of the week and Portal:Star Wars/Vote? (Wow you have a lot of templates, especially compared to me) :-O Jedi6-(need help?) 01:30, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know, we had the misfortune of everyone but me and Deckiller being on a Wikibreak last week. Things are starting to pick up a little though. Jedi6-(need help?) 01:40, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I see that you've been editing since my message above, but haven't removed the fair use images yet. Please could you now do so? Thnaks, CLW 08:57, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Third request...[edit]

I've politely requested twice that you remove the fair use images from User:The Wookieepedian/The Star Wars Holiday Special, and again you've been editing but have ignored my request. You've not removed the images and you've not replied either here or at my talk page. Please would you now remove these images, otherwise I'll blank the page in question - the onus on going through such a long article to pick out the fair use images is on you, not on other editors, so if you won't take the images out blanking the page is the easiest way to deal with this. Thanks, CLW 17:02, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Then keep the back-up page, but without the images in it. Please see Wikipedia:Blocking policy where it clearly states:
Fair-use images on user pages are not allowed and may be removed where they are found, which can most often be achieved with a polite talk-page request.
You could add colons after the opening [[ so that there's a clickable link through to the image but no actual image displayed. Thanks, CLW 17:20, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that, CLW 08:29, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cityspeak[edit]

You have recently created a page called Cityspeak. Could you please provide citations for the quotes within this page, and where the idea of this language exists in the film Blade Runner to begin with? I'm unconvinced that this is a real topic. ~CS 00:12, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you know what I'm talking about. There was a fairly extensive debate, a vote and then another debate about the vote on the R. Tam Sessions issue. It was resolved. Then you unilaterally changed it, without discussing it on the talk page, by an alleged interview you don't directly link to that doesn't even appear to be on the site. If you have a new case to present you should link directly to this interview and argue how it changes your case. If people don't address it then of course feel free to change it. But it's certainly not a settled issue. Makgraf 05:53, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Station.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. i saw that you made some edits recently to {{template:title}}. In the past this had caused some problems with the way the article title is displayed in some skins. as near as I can tell, things look fine in the monobook skin, but strange at best in others. Of course, I changed a few pages to use this instead of {{template:lowercase}} before noticing this myself. If it bothers people they're free to change it back I guess, but I wondered if you were working on making this be friendlier to other skins? I would look at it myself, but I don't know enough about the syntax of templates to be effective. It would be nice to use this instead of the lowercase template, but I don't think it's ready for primetime yet. -- stubblyhead | T/c 22:01, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Project updates
Greetings, Star Wars editors! Deckiller here. It's the first edition of the WikiProject Star Wars newsletter, and yes, it's a semi-ripoff of the Esperenza newsletter. I think it's important to begin with some good news: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Jabba the Hutt have reached featured article status! Kudos to the editors who helped obtain these achievements!

WikiProject Star Wars is also on a mission to improve Star Wars articles using the following ideas:

  • An out of universe perspective versus an in universe perspective (see Wikipedia:Writing about fiction and the future ammendments to our manual of style)
  • Evolving lists into regular articles
  • Moving excess information and specifics to Wookieepedia (and providing links to Wookieepedia per the "see also" and/or "external links" sections)
  • Enhanced communication amongst WikiProject members
  • More to come

These should provide the basic steps needed to improve and "encyclopedia-fy" the Star Wars series of articles.

Things to do
There are plenty of Wikipedia:WikiProject Star Wars/things to do. An update to the page is coming very soon, and it will represent the new and exciting changes that Star Wars pages will be receiving!
Out-of-universe versus in-universe perspectives
Although details are forthcoming, I would like to take this time to explain the gist of this concept. Wikipedia has generally agreed that fictional articles should write about the topic from a "real world" perspective, focusing on real world issues and topics, with a section or two for plot synopsis and so on. Jabba the Hutt is a solid character example, and Clone Wars (Star Wars) is quickly moving toward an out of universe perspective.
Article evolution

As many of you know, lists of minor Star Wars-related themes are very common on Wikipedia; however, since these may be seen as violations of Wikipedia policy (and having seperate articles would breach even more policies), the tentative solution is to create general articles on a list's topic (for example, turning List of Star Wars devices into Technology of Star Wars, which allows us to cover everything from hyperspace to comlinks in a general encyclopedic fashion). This can be very tough for some broad topics, so the key is organization. I encourage all editors to list their ideas on the WikiProject talk page. It will be a very difficult — but tangible — effort.

For an example, let me point you to the Final Fantasy WikiProject. Some of us over at that WikiProject decided to turn various components of Final Fantasy X, such as Pyreflies, Yevon, and the backstory — into an article describing the world of Spira. Location descriptions were given a List of locations in Spira article, and the details themselves were placed on the Spira (Final Fantasy X) page. This is a decent template to follow — however, we will need to place priority on out-of-universe, "real life" topics and perspectives in realtion to the article.

Sounds confusing, eh? It won't, for examples will be popping up left and right in the near future!

Signed...

How about some usage[edit]

re template:Title-shortcut, (I'll show you mine if you show me yours! <g>) ... {{ut}}, {{w2}}, {{w2c}} (note cats). Is this WPP:Books, WPP:Novels, or WPP:series related? Then needs Category:Book templates too.

Question[edit]

No, I'm not. I checked out, and Copperchair is blocked. How could I be him/her if when a user is blocked his/her IP address gets blocked? By the way, nice handling of our difference about the image. Esaborio 15:57, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Esaborio 18:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Having looked over Esaborio's records, I have found three things: his user page begins exactly the same as Copperchair's, his first edit is just three days after Copperchair's blocking, and his edits (Star Wars and The War on Terrorism) are on the same topics as Copperchair's. I have no definite proof he's Copperchair, though, and I'll wait and see what he says in response to my query on his talk page. PBP 16:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, it's Copperchair. He replied saying he didn't care if I believe him or not and asked a question about Star Wars. Hope the edit wars don't begin again. PBP 17:11, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Leia mac 1280x1024.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Leia mac 1280x1024.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

McCallum quote[edit]

You probably can't recall since you made this edit last November, but I was wondering where you got this Rick McCallum quote: "Leia's recollection as described in Return of the Jedi have no inherent flaws and are valid given the greater context of the saga. But I suspect those looking for contradictions always find them." You added it to the article Alleged inconsistencies in Star Wars on November 11, 2005. I would like to have more reliable source for this quote in the Padmé article than Answers.com. I have removed the quote for now, since this has come up at the article's FAC. Thanks. Firefly Templates[edit]

As I mentioned on User:Plange's talk page, the category is only redundant coming down the category tree FROM Fox, but not going back up. Or is the intention for categories always to go downward? That's why I felt it was not repetitive, the article itself has no other reference to the Fox category. You would have to first go into the Firefly category to find it. - BalthCat 23:12, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Serenity reverts[edit]

The stuff I removed did contain a reference, but the reference used was for a translation of the name Miranda, and did not support the conclusion that the name was chosen because of the translation. Further, the translation was challenged on the talk page and it also seems to contradict a later statement that it was chosen for the character Miranda from The Tempest. This was previously discussed on the talk page here: Talk:Serenity (film)#Miranda_2 --Lethargy 00:30, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lost (TV series)[edit]

You recently made an edit to Lost (TV series) that you summarised as a "clean up" that involved moving around many sections of the article that had just been altered; User:Wikipedical had just restructured the article based on some suggestions I derived from the wikiproject television guidelines. Perhaps you might be interested in contributing to the discussion about the structure of the article here.--Opark 77 01:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you're talking about. The FAC nomination instructions say "If you are resubmitting an article, use the Move button to archive the previous discussion. For example, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Television → Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Television/archive1"

I thought Palpatine was nominated just once before. Dmoon1 21:11, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, dude, you never gave me a direct answer (you did answer the peer review), but would you mind copyediting it for me? Or should I find someone else? I figured a man with Star Wars in his name would like a shot at copyediting the article for the film that started it all. :) The Filmaker 03:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Raynor[edit]

Please reconsider your revert on the Star Wars canon article. I'd much rather trust an editor who has politely presented his opnions over and over again, as opposed to someone who has descended to personal attacks and the like. I've done a little reading on this Raynor character, and he's consistently shown the same pattern of abusive behavior to get his way. I don't believe he is proven his case by any means. TheRealFennShysa 00:26, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Who should you trust more? The guy who actually provides evidence albeit not always in the most polite way, or the guy who has made NO EFFORT whatsoever to back up his claims? RealFennShysa, you should read up on ad hominem fallacies. It is both ridiculous and offensive that you would make such a big deal about my impoliteness, while YOU continue to commit ad hominems, dodge the questions, and make THREATS of ban. You're no saint, so don't try to pretend that you're taking the high road. JimRaynor55 01:37, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently you have the same trouble understanding me as you have with MikeWazowski. I made my points back in July, and I don't feel the need to state them again, just so you can ignore them again. However, this is not the place to have this argument, unless TheWookieepedian wants to continue this here. TheRealFennShysa 05:38, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See the talk page in the "Star Wars canon" article. I've gone over your so-called "points." But as you say, we'll continue this elsewhere. Just remember that you started it, by going to OTHER people's talk pages to try to ad hominem me. JimRaynor55 14:51, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To nitpick, going to someone else to prejudice him is not so much ad hominem as poisoning the well. Rogue 9 12:13, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Indiana Jones characters[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Category:Indiana Jones characters, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at [[Talk:Category:Indiana Jones characters]]. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. johnpseudo 02:52, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smart as a Wookiee.[edit]

Lucas ignore things you count as canon. He wrote 3 films that negate them as canon. Yet you think the marketing arm of Lucasfilms has the last say?

Riiiight.

Duggy 1138 08:14, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He has repeatedly said he wishes all copies of the Holiday Special destoryed. He either had his name taken off it during production, or had nothing to do with it. Splinter was written by Foster as part of a deal in exchange for ghosting the Star Wars novel. Total different kettle.
Duggy 1138 11:15, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please be civil, and not use phrases like: "OK, how in the hell am I going to get this through your head?"
"Lucas Licensing, THE ONES WHO DETERMINE CANON," Yeah. Right. Lucas determines canon. Lucas chose which part of the EU to ignore when writing the films. Lucas Licensing calls everything canon so they can sell more to suckers.
If you'd ever watched the Holiday Special and watched Revenge how could you say the Wookie section "still fits."
"Excutive Producer" means made by LucasFilms, not necessarily anything else.
He didn't "mistake and contradicted the events of the DROIDS series" he ignored it.
"HOWEVER, Lucas Licensing created a retcon for the Droids series explaining that R2 and 3PO..." yadda, yadda, yadda, buy our product.
Ewoks was contradicted by the Ewok films, and by a degree by Jedi.
"In addition to the fact that Lucas personally WROTE the Ewok films, they were never contradicted either." So?
"The Clone Wars series was never contradicted" Of course it wasn't. It was designed to be part of canon and leads right up to Revenge. Have you watched it?
The EU isn't Canon. Lucas basically ignored it when creating the prequels, because he could, as he created the canon. He lets others play with his toys. He lets marketing pretend that stuff is canon to make him more money, but frankly, it ain't canon. And unless you're Rich, you ain't the

biggest fan.

Duggy 1138 12:56, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Wookieepedian. Consider this a friendly warning: I've worked well with you in the past, but the current revert war is unacceptable. Technically, I believe that both you and Duggy 1138 are in violation of the three-revert rule. Remember, it takes two to edit war. Hey, Wookieepedian. I was looking at Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure in connection with the discussion at Lengths of science fiction film and television series, and I noticed that the section you added here appears to be copied pretty much directly from here. That's a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. I've removed it, but I wanted to let you know. Star Trek episode naming[edit]

Hiya, since I have seen you involved with the Star Trek articles, I would like to invite you to participate in a discussion that is ongoing at Wikipedia_talk:Naming conventions (television). The specific question being discussed is whether or not episode articles should include a standardized suffix, or whether the suffix should only be used on articles that specifically require them for disambiguation purposes. Since the result of this discussion will probably directly impact the Star Trek categories, if you could please pop in to offer your opinion on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.  :) --Elonka 07:04, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indiana Jones - aged 93[edit]

Your contribution to the Indiana Jones page is much appreciated - just a quick point : -

The article never stated that older Indy had been kicked out of canon - only that his 'canonicity is now unclear' - which is quite correct. It has not yet been specifically contradicted, which I daresay is your point, and in fairness no-one has yet actually removed his mention on the official biography [5]. This said, it is now impossible to source any materials that refer to him (i.e. he is removed from all commercially available prints of Young Indy), and Lucas's intention seems clear (although our interpretation of his intentions shouldn't have any bearing on the article). It's also likely to be contradicted by Indy IV (although again, we can't let expectations of what a future film is going to contain sway the article).

The bottom line is that Lucas has removed all mention of him from the show. An analog would be the Star Wars holiday special - which is firmly non-canon, despite being produced with his input, because he has later changed his mind (as he often does).

Therefore, I suggest that we leave in his mention in the biography, but we make a clear italicized note stating that whether or not these events are canon is currently unclear - and I will then alter the following section about his daughter to suit. Thoughts?

Fair use rationale for Image:Jedi archives.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jedi archives.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Fair use rationale for Image:SWcastphoto.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SWcastphoto.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 10:13, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:ObiwanESB.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ObiwanESB.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Indiana.jpeg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Indiana.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Request for participation in Asperger FARC :[edit]

As a member of Wiki Aspergians, I hope you'll comment on the Asperger's FARC. I am voting to de-list, as I believe the article has taken a drastic POV shift toward pure pathology and away from the dual nature - talent+disability - articulated by the leading RS's of the field. I hope you'll vote whether you agree or not with my assessment :

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Jeremitt.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:23, 16 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 18:23, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've listed this article for peer review because it right now seems oddly cluttered and, despite my adding of a lot of references, it lacks reliable source citations. Although I've already requested another peer review for another article, as long as it helps the articles get better, I've got the time. Any helpful comments are appreciated, as this should help me in expanding other Star Wars-centric articles (particularly bios like that of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, also in dire need of certain expansion). Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jack Merridew 10:52, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2010-poster01.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2010-poster01.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:38, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
