Infobox dates[edit]

Hi, when updating infobox stats you need to update the |pcupdate= or |club-update= parameter by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:40, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for June 1[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mick Wadsworth, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Third Division. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Notice

The article Undr the Cosh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Searched Google, Google News, Google News Archive, Google Books, Google Scholar, Newspapers.com and the Internet Archive and was unable to find anything but user generated content from sbnation. The show appears to have won a small award, but I don't think it's enough to meet the requirements of WP:WEB or WP:GNG. There's already short entries at both of the hosts' articles. Considering their are multiple hosts and nothing else really links to this page there isn't a clear redirect target.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hello, I'm Dopespawed. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on St Monica's High School, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. In this case, a wikilink isn't sufficient as the initial page contains has no citation. Please also make sure that all additions to a notability list meet the guidelines set out on WP:NBIO. Dopespawed (talk) 09:16, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Read School, Drax[edit]

Hi - I see that you added the list of “Notable pupils” to the Read School, Drax article. I think it should probably include William Jacques, a former head boy and another with his own Wikipedia article. Do you happen to have an RS that shows Jacques attended Drax? I’m struggling to find one, although I think he did and our Jacques article states it as fact. Thanks and regards. KJP1 (talk) 20:40, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He is certainly a character and worthy of being in the Notable Pupils section. However, I am also struggling to find a reliable source. Some sources suggest that he grew up in Selby so there is every chance he attended. The notable alumni section on Read School's website doesn't include him but they can be forgiven for not wanting to someone infamous on there! Thegeordieman (talk) 14:27, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For similar reasons, my old school doesn’t rush to publicise John Vassall on its alumni page, but I have ensured his “contribution” is recognised in its Wikipedia entry! I shall continue to look for a source. KJP1 (talk) 15:22, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Jack Moore-Billam[edit]

Hello, Thegeordieman,

Thank you for creating Jack Moore-Billam.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

All the references given for this article are primary, and not rendering notability for sports.
What is needed are references from significant coverage about this player, and not their own words; in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. Lists, Team rosters, pages listing matches and results, databases, Instagram, Facebook, none of these are reliable sources. (There have been changes to the notability guide for sports - see WP:NSPORT ) You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally giving more information about this player, that meet these criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that this article is not suitable for inclusion.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Released players[edit]

In the English system, contracts end on 30 June (so players leave clubs on that date) and begin on 1 July (so players join new clubs on that date). Please wait until those dates before editing. GiantSnowman 16:37, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, apologies. Noted, thanks Thegeordieman (talk) 18:23, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Stephenson (footballer) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Louis Stephenson (footballer), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. July 2023[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Ben Killip. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. GiantSnowman 08:59, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thegeordieman. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Louis Stephenson".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. plicit 14:03, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Campbell Darcy. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
